Don't people feel suicidal BEFORE taking antidepressants? I thought the whole point of popping pills was to feel well enough to not want to commit suicide. Ultimately, the only reason why people take their own lives is because they are thoroughly pissed off with their circumstances, see no way to get what they want out of life, and are not prepared to accept the lot that was handed out to them, whether that lot was ill health, poverty, imprisonment, loneliness or whatever.

I know. Mad isn't it?

Yes. I've never understood why rich businessmen with good families commit suicide, nor why street dwellers ask for food to prolong what I would find an intolerable existence.

ups the risk for teens ...teens comit suicide proven moreso on antidepressants more than adults. kids swipe from parents ...what the drug companies are counting on as well. they are all satanic somehow. rich businessmen with good families are often set up the CIA.

I meant: anti-depressant drugs do up the risk for teens to commit suicide. teens are proven moreso to commit suicide on antidepressants more than adults. Kids swipe from parents... What the drug companies are counting on as well. They are all "satanic" [extra greedy] somehow.[forfeit the last sentence.] Lib-Bert wrote: ups the risk for teens ...teens comit suicide proven moreso on antidepressants more than adults. kids swipe from parents ...what the drug companies are counting on as well. they are all satanic somehow. rich businessmen with good families are often set up the CIA.

Nice to see a familiar face from another forum around here. Anyhow it's NOT easy simply dealing with the hopelessness that one feels due to their individual life circumstances,I should know because I've been suffering from depression lately myself & have been seeing a therapist once a week for it for two weeks now.I have an appointment monday to determine wether or not anti-depressants may be required as well.

Don't you? It's very obvious to me. Rich people are burdened by the pressure of their wealth. Mankind is not meant to have more than his fair share - we are happier when we are in a community, like ants, or deer. People are not like the cat who walked alone. The happiest rich people are the ones who share their wealth - they have wealth on earth and in heaven. Poor people want to live, who really wants to die? No-one, because what people really want is to be happy. And how can a person be happy if they are hungry, lonely, cold and frightened? But why should they not want to live? When I was homeless, I wanted to live - I just didn't want to be homeless! People who have lost hope commit suicide. Rich people can be very poor spiritually and just as lonely as poor people.

Anti depressants do not cure depression at all - it's all a big con trick.

sure anti-depressants dont cure depression, but they do make you, not so depressed ,while takeing them ,properly prescribed.I have suffured depression most of my life, when I was given the right treatment(anti dpressants)I felt so much better. You cant just stop taking them because you feel better, they dont work like that.Thats probably why some people have problems with the drug,I know I have, you have to keep in touch with your G.P.You basicly have to be weaned on gradually and they still take up to three weeks to work and you stay on them. The same goes for going off them. But I have to stay on them, my life is so much better for being on anti depressants.Without them I would either be in an institution or DeaD!

Dear Secret Squirrel, I understand what you said. Its a good point. However, if i went out and took another drug like LSD or Speed, I certainly wouldn't be worried about much and it would make my depression feel better without actually doing anything. Anti-depressants act in the same way. They induce a chemical release from the problem. Its funny that LSD and Speed used to be psychiatric druugs.

As with any other prescription medication you have to be careful in how you use it. I just began taking Lexapro today and boy has it done a number on my stomach but I'm hoping that it'll at least be of some help along with my continued therapy regimine.

Thanks. It takes time for the body to adjust I suppose but now I'm also dealing with increased drowsiness as well.I'm sure that that'll pass as I become more acclimated to the medication though.
