Hi. I have been taking 300mg Seroquel since about 6 months for "mood disorder".
i have had no serious side effect but no positive effects either (except from HEARING VOICES shortly after i take it, and i'm not even psychotic. but its a known side effect. anyways)

Now i'm trying to reduce it (doctor knows).
so i reduced to 100mg and all the sudden i'm tired like something else. no depression or sleepyness or anything. just tired like i have just climbed a mountain or something! like "bodily tired".
That doesnt even make sense. seroquel is quite an antihistamin, its like eating a ton of benadryl or something and i was less tired on that?

have anyone experienced something like this?

Seroquel is a psychotic medication, not an antipsychotic. My thought process was psychotic and suicidal most of the time I took Seroquel. I know someone who threatened to hit a coworker with a bottle twice while taking Zyprexa, and he uses these events, which never happened before he took Zyprexa, as a reason he needs to take Zyprexa. Seroquel is mind contolling and destroying garbage that everyone should avoid like poison.

Omi:

congrats on doing well on your seoquel taper. I would be interested to hear what your doc thinks about your fatigue symptoms when you got to the 100mg/day level. It wouldn't hurt to make sure it is not medically related to something else, but it wouldn't surprise me that it was seroquel related. feel free to join the discussion on the seroquel withdrawal thread-- it has helped me and others immensely. I have now been off seroquel for going on 6 months after being on 200mg day for 7 years, I am glad that your doctor knows and i wish you the best. It isn't easy, but with the help of others, therapy and taking good care of myself and pryaer- i am doing ok

Hi. I've just been trawling the net to find out whether anyone else has experienced extreme tiredness on withdrawing from serequel. I've been on it since about 2000 (750mg), alongside effexor (antidepressent) and carbamazepine (mood stabiliser). I stopped the effexor almost 2 years ago, have been reducing the mood stabiliser for about a year (am only on 200mg now) and - after gradually reducing serequel for the last year - i'm finally off it completely.

Initially i struggled to sleep (or rather, it took a couple of weeks for me to recognise what unassisted sleep was as I'd never had the subtleties of falling asleep whilst on medication). I felt quite perky physically, though, and much more connected to the world around me. I had lots more voices, visions and was sensitive to external stimuli (light, sounds, people)- but felt pretty positive as I knew to expect this and have learnt ways of dealing with them

The tiredness took me by suprise, though. It's like I have a really small reserve of energy that means as soon as I try and do something I end up feeling like it's the end of a 12 hour shift. It's a real body tiredness, rather than the sedation I felt on the medication. I feel exhausted and am yawning all the time. It's affecting my concenration too.

Seeing as i'm generally quite an energetic person this effect has taken me completely by suprise. Does anyone else have this effect?

Good luck to everyone else who's working on withdrawing from this x

I have been takink seroquel 300mg.one at night for about 2 months. I am studying at a University and found myself failing a class because all I could do is sleep. The drug makes me not able to concentrate and not care about much of anything. I can't afford the drug anymore so I am quiting it cold turkey. My body feels like I was hit by a mack truck. Hopefully I will make it thru the with drawl part. I would rather be manic than druged into a so to say an imagative world.

I was taking 25mg.of Seroquel for Bipolar 2 for about a year. I stopped cold about 6 weeks ago due to weight gain, tiredness-i felt out of it. I am experiencing bouts of depression now, shakey hands and anxiety. Could this be withdrawal even though i was on a small amount? Also take 225 Lamotrigene.

I took Seroquel for about 3 weeks.I couldn't handle it.I also take Topamax and Lamictal.I was so tired all I wanted to do was sleep!!I have never felt that bad in my life.I thought if I gave it some time it would get better and it didn't.I stopped one day and had no problems, maybe because I was on it for such a short period.I felt so good that first morning.I got up and started my day like a normal human being:)Otherwise I would have crawled back in bed for hours and hours.Glad I found your posts. Now I know I'm not the only person out there getting prescribed meds that don't agree with me and they are the same side effects.

I have been on Seroquel 200 mg for 4 years for severe depression. I have to say that the Seroquel along with Lamital pulled me out of the deep funk I was in. But in the last year, I have found the depression returning but what is more troubling is an inability to concentrate. My mind wanders constantly. I cannot say for sure that this is caused by the Seroquel but I have come to the point that I have decided I need to re-connect with myself. Three weeks ago I reduced the amount to 100 mg and my wife loved me for it. NOT! I could not sleep well and was very irritable. Lots of negative thoughts.
My way of getting through this phase was a bit un-orthodox, I smoked pot which did not help the marital relation but definitely helps the anxiety.
Last night, I halved it again to 50 mg and the restlessness and anxiety are all back in full force.
Should I again turn to marijuana to reduce the symptoms? In a way it is quite comical. I went to the doctor not only for depression but drug dependency, mainly pot. Now I find I need the pot to ween me from the doctors drug.
I am now 54 years of age and I have been struggling with drug addiction for nearly 40 years. But I find the only solution the doctors provide is to change my addiction habit to something that pads his pocket.
I am going to get off this drug, along with the Lithium, give the good doc the finger and move on.
To those going through the throes of depression and/or addiction, just a little warning, drugs are drugs, it doesn't matter who gives them to you. And addiction doesn't limit itself to only the "BAD" drugs, it can and will be found it the drugs the doctors give you.
So if you are struggling, it is imperative you find a doctor will to listen, talk, and if necessary prescribe. But only as a last resort.
Remember drug companies create drugs for profit as much as for helping others. Sometimes profit goes before help.

Hi guys I have been taking serequel for "sleeping" atleast that is what my doctor told me I am being treated for anxiety and mild depression(prestiq) the prestiq has worked wonders but I had no idea that serequel was what it was.. I am now only taking 75mg a week. I am weaning myself off of it. I am mortified that my doctor told me this was for sleeping. I have been up allnight and will call my doctor as soon as a descent hour arrives. Thanks for this site. My prayers are extended to each of you.. God will bring us out of this.. Be Well Friends

As far as I can tell - taking apple cider vinegar helps with the pains of withdrawal. And putting allspice in tea or coffee sometimes calms me down. I was on seroquel 50mg a day for about 5 years and passed out one day and hit my head. I still have various pain and muscle stiffness. My head is always sore and I have to take aspirin to relieve the pain. But now, at least, I can read a little longer. It was so bad and I was in so much pain before that I don't even want to get into it. Seems like lemon juice really helped in the beginning. Orange juice too. Hope these tips help. Take care, Brandy.

Wow, had no idea I'm not alone with the depression and anxiety. Is this a modern day illness with all the stress and fast pace of life we're all going through? I was going to ask my doctor for seroquel until I read your reports. I suffer from extreme fatique without the seroquel, and I'm really surprised physicians are prescribing this med for sleep without informing the patient of the potential side-effects. I did a nutrition regiment for years that worked, and it consisted of 500mg. of niacinamide with 500mg. vita-C, 500 mg. of pantothenic acid with vita A. Within a few days I was a new person, so try it in the morning with breakfast. Must be taken together as they are synergistic. Also one vita-B daily. Good luck.
