Honestly this is one time that I would not try to save the money. If you suffer from migraines like I do and Topamax helps you, then stick with the original. I was switched by mistake to the generic and didnt even know it until I started getting anxiety attacks, crying spells out of nowhere and increased migraines as well as an increase in my weight...I did notice a lower price in the pills but thought it was cause I finally paid off some damn deductible since I pay over $200 for scripts as it is every month....but when I found out it was because I was taking a generic version of what I thought to be a "miracle pill" I was very upset and quickly called the doctor to have them change my script to read DAW - dispense as written...no more generic for me. I want the real Topamax...

Oh thank goodness I thought I was nuts. There is an article in Shape magazine discussing the fact that generic drugs may have less impact, but who know it would impact me? Thanks for your story!

Here I thought I was crazy. My headaches are out of control ever since I have been switched to generic.I am getting a huge run around from my insurance company because my doctor requested name brand.I think I am going to fight harder to get the medication I need.

Its definitely the generic causing the problems, go back to the pharmacist and tell them you want the Topamax or make sure to have your doctor call them to have them dispense as written. It is important. I wasted so much money and now have the additional problem of not having insurance so I have to find out about getting some kind of extension and waiver for coverage until I can get more.

Anxiety attacks, gloom and doom depression, crying out of nowhere... that is just the beginning! I couldn't eat, lost 10 more pounds and wasted away to nothing before I decided to ask for help. I am a really strong person - the thought of asking for help meant I was at the bottom. I was googling anti-depressants, supplements and wanted to see how they would react with Topamax when I cam across a forum that mentioned generic Topamax and side effects... THAT WAS IT! I am now 4 days into using name brand Topamax again and I am the old me again! I'd had 2 generic refills.(2 DIFFERENT ones might I add!) Never again! Thankfully I can pay a $40 co-pay instead of full price. Definitely worth it! I've always opted for generic before. NEVER AGAIN!
