A new spring sport dilutes the traditional sport leagues. Some kids try to play lacross, baseball and soccer in the same season. The result is that they can play none as well as if they concentrated on one. And the respective teams cannot depend on the kids to play in games, when a schedule conflict often happens.
And, the equipment must be paid for by the parents.

Mr. Farmer is way off base, as most kids in high school play only 1 Spring sport, lacrosse is the oldest sport in the world, played by Native American Indians and The Vikings, as far back as the early 1600's, what's more traditional than that? Lacrosse has by far been the most successful sport in world competition games for the USA than any other sport. I'll bet he doesn't know that the National sport of Canada is lacrosse, not hockey. His old school thought process is exactly what we need to get away from to move forward in this country, change is good and neccessary, what is Sen. Obama's theme, CHANGE, is it why he's so popular? And yes, unless you're in the top 12 or so in baseball, and you and you're family aren't in the loop, get ready for splinters in your butt. Baseball is the most politically governed sport of all, from little league right thru high school. And it can be boring and to slow for kids who like to run and physical contact. At last report, out of 17 teams, lacrosse has the #1 graduation success rate in college, baseball is 16th. Lacrosse continues to be the 2nd fastest growing sport, behind bowling, in high school across the country. In 2000 there were about 520 teams, in 2006, 2,750. There are far more available scholarships and chances to play lacrosse in college than any other sport. Lacrosse is on the move and here to stay whether people like it or not, and it can exist without hurting other spring sports.

My point is, the Vikings played Lacrosse, but not like an organized sport, and as far as the graduation rate, give me a break, its a totally different socially excepted sport, like rich kids, more opportunity to advance academically. Heck if I could have afforded it, Id be sking every waking moment.

Acually I might be wrong, the first sport could have been NASCAR, I think the first vehicle used was the Chariot. in Rome, I think the caear-penske team was the no.1 team back then.

when you need 23 million for health ins. and 200 mill for a new high school and 2 mill for a movie house and 20 mill for a colonial playhouse and and ever increasing self voting raises and new city vehicles and free gas for the drivers of those vehicles. then go get a 30 dollar plate of spiced spagetti I would say Pittsfield must be in real good financial shape at least those that have the tax and grant monies at their hands reach.

ALL IN FAVOR OF LOWER TAXES AND HIGHER WAGE$ RESPOND IN THE USUAL MANNER . THE AYES HAVE IT .NEXT { that's a fantasy statement for the residents } but the chamber does it in a legal sounding way
When they vote themselves a raise and vote on pension increases or apply for the best health care OUR TAX money can buy.
according to the original code, set down by the government , in earlier years, is against those laws that they have REWRITTEN AND HAVE CORRUPTED THE TRUST OF THE PEOPLE. By inserting into a looseleaf code book, in order to override the original laws that use to protect the people from such activities which had a glued binder not looseleaf, making it a binding law ,not to be altered unless resident approved
THE CHAMBERS MUST'VE REWRITTEN THE WHOLE CODE BOOK TWICE ,TO APPLY THEIR WANTS AND THEIR WAYS TO PUBLIC ALLY RULE THE CITY .
JUST READ THE PITTSFIELD REVISIONS AND AMENDMENTS FOR THE PAST 20 YEARS FOR THIS PROOF. THE ORIGINAL CHARTER WAS HALF AN INCH THICK . NOW IT IS 6 INCHES THICK .
ACCORDING TO....[ section 17 of the code.... salary of the mayor ] reads as follows.........no ordinance providing for such INCREASE OR DECREASE IN THE SALARY of the mayor, shall take effect''''' UNLESS IT IS APPROVED BY A MAJORITY OF REGISTERED VOTERS ''OF THE CITY. VOTING THEREON AT THE NEXT REGULAR MUNICIPAL OR STATE ELECTION . IT SEEMS CERTAIN OFFICIALS VOTED IN A SECRET MEETING a few years prior AND PASSED A REVISION TO OVERRIDE THE ORIGINAL LAWS ... This is what motivated my quest to seek out the TRUTH for answers and along with THE COVER-UP OF POISON HERE, OF G.E. EPA AND CITY OFFICIALS PAST AND PRESENT. TO EXPOSE. IT AS JUST THAT a cover UP. To have justice take hold and root itself on the behalf of the residents of Pittsfield.......... ENOUGH IS ENOUGH....
