Great Job Yucca, my kids really enjoy their experience there and The Girls and Boys Club, I appreciate all who work so hard to make my kids learning environment so rewarding, challenging and fun.

Thank you,

While many schools took field trips to the library last year, Yucca held two assemblies so the whole school could hear about the Summer Reading Program. They had the most participants (94, or 23.5% of their enrollment) by the end of the summer), topped only by the home schoolers with 112 (impossible to say what their percentage is).

This is awesome!

Yucca always had the reputation(that I heard) as being one of the worst schools in town. We got a lot of worried looks when my brother went to school there.

Speaking of your brother, how is he doing?

Very well! He finished the first part of basic a few weeks ago, his big graduation is the 20th at Benning. He gets to come home right after and he'll be here about a week and a half, then is headed to Savannah, GA.

Great! I was worried about him after hearing of the Ft. Hood incident.

I laugh because his last few letters, he's said, "Once this is done, I never want to see Georgia again."

Now he has to go back lol!

Not bad but it's still a Title One school. Most title one schools still have low achieving students. How does Yucca rate against non title one schools in NM?

The article doesn't really explain Title 1, or what Yucca excelled at ("most improved?").
My son attends Yucca, and I would really appreciate an explaination. Does this mean it is the best of the under-achieving schools, or what?
Thanks

Being an Air Force child, I attended many different schools, including a school in LA for 1st, Nfld. Canada for 2nd, and HAFB for 3rd....we moved to town and I went to Yucca for 4th and 5th before moving to Florida for 6th. Of all the elementary schools I attended, I have the fondest memories of Yucca and the wonderful teachers I had there.

Congrats to Yucca!! The school has overcome a lot of negative image problems and is now getting some recognition! Proud to be an alumni :)

I know for a fact that the teachers and staff at Yucca are very dedicated to their profession. Congradulations and keep up the good work.
