Broker, I picked up the NA big book today at an AA meeting. I am excited to see what it has to say, but more excited to read the stories in the back. I just hit a meeting with an old timer and we went out for Brunch so he could do some 12 step on a newcomer who went out and drank last night because her husband asked for a divorce. She really had a hard time identifying as an alcoholic, she said she drank wine for the taste. Sometimes I am glad I am a junkie more than a drunk. I know I am an addict because I get dope sick. You can't deny you have a problem when you go into withdrawals.

Lolo- how's it going my friend. You are correct the nil was super expensive my dr gave it to pat and it was at least several hundred per month oh yah and the $550 per month she wanted per dr visit on top of everything else. Crazy.

Just to catch u up I was doing really good had a very smooth taper and was off for almost a month now I've been back on for a little over a month now but with a fury I'm up to 150 to 240 daily of roxy 30.(for the last 2 weeks before that it was just oxy and hydro but at smaller doses)so it time to get off again tolerance going up very fast going to start on subs in about a week and hopefully do a similar taper as before. I just got a huge promo at work and it's starting to interfere there and at home so it's time to be done for good. I'm actually

How are you broker? Hope all is well. It.is true, some people may react to suboxone over subutex, however , it is important is remember that the naloxone component is not absorbed in the body. It has veryyyyy little GI absorption. The buprenorphine is the cause of precipitated withdrawals. It isn't a full agonist at Mu receptor sites. It is partial agonist/antagonist, and can cause feelings of W/D when taken, esp with other opiates in one's system.
Yes, doesn't hurt to try neurontin SHORT TERM. Im a firm believer in do whatever the he'll you gotta do to get off and stay off. Get into NA right away, and get a support system going.
Naltrexone is a very experience medication, and I've seen prices anywhere from 500-800 charged to patients. Not sure how accurate that is, but I will check my references. Key thing is you have to be opiated free I believe for 10-14 days ( I think 14 is correct) before starting it. They usually give it to people dependant on alcohol, as alcohol can cross over onto opioid receptors. It comes as a refrigerated IM injection monthly.

Much more calm far this time around. I already blocked out so
E time to be off work. This time I'm just going to start the meeting right away after my wds instead of putting it off that was the missing ingredient last time.

Lolo what good if your backed up if u know what I mean. I have tried walmart brand stuff without the stimant and it's not working to well. Should I try with stimulant?

Also what been up with you. You been doing ok? Also has anyone heard from renea?

If that doesn't work id suggest mag citrate. That shit will purge you. Bisacodyl is a stim too and may be harsher on your stomach.

Hi, everyone, it's Zoe....wow, a lot of new people and new posts...that's great!

I have a successful story to share with you...hope it helps...

I was out of town for the weekend, and, I ran out of pain medicine yesterday at 3pm. I woke up this morning, and luckily, I brought the natural pain medicine called D-Phenylaline and some Clonidine with me. I have never taken the Clonidine,(helps tremendously with hot and cold flashes), but, I have been taking the D-Phen off and on when I was low on my opiates. I took 2 of the D-Phens and 1 Clonidine this morning at 10am. I drove 5 hours home with nothing else, and, I was actually cracking jokes with my daughter! So, when I got home, I did have a loose stool,(sorry, I know that sounds gross!), and that was about it. I have taken another Clonidine and 2 more of the D-Phens. It looks like it is very doable to do this, versus Cold-Turkey and Subs., at least, for me, as the Sub route did not work out for me. I will keep all of you posted!

Take care, God Bless you all, and lots of prayers coming your way!

Hey Zoe, that's great. Glad your back from your road trip. How did it go? I did the clonodine thing a few times and it does work. I made it through on that stuff, probably 4 or 5 times. It was the staying sober afterwards that was where I messed up. Just be careful how fast you stand up cause you can get crazy painful head rushes, but they only last a few seconds. Broker, I like the 24 hours a day boox except that it seems like it is way more christian than the big book, talking about scriptures and stuff, otherwise besides that I really like it and find it is a good way to start the morning. I find that it has the uncanny ability to have the perfect topic of the day on the day I really need it. It's probably more like I need advice on every topic every day, but whatever, cause it works. Yeah, LOLOL is back. Where is Renae? I will try and message her through topix.

