This is to the REAL pain patients only-- like Mystic. Montel Williams a former talk show host was diagnosed with MS over 10 years ago. He described his pain as if...taking an iron rod, sitting it in a fire till the rod is red hot, sticking it in his legs and twisting it back and forth. His pain is in both legs from foot to knees and half of his face. He said at one point after taking all pains meds that did not address the pain, he put a gun in his mouth and decided he had to end the pain, he could not find the courage to pull the trigger. He tried several more suicide attempts until he finally had a revelation that he could somehow control his mind to overcome the pain. His theory is- if the mind can "create" this pains..it can "uncreate" the pain. In his book he tells what actions he took. Please dont get me wrong here, HE STILL HAS PAIN...but not the intensity of having a hot rod twisted in your face and legs, that is what debilitating MS does. After viewing several of his shows and attending one of his seminars I am convinced that "some" pain can be controlled mentally. I do realize this is not for everyone, unfortunately were all made up different. In addition, should his methods not work for your pain, he does have an extremely interesting take on how to at least combat the depression that often follows many pain patients. Its very easy to read the post on these threads, the "real" pain patents who post you can "feel" their pain in their writings, the "recreational' abusers are just simply having a good time, joking back and forth. The abusers are very easy to read and they all know who they are, just look at the list on the previous thread i posted yesterday. Mystic was the only real person in pain. I honestly knew who would respond negatively to the previous post that i did on purpose...so now you all know who you are.. you need to protect the "real pain" posters, get your own site and move on, leave this one for the real people looking for help. God Bless those in pain and Mystic please think of picking up Montels book. It may not address all your issues but it just might alleviate some. You are in my prayers, I have watched too much suffering in my lifetime, you have my utmost respect. Hospice Nurse-VN Red Cross "Donut Dollie"

You are unbelievably naive. The things that you state only to serve to confirm this. Naive is a nice way of saying ignorant in some cases. I have reposted this for your benefit. It is my response to your scathing post. My post was the least angry of all here, yet you decide to address me personally. I am a huge advocate for Chronic Pain patients, I am one myself. I have been battling Irreparable Nerve Damage and pain for 3+ years now. Yes, I have made many angry posts about a multitude of subjects but never once will you see me bashing someone with addiction issues. They have their own unique set of problems and could do without the additional ridicule from caretakers and medical personnel like yourself. I am not someone who sits around on my computer all day complaining about the problems of the world and "Junkies". I am actually a member of "The American Pain Foundation" as well as other organizations and have been instrumental in pushing legislature to the forefront that is beneficial to all those fighting with daily pain. I have taken part in letter writing campaigns and phone calls to government. I have picketed and stood up for the rights of pain patients. My contributions to society is ten fold, what can you say you have done to contribute to the betterment of society? What real and tangible efforts have you put forth to help your fellow man? The only thing it seems you are good at is sitting at your dinner table making fun of the unfortunate circumstances of people you are supposedly responsible for taking care of. I am a reasonable person, I can take part in discussions and debates without spewing names and derogatory comments but your post was different, you were actually admitting to finding amusement in other's suffering. There is something wrong with that picture when you are someone who people entrust their well being and health issues to. You are the last person who should be passing judgement upon people. You have no real way of knowing who is actually suffering from legit pain and who is not until you have seen the results of MRIs and other such tests to validate pain. Even then there are many diseases and ailments that are elusive in nature and can't be definitively pointed out, such as Fibromyalgia. Here is a disease that many people suffer horribly from and you can not see it on many imaging results. Anyway, rather than go on about this, I will end it here and ask you to take these points I have stated, into consideration the next time you feel it necessary to laugh at someone you are trusted to care for, regardless of their story. Maybe you could expend some of that energy on trying to help someone who you may suspect of having addiction issues rather than laugh about them. You have to be the most compassionate free nurse I have yet to encounter.

