Freaked out wrote: I have been on paxil for awhile now as well as a mood stabilizer. Both times I smoked chronic while on these perscriptions it caused serious panic, anxiety, and a overall sense of worry that I was going to lose it. For me I believe it was the combination of the two that caused these reactions and have decided for me it is not a good idea to smoke weed while on these perscriptions. Let's just say that when these reactions happened it scared the crap out of me. Hey silly, maybe it's because you smoked chronic....?

Started having panic attacks when my last child was born. Smoking, and doing drugs of just about any kind made these attacks much worse. It wasn't easy, but I quit smoking pot. I do not like having panic attacks, so do whatever I can to avoid them. I'm on Paxil 25mg CR. Don't mix any street drugs or alcohol with it. I like bein on an even keel, and keeping my brian from becoming anymore fried that it already is. :)

Ive been taken paxotine for about 4/5 years for OCD. I been smoking pot for about 2 years. But I don't smoke all day, I only smoke a hit or 2 at the most at night before watching tv. Sometimes I also skip a few days. I use to drink alcohol and been sober 6 years now. I figured a hit or 2 is cool to laugh and eat lots of sweets,, but 1 night I had a bad panic attack ended up at the er cause I didn't know what was going on. I love smoking pot but if these dam attacks keep coming I guess gonna have to quit. But then I also had an attack without even smoking,,,,one day. Bottom line I think it happens cause u think of it,,,

Update - trying Intuniv (lowers blood pressure and used to treat ptsd, anxiety, panic attacks) although nothing replaces a puff to take the edge off when I'm bored/restless (daily). I would suggest it for those who have to stop smoking and are dealing with those issues. Stay away from the Strattera or any other stimulants. Continuing 25 mg Paxil and added choline, lecithin and B12 supplements.

Started smoking weed two years ago in college for my anxiety. It seemed to help at first but when I wasnt I my anxiety got worse. I am now prescribed paxil and still smoke daily but my highs arent as high or long. Problem is my body stopped metabolizing the thc because of paxil and I cant pass a drug test to get a job. Definitely have to quit smoking but if Im still on the pills will it take forever to get out of my system still? I just lost a very good job prospect because of this. Used the best cleanser I could and I've passed drug tests before but that was when I was not on paxil.

I am not so informed about Marijuana because since it is illegal, information about it is quite useless. But Paxil however, should be illegal also, considering that its side effects have prompted a lot of lawsuits and complaints. It has likewise caused a lot of irreversible injuries. What chemicals they are i have no idea i just know from experience pot feels great for awhile then when i come down from the 'high' i feel like shit and have no motivation what so ever...im a better person without it...i just wish id never started smoking regularly.

Ive experienced none of these negative effects. Drinking, smoking, etc.. I strongly believe that most of these comments are from a common source of anti-marijuana supporters.. Also, the internet is EVERYONES source for Information these days, and wouldnt you know it, the internet is regulated by whom???... Thats right.. Why is we click on the first thing that pops up after we hve searched something? And Why is that when i do deep investigative research on such topics.. Like marijuana, drug use, etc,etc... That i find more times than not, the answers given on sites like yahoo, google(any main stream media pretty much) are alll ass Backwards! We are being controlled and have been for some time. Marijuana promotes THOUGHT!!! Which is exactly what governments DO NOT WANT.. They want people divided, dumbed down, and docile. SMOKE UP! Its a blessing.. Not a curse!

Or if the weed is really good all it takes is one strong hit. I will get really paranoid. But when I balance my hits to the weed. I'm usually feeling really good. I think the key is taking small hits periodically till u reach your desired high...big hits are no good for me. But that's just me.. i totaly agree! im the samd way!

I have been taking paxil for almost a year now & when I first started I found great effects on my anxiety. About 5 months into taking the medication daily I started smoking marijuana up to 3 to 4 times a week when usually I would only do it on the weekends. After I smoked and took the medication, I would burst out in tears and had what felt like a panic attack. On several accounts I felt like I wanted to commit suicide and had uncontrollable anxiety. After reading above I realize this was a terrible idea as I did not tell the doctor who prescribed me the paxil that I smoked marijuana. I am going to try my best to stop smoking. Also after combining this with the paxil my anxiety increased even when I wasn't high and felt anxious feelings I hadn't felt since before I even started paxil. Hope this helped!

Alice wrote: I just started on paroxetine, which is a generic version of Paxil. I haven't tried weed while on this drug yet, but I tried a legal synthetic weed called pep pourri/spice/k2. This drug, mixed with the paroxetine, gave me a trip... A bad trip... A seven-hour bad trip. It also gave me serious heart palpations which stopped my breathing. So ever since that awful experience, I'm too scared to start again with weed or anything. I wouldn't recommend it. Spice could possibly do that to you anyway. I've had some seriously bad trips on spice, it also made me forget to breathe. It's unhealthy for you anyway. Never touching that stuff again.