Alynn,by short term what do you mean? A month? A week? 3 months? Suboxone is a very long acting medication. I don't mean to scare you, but you will may still have withdrawals. 8 mg is still a good sized dose. Most people us suboxone to taper over a few days. The kinetics are very variable on the drug, and people sometimes run into trouble with it. Others however have success.

Please be more specific. Ill be up all night so im here for ya.

It's like a reunion here. Glad to see everyone. I too am searching for recovery. After a 2.5 week stint with subs and nearly a month without my doc, I caved in an effort to detox from subs. I would fall asleep for an hour and wake up crawling out of my skin. That and the lethargy convinced me to take just a tiny bit for a couple of days. That was just before Christmas. I have to figure an ever shorter term sub diet this time as I think the nearly three weeks on sub even at minuscule doses got my body needing it to function. I am ashamed to be a statistic as I fully expected to be successful and helping others just as Foxy is.

Hoping the best for everyone and keeping the faith that we can fight and beat the demon!

ST, don't beat yourself up, I had a few things working in my favor to get me clean, firstly I had a job where I was isolated from the rest of the staff, so I could feel like crap at work and no one would notice, that was a huge bonus. I also had a junkie boyfriend who knew what I was going threw, so I didn't have to hide it from anyone. I have no kids and few responsibilities, so I was free to lay on the couch for 8 hours a day after work then sleep and repeat. Also, I had a small methadone habit that I really didn't want to have so I had extra motivation because I didn't want to be strung out on that too. I also went to AA and got a sponsor even though I didn't want to, my gut made me do it when my brain said no. You will find your groove and get through it. Remember, I had detoxed 20-30 times in the past various ways and this was my rock bottom. I didn't want to have to tell my parents and go into treatment. Alynn, you will probably start to feel some withdrawl symptoms in a day or two. I found it took a couple of days to feel like crap, but I was on Subs for 3.5 weeks. That is a lot longer than you. Let us know how it goes. I think we would all be interested to hear the results.

Thanks ST. We can all do this I've done it before for a long time. Foxy is doing it now. And trust me everyone I've talked to on here is in a much better place( I didn't really have place to stay, no job, cash etc. But I did have a loving and supportive family and AA which made all the difference) then I was when I got sober about 7 yrs ago. So today my life has gotten so much better because if the yrs of sobriety I had but I hit a bump in the road that I need to take care of now and I truly believe we can ALL do this. Hope everyone is having a good day.

Im noticing though that tapering does work. I've tapered myself down a good amount. Its just my work schedule makes it feel like im taking more but im up for about 18 hours out of the day, working the other 6. Key things on tapering:
1) keep blood levels constant. If 10 mg gets you OK, then keep it at that and don't turn back. My mistake at first was taking 25 mg in the AM and then going to 10. You don't wanna do that.
2) try to extend the schedule later on. So instead of every 6, go to every 8 hours.
3) after adjusting, give your body 2-3 days to adjust. I know this is said everywhere but this really depends on the person. I've seen guidelines that say 10% every day. That's pretty unreasonable but its doable.
4) sleep is a good time to extend that interval. So if your taking a med every 6 and can sleep maybe 8 hrs that's 2 hrs ur giving ur body to heal. Doesn't seem like a lot but it helps.

For me I do all of mine at one time. So I'll do 150+ at one time then I don't do anything for 24 hours.(which I'm sure is not the best way but it's the only way I feel it)
I actually only did 140 yesterday and am still good so I'm just trying to take a little off each dose each day.
I am thinking about trying tramadol short term. I know it has worked well in the past to get rid of wds but the thing is I dong like it so might be easier to taper with. I know u have to stay under 400mg a day but I might try some trams before I switch to subs and do a similar short term taper. Anyway just wanted to check in hopefully everyone is having a good vday. I'll post later

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Pisces

Having to bow down to convention or limitations is enough to make you want to scream right now, and you'll do your utmost to rebel in any way you can. Be careful about this because you could easily get on the wrong side of someone who has power or authority over you. It feels as though you're battling with forces that want to keep you under control, and you don't like it one bit.
