Methadone, how long does it take to detox?

I have ben on methadone for 4 years. My daily dose is very low 25ml, What should I expect at detox time. Should I detox?
The answers that I am seeking are deffinitly individual. Each case is different. Im seeking personal information on how others have dealt with this dilemma. Any and all feedback will be appreciated..
I have cronic pain, but after all the hype I have been afraid of long term useage.What are the effects? Is there damage from prolonged use?

i have jst swoppd a half a gram habit a day over to methadone. startd on 50ml 3 weeks l8r i am only doing 1ml! cant seem to get off it, any ideas? been to wrk building everyday. nothing for 40 hrs in agony!

methadone is harder to get off of than most of the opiates people get put on methadone for. however, a new drug, suboxone, is much easier to get off. it is easy to switch from methadone treatment to suboxone treatment. suboxone actually heals your receptors, and you can come off of it , healed, within a month or 2. If you have strong mental addictions, it is recommended you stay on it longer in order to help get rid of sudden cravings.

only certified physicians can prescribe suboxone, many come from methadone backgrounds. They are not hard to find, do a google for suboxone and you should come across a sight with physicians listed by city/state. hope this helps, suboxone has been a miracle drug for me and many others I know. We are not 100% OC free, but we are no longer slaves to any kind of opiate either. It is nice to know you can turn down an opiate when you know you've done too much or that you can't afford it. this drug will being to get rid of withdrawl symptoms within 15 minutes as it disolves under your tongue into one of the major veins on each side of the underside of your tongue. You must go to your first appointment in mild to moderate withdrawl(basically your pupils should be dialated), if you are still high on an opiate or methadone... the suboxone will compete for receptor sites in your brain and precipitate withdrawl(cause withdrawl instantly). just dont' go in high as a kite and its a wonderful medication. no more life long methadone regiments....

I went down from 100mgs of methadone to 15 mgs in 6 months, all along I have continued taking my Rx of 5 vics a day + 320mgs of oxy's. I have like 6 suboxones, can I step off the meth and my Rx take the subox for about a week,then ogo back to my regular dose of vics and oxys and not suffer methadone wihdrawls? I wish I could trust you guys,I sure could use a couple bills worth of oxys for a rainy day!! peace boulonman

if the suboxones are 8, take 1/4 every 2 hours until you feel normal, then only take it as withdrawls start. while you are taking the suboxone, do not take your meds either. they are all opiates. in fact, this will stop withdrawl for all 3 meds.... although with the ammount of oxy you are taking each day, i doubt 6 tabs of suboxone would last long enough to kill your physical addiction completely. in fact, i'm not sure why you have methadone withdrawl if you are on oxycodone, the oxy should take that right away. also, the 5 vics you are probably not even feeling with 320 mgs of oxy. unless it says oxy/apap then you have generic percocet.... and thats something completely different it means you probably have 5 or 10 mg a pill, but i'm not sure which you mean

i hav been on a 150ml,dose 4 5yrs.i went cold 4 days ago feel really bad ,cramps sweats,barely slept.how much longer 4 these severe symtoms?

i wanted to know how do you taper off suboxones? it has been 5 months since i stopped taking percocets and at the time of me withdrawing from them my friend began to give me suboxones to help me with withdrawals...its been 5 months since and i notice that the minute i run out of them i feel awful...can you please let me know how i can taper off of them??

Sadly enough it's going to take at least 6 mos. I've detoxed a few times in my day & the best advice I can give is DON'T EXPECT TO FEEL BETTER SOON (like, "tomorrow I should be a little better -- uh, no.) The days tend to drag on & on. I'm only being realistic, as counselors who haven't detoxed can't begin to know how we feel. It takes a tremendous amount of patient & will power on your part. You have to want the detox very badly & surround yourself only with people who can "put up" with how lousy you'll fee. You'll need to be proactive -- What does help are acupuncture, hot baths, benadryl, trazadone or Tylenol PM, TV. I had restless leg really badly, so I'd lie on the floor and furiously run ("kicking" in the air) til the sensation left. Again, be patient with yourself. It takes so much strength/courage to kick & you can do it. Good luck and many blessings

you took suboxone to get off percoset? what dose of percs were you taking daily? how many/what mg? are you useing subutex now? what dose? how often? with or w/o opiate blocker?

I have just gotten oxycodone HCL/ACETA5/325 what will that do? How long does it take to kick in? I just had my 4 wisdom teeth pulled and they gave me this and I am in so much pain right now. PLease let me know ASAP. Thanks.

its the same as a percoset 5mg, if ya want it to work faster place a dollar bill over it and crush/rub-flatten w/ a quarter, then consume it like a bc powder aspirin w/ a drink/water or do like the abusers/addicts do_ snort it! itll work in minutes the 1st way(20 mins topps) or seconds the 2nd way!!!

I have just finished coming off of methadone . And it was a ruff ride. Yes the restless leg syndome was awefull I did the same as AOL just keep moving my legs in the air looked pretty stupid but it helped at times I was so dam tired I could hardley do it but if I didnt it would drive me nuts. I just finished so I still have a long road ahead of me . I am on t 3s which I need for pain so I think that might help I dont recoment it because you just start a knew addiction but for me it is a must .At least when I do decide to stop them it will not be as bad because I have done it before and it is easy compared to methadone or perks.Dropping under 20 and on was hard I felt pretty sick alot of the times my heart would pound like it was going to come out of my chest .I cryed alot but I just keep telling myself it was the drug and it was. I am at 1 ml and have 4 days to go so . I am glad summer is coming because I know the nights are long at least I can sit outside and look up at the stars . I went tanning because I knew I would look like shit and I did . Some days I could hardley make it to the bathroom never mind going tanning but I pushed myself. I have 5 grandbabys and they were on my mind the whole time . I wanted to see them grow up and that gave me the strength. It can be done but you need family and friends and most of all people you can talk to who have been through it themselves because believe me no one else will understand they will try but they just dont get it . Feel free to ask me for any advice I will help if I can. ok .

hey i think suboxones are great, I have been off 160mgs of oxys a day for 2 months now and I feel great. I was wondering what happens if you take suboxone with methadone?

What do you mean by it will work? Like what will it do to me?

not much with the combo, its a pretty stupid idea if you're really trying to get better. wait until you get of the suboxone, that will be bad enough. methadone withdrawals it isn't, but it isn't the walk in the park doctors have you believe. imagine a case of the flu lasting for a month with severe insomnia. its like that. again not as bad as methadone, and not as bad as short acting opiates, but it will not be fun. if you are really trying to make it hard on yourself take methadone. first of all you'll have to take more than usual to feel anything while on suboxone and take it at least 24 hours after your last dose. then you'll have to wait a day or two to get off the methadone with the subs because if you take them right away it could cause withdrawal and there's nothing you can do for that once subs cause withdrawal. 2 grams of raw dope aren't going to do it for you at that point. if you're doing with te subs stick with them, everything else is crap, and subs aren't that much better, but they at least aren't as intense when its time to quit and dont leave you broke... if you have insurance at least.
