Panic disorder is indeed curable. Behavioral therapy is one of the most common therapies used for panic disorder, it also has a high success rate once completed. Medications on the hand help in managing the symptoms. Read more about it at http://www.zoloftsertralinebirthdefects.com/u... .

Panic order is one of the mental disorders that Paxil treats. It is true that panic disorder may be treated by medication and therapy but that's just superficial information. Some medications such as Paxil causes severe side effects that may cause more peril.

SSRI medications have saved many lives and allowed thousands upon thousands of people worldwide to live happy, healthy lives often for the first time.

They aren't for everyone. They are likely over-prescribed. But be careful listening to the voices of spammers who have something to sell or an axe to grind. Depression and anxiety disorders are also intensely dangerous.

Yes but these illnesses did exist before ssri;s came along.
If they truly were wholly beneficial anxiety and depression would not be on the rise globally. In twenty years big pharma will magic up a new super group of meds and discard ssri,s just like they did with the previous anti depressant drugs.
Focus should be directed toward the why not the how in order to prevent these conditions getting a grip over people.

So what if they existed before SSRIs? That is irrelevant. Polio existed before a vaccine. Should we abandon the vaccine? Cancer existed before many successful treatments. Should a cancer sufferer just avoid all treatments?

It's a silly non-argument. SSRIs work. For every single human? Hey, maybe not. But I'm a living example of how beneficial they can be. Your conclusion that there is no such thing as chemical imbalance in the brain is laughable and based on nothing whatsoever.

Yes but at least with polio the vaccine eradicated.
Oncologisys treat cancer with chemotherapy a toxic poison but again that is treatment to destroy an area of cellular infection.

Ssri,s neither rid nor Target as psychiatrists do not understand fully if at all how the mind operates. These drugs are a one size fits all approach.
If they were entirely secure why did glaxo put aside 2bn for litigation over suicides, fetal disorder and the horrors people have suffered from withdrawal.

I am not a psychiatrist..so I don't pretend to know all the answers...I am however an individual that deals with what I believe an abnormal amount of anxiety that has lately turned to panic. If you yourself have ever dealt with these issues you will know how deabilitating they can be. When we need to try to get them under control we are put on SSRI's. I agree there may be people who do not benefit from these drugs but you can't argue with the many many people who have success on them either. Are there pitfalls to these meds...yes of course..Are they unsuitable for some individuals..of course..are they a wiser choice than living on xanax type drugs forever, absolutely YES. Each person has to be diligent about their type aof treatment through trial and error until they are comfortable in their own skin. Some of the withdrawl claims are from people not acknowleding the importance of a very slow and tapering off of this drug and either quit cold turkey or not slow enough. All in all this has been a lifesaver for many and will continue to be until science undoubtably develops newer treatments.

If anyone here has any doubts about the efficacy and safety of ssri,s I suggest you visit
Www.paxilprogress.org .

BTW the manufacturers do concede that you should not be on these drugs forever as they can damage heart tissue.

More money is generated thru treatment rather than prevention this should always be remembered.

Noone will probably ever know the dynamic of long term SSRI's fully...however there can be damage with the whole entire body with untreated daily anxiety/stress also. I understand you are trying to get us to look at the subject from another perspective and thats ok...but for some of us we choose to treat our own struggles with the help of SSRI's, because for many of us they work. If you never have to be on one cosider yourself lucky :)

Wow, aryex, you are a fountain of misinformation. The manufacturers NEVER say that the drugs damage heart tissue.

In fact, reports suggest that Zoloft may actually help Non-Cardiac Chest Pain (NCCP).

Hey, what do you know. SSRIs can also be good for the treatment of Fibromyalgia!

http://www.niams.nih.gov/Health_Info/Fibromya...

Look, as puppy stated, nobody knows for sure about the long-term effects. What we do know is that chronic anxiety and chronic depression can be deadly.

Look at the court documents before gsk settled originally. It is mentioned as a possible and I say possible long term side effect.
Yet current UK guidelines are that you should not be on them long term . Now why would that be. Just like benzos people become treatment resistant.

Should we take the chance over the long term when the evidence that . C. B. T. Has a much greater success rate. There is a shocking Newsweek article that lays bare that ssri are no better than a placebo. I will post the link.

ssri's are the most prescribed drugs in the uk.....i have tried a few....prozac,citalopram etc but made me feel sick all the time......i am now on mirtrazapine....one the newer trycydillics and they work much better for me....take them at bedtime and you get a good sleep....the only downside is they give you a massive appetite where as you never feel full.....i have put on nearly 3 stone in 3 months!!........been working out though so feel even better as i am back to a good size....would take them anyday over ssri's!!each to there own though.....R.

I'd rather live with ssri's than just be breathing with anxiety. To me its not living,I would rather be thinking of my kids but instead i wonder is my heart going to jump from my chest all day long. Sometimes the best of the choices isnt perfection but it's still better....and getting better all the time.

i quote the matrix "Temet Nosce" know your self, dont be afraid of who you are, all we ever have is the now, thoughts, emotions cause duelling then you get in a endless cycle, just accept the feelings that you are having, become the watched of your thoughts, then they dont affect the now they just happen, im sad...yes i can feel it, so feel it then accept and watch it dissapte. Dont jump rite down the medical route, i think everyone in the world who feels that there is more, this is all fiction, or just want spiritual and mental guidance buy eckhart tolle's Power of Now, fantastic book! when read as a guide not a rule book. peace love n dubs

I was on prozac for over two years, was told I could quit just like that, no problems. Nearly two years later I have numerous sensory problems, touch, taste, smell, hearing. Not to mention all the withdrawal problems which were absolute torture for just over a year, gradually, not even noticeably reducing in severity up until month 21 when my ear pressure subsided to now only feeling like I have blocked ears and not as if I wanted someone to gouge my ears out to feel some remission. Psychological torture partnered the physical pain I endured for too long and then there is the insomnia and PSSD. Oh, and the most important, cannot feel a single emotion after all this time!

I so regret the day I walked into my doctor's office desperately needing help after suffering from stress/depression as I was looking after someone who was chronically ill. Support, therapy would have been a nice option, but it's drugs that are offered straight away! Now I have a much bigger problem than I EVER had pre-prozac. Informed consent would have been nice! They know about withdrawal, they know about it, yet they fail to divulge this important information. They only admit that they DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE DRUGS CAN CAUSE, when you are off the poison. Thanks very much, because now I know what they can do, and so do thousands of others. And they're feeding this to our kids, the elderly and anyone else who is vulnerable.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Libra

It's one of those difficult days when anything can and will happen. Someone you were relying on might let you down, plans could be changed at the eleventh hour or a machine could go on the blink. To make matters worse, your energy levels are very erratic, so you feel full of beans one minute and ready to go to sleep the next. Don't make the situation worse by eating foods that give you a high followed by a slump.
