Concerta Ritalin like Coke?

I have two children or should I say teens on concerta, the Dr warned me that no one at school should know about it as she told me it was a drug of choice for teens who crush it up and snort it and get the same reaction as cocain and will steal it off of my kids in order to do this. Does anyone know if this is actually true and if it is can you please let me know so I can prevent this from happening to my kids.
I would like to make this clear to my teens if they tell anyone that this could happen.

Just a note.... My son is doing very well in school now, great grades and does not act up now while in class, we do not make him take it on the weekend and boy can you notice a difference, but hey, the weekends are for him to enjoy.

your kids should be fine no one is going to rob them for their concerta... i went on concerta when i was a freshman and highschool and i was doing drugs on the regular... i had a problem and belive me i tried every way of crushing concerta and its not possable...

i say your sons will not get robbed for it because other types of amphetamines are drugs of choice because breaking up a concerta is a pain... they are made to not crush and the inside has 3 diffrent layers... take one of your sons pills and break it in half with a razor... the darkest color is just a kind of plug to push out the other two layers that are the medication... the medication and the plug are bolth a kind of gak substance and it will not crush at all

i am not a drug abuser any longer and my dad has since taken me off concerta because i had starting getting bad stomachaches... make sure you check your kids rooms and make sure they arnt stashing them... i used to stash them or flush them down the toilet because the stomach aches were so bad and i didnt want to tell my dad i wasnt taking them any more until he noticed my grades were getting alot better after i had stop doing all drugs then i told him i hadent taken them for a month...

good luck and im glad you worry for your children but they should be fine... concerta shouldent come up in a normal teen's conversation

My mother never put me on anything as a teen and was a VERY good mother. She thought that she could raise me with "consistent parenting and behavior modification", and it did not work. I recently went back to college and was having a very hard time focusing. I went to see a therapist and my therapist told me that I should use ADD meds. I dont really like thm, but they help me focus. You should not be such a B* about other peoples business. If giving them to her children bothered them that much, she would not do it.

I am a doctor from abingdon, in the uk, i beleive thta every kid should do it¬!!

you most def can crush concerta and snort it. i was prescribed it as a child (i later found out i never had ADHD so my parents were basically making me more jittery) and i ended up selling most of it off. it basically has two outer layers. if you slam the pill between two solid surfaced the first one will basically fall off and underneath there is a clear plastic-like shell (obviously not plastic but i dont know what it is) attached to the actual medication. you just have to crush that so it breaks up a little and peel as much of the plastic stuff off as you can, then the people i would sell two said they just put the medication with a little platic stufff left that they couldnt get off into a cheap grinder (used for breaking up marijuana for those who dont know) and would twist it while the smallest particles would fall out the sides, they would do this over a peice of paper for about twenty min (they ground up 3 or 4 pills at once) until a pile of fine dust had gathered on the paper and, like magic, you basically have cocaine. its alot of work but it can be done. i only say this to show that it can be done and it is something other kids will want. i wouldnt worry about kids stealing it i would be more worried about your teens catching on and selling it. some people will pay as much as $5-$10 a pill when i sold it.

just for refrence i am 18yrs old now and i sold it when i was 15. so this want too long ago. i never used it except as i was prescribed but it does happen....often. just keep count of the pills and you should be fine.

Concerta is too 4ucking expensive to crush and snort, if they had TABLET ritalin than worry but your kids are fine

well guess wut, apparently u guys lie out ur ass cuz i crushed 6 of them up about two hours ago, and it was easier then pie. Fck there was something like three layers, but for someone that does oxys and hydies and everything else, it wasnt too hard to figure out...and for the feeling to be just like coke, fck u, wut kinda coke did u get, cuz id get my money back,....pce

Concerta has 3 layers, all containing the medication. Crushing and snorting will be very unplesent, and it will have less (because you have to remove the shell)

Also, it has a polymer binded to it so it is very messy to snort.

This is the most idiotic thing I have ever read. I am 20 and have adhd and I am prescribed Concerta. It is not a fun drug and anyone that takes it as a recreational drug is stupid.

i take concerta daily and it wuz nvr perscribed 2 me ever...i get them off om my friend that has adhd it works very well for me in skool buht they do get addicting becuz i take 1 or 2 wen im only surposed 2 take 1 and it does make me nervus sum times buht im addicted 2 it and cant go a day of skool with out it

now let me school you all yes concerta can 4uck you up but it dosen't 4uck up all people because people act differently to it but the best way to get 4ucked up on it is to take like 100 to 160 mgs of it and have fun the next twelve hours but it is nothing compared to the b-12 coke i get in miami it burns at 157 degrees if you know what i am talking about but also you just always got to remember its not nesarly bad if you can seperate needs from wants and don't over do your self but always be smart with it and be safe with!!!!!!!!
