1 Only from a teacher. Of course you want homework banned, so you don't have to do any more work. Homework DOES help, it's an extension of the classroom. If a student needs additional practice and study, this helps. I'm not saying to give them busy work but if you're trying to make sure they finish in class, what are you cutting from their education to fit this in? |

well hi!!! i am a studen at a former charter school (a junior) and i believe that homework is an essential part to a students development and comprehension. homework i think gives that little boost outside the classroom in which a student can learn his or her way and spending that time trying to learn helps oneself find ways to learn what it is needed. i dont think that homework is just extra practice. yes i agree they are kids once but throughout their childhood based on what they learn that sets the ground base for the stability that they need thoughout their teens and adulthood. the basic learning they gets either helps them in the real world or it does not. |

jman dont whine if feell your pain but although i get 3 hrs of homework or more and sometimes stay up to 2 in the morning through that transition i do actually learn more so banning would not be the best option. |

Good day to everyone. In my point of view, homework should not be banned. I personally believe that homework only becomes stressful when it doesn't fit the student's interest. It it said that the best time to teach a student is when he or she is curious or interested. If the student is not interested about the homework then why force it? Also, if it is forced, it gives pressure, for most homeworks are to be passed the next day of class. Homework should be fun. It should fit the interests of students so that they do it for their own fulfillment not as an obligation.

1 As a current student, I am not opposing the idea of having homeworks or assignements because it gives opportunity for the student to apply their learning. Consequently, teachers must also know when to give a specific assignment, quantity of it, and the time allotted for it. Teachers must also consider that there are other subjects/classes that the students attend to, thus, require student's to make homeworks as well. |

Good day to everyone. My name is Christian Lao. I am a second year college student at the University of Santo Tomas currently taking up Elementary Education Major in Special Education. It is very helpful because it prepares the students for the next day's discussion. It also promotes advanced learning which is very beneficial.

Students, for one reason or another, are not always happy with homework. But when done properly, homework leads to mastery of learning. Homework has several learning and assessment functions. Homework is an extended practice, advance preparation for the next lesson and helps cultivate good study habits. For teachers, it is a tool to assess the learning needs of learners.

i agree to whom the statement which this person is pointing out, yes, homework can be a bit difficulty, some says its a waste of time, but when really done properly, the student will benefit so much from it, he might even thank his teacher for letting him do his homework, based on my experience as a high school student , homework really helps a lot, with regard to the mastery of the lesson. |

I completely hated adolescence. I was mature, and I had my whole life planned. I was like an adult trapped in an adolescent body, with parents nagging me all the time and giving me absolutely no freedom. I was absolutely sick of having a job when everything I ever bought with my hard earned cashed were not mine, and every morning my mother threatened if I don't get up in time, even though I was already up and getting ready, that she would take away my items that I have bought with my money. That's why my job lasted only a year as an adolescent. I was depressed of having no freedom, and I was confused on how us Americans would call this country land of the free without even looking at those who are living in the United States who need freedom the most, adolescents. While many adolescents make wrong choices, there are many of us who are mature. I was shocked on how we didn't even have the right to leave the house without a parent calling the police and getting something on my record. Adolescents don't even have the right to homeschool.
Now, on to homework. I was homeschooled for about two years.. no homework, no early times, no lack of music, no lack of natural light, no lack of the breeze from the window, no mean teachers.. just me and my computer. My parents forced me back into public school where I was too tired to learn, I had tons of homework, and the teachers were very mean and wouldn't even let me take out my phone during lunch. Very cruel and unusual. I was sick of it. I was sick of being treated like I wasn't a human being. I stopped caring, and when the time came, I dropped out and started over at homeschool as an adult. I graduated with excellent grades. On to homework again, it is cruel. you don't see a plumber going home to practice on his plumbing skills. You don't see the CEO of a company going home after a long day of work and doing more work instead of spending time with their family or having sexual release with their spouse. We should not only look into the dangers of homeschooling, but the dangers of treating adolescents like animals. They deserve their freedom. They may not deserve every single right as an adult such as smoking or leaving the state and ditching their family, but they deserve rights. They deserve the right to say, "Hello mother, I'm going to go for a walk because you are yelling and I need to relax without hearing loud noises." and getting pulled over by an officer because your angry, drunk, mother called the police and you were still forced to live with her. This country is not truly land of the free, no matter what even if it's a superpower with all the free adults. No one simply cares about the adolescents, and that's why I plan to start an organization dedicated to give those who deserve their rights.. rights. |
