I have had insomnia since I started taking Zoloft a week ago. Will this ever go away? If so, how long until this problem goes away?

It has really been bothering me already... thanks!

It takes three weeks to work so I doubt it is the cause. It makes me sleep better than I have in years

Hi! I've been taking Zoloft for two weeks and I have insomnia too. I've been taking a prescription sleep medication to help me sleep and that seems to help plus I had to cut my dosage in half because I was so wired.

Stef,
You are taking a drug to help with the side effects of another drug and later you will take drugs to help with the side effects of the second drug. Antidepressants don't work anyway except as placebos at least according to accurate double blind studies

I started Zoloft a week ago and am tired all day and then Can't sleep for the life of me at night. Then when I do fall asleep I wake up abruptly every 30 minutes. The only way I can go to sleep is by taking a xanax or niquel and then I am so drowsy the next day. I tried in the morning and at night and it has the same effects. I can't take another day of this

I have been on zoloft a week and have terrible insomnia. I went to the psychiatrist because I was depressed and was not sleeping in the first place! So I get something that makes me worse! I quitting it. There must be an antidepressant that does the same thing that puts you to sleep instead of keeping you up when that was the original problem. It's like going to mechanic for a flat tire and he gives you three more.

I couldn't sleep when I took zoloft in the morning because it peaks in about 8 hours so I take it at night before I go to bed and I sleep much better.

So, if you're having trouble sleeping try taking it at night.

UGH!

I just spent $90 and took my first pill last night and bang, up at 3:30am and could have done jumping jacks.

Why don't Physicians write a prescription for just several pills first to see if it works. I'm now stuck with pills I don't want. I rather get a good night's sleep than to be up all night.