huh..how can you tell pain from a computer screen?
I'm just asking is it their style of typeing?
Or is it because they agree with your thinking?
Or is it because they disagree with your thinking, they can't be in pain.
If you would read what you wrote about Montel and his attempted sucide's you may have some idea of pain issues and their effect on the human body, mind, and soul.
Sorry I have read your previous staement and other people reactions and have to agree with the majority here...you are a fkn dip$hit

Nurse, with all due respect you are soooo gonna get me incollective crosshairs. Still appreciate your caring tho and thank you. Yess I do have fibro (often compared to ms as similar, very similar), but i also have a collection of oter issues broght on by "acute-type" injuries. I myself have been called a scumbag junkie on this site. my right hand to god i did not get angry, tad annoyed, but I asked name caller to define scumbag junkie to me from his perspective, and then id tell him if he was right or not. he ever posted a return reply. So i took no offence, in that situation. the forum is what it is.I look for knowledge and at times am amused, horrified, but its better than being bored in this particular situation i find myself in. Hopefully ill get some relief. while i read, i dont think about the pain, so much. I think some come on here to vent, because they are in pain, i am guilty of that. Dont go lookin for it, but guilty of takin the bait and i vent. Counterproductive, in my case sometime yes, some times no. Wil give thought to Montels book (prob will read it) I used to love to read voraciously, then the depression. always there, but waves of deep stuff, during those waves I lose interest. my garden is overgrown (still gogeos flowers blooming, beautiful) and many other things need tending. im a neat freak, so this stresses me, which just exacerbates the fms. The cfs is gettin me more nad more over the years IVE GOTTA GET IT TREATED. Nurse, i dont want to be in their cross hairs, so all i can say to you is (consider the source repeating your own words) that im not the only cp patient on this forum. For some reason, i dont know why(hasnt been explained to me yet)they feel the need to attack you, but just because a typer types something doesn't mean it has truthful content. Sincerely, Mystic

OH YEAH? NURSE! Do you believe in LEGAL EUTHANIZATION of your Hospice patients? That would take up a whole other thread! But as a former Hospice nurse myself, I legally "put to sleep" people...with high doses of morphine...until they quit breathing. Doctors orders, mind you, but it's just legal murder in my book.. I really wanna know whether this "nurse" still thinks she's all high and mighty after she admits doing this! ALL HOSPICE nurses do this! Part of the job! Nurse? Any comment?

I wasn't trying to make light of it, but I could never figure out why Kevorkian always got into trouble when we did it all the time. Morphine, 2-3 mg at a time, subcutaneously, will decrease respirations down to 3-4 a minute until the patient eventually quits breathing. It wasn't until I quit hospice until I figured out I had been legally murdering my patients...but then I thought...people put their pets to sleep when they suffer, why do people have to suffer? It's a kind way to end a sufferer's life, but still murder in my eyes...

I have a wonderful family and great friends. Disgusted is more like it, with the likes of you. It's kind of funny that poster after poster came on here bashing you for your narrow minded views and it was me that you chose to address. Whatever, go on preaching your ignorant views and we will all continue to tell you how uninformed you are and how you are in the wrong field. God forbid you treated one of my loved ones with your bad attitude, I'd tell you just how it was in front of all of your co workers and probably catch one or two of them agreeing with me. Reconsider your choice of work, you suck at it. Have a great ER shift tonight, maybe you will see me there. I am everyone that walks through those ER doors.

Darlin that Nurse didnt murder granny any more than you have donee what you needed to do. She missd her Husband who went a couple year before and neverhad quality of life after. She missed him so. She was in oain and in/out of lucidness for 3 or 4 months. Crying and moaning, breakin our hearts for her. it was her time and she was terminal She had no life to live waiting for her. the Nurses that have to do this are just as brave as those folloing the orders of the President of the United State. it's not considered murder on the battle field. I guess it's all in the way you loo at it. Pleae dont look at youself that way. you did what few could do, and you had your orders. you are commended by me and yes I believe in Euthenasia, on a case by case basis. Nobody should be told what they can do when all quality of life is exhausted. I say this in the context of which we speak and only in that context. Sincerely, Mystic
