I can't speak regarding your chronic pain. Severe/moderate? Temporary/permanent? Coming down from oxy and kicking it intensify pain temporarily. Ex pain paitients here said that it takes a month clean to gauge normal pain levels after kicking.

Sounds extreme. Jail or death. Is there a reason you cannot kick?

As I have read the above posts, wow. Get your lives back. There are many of us here that have kicked this drug. We too, were/are chronic pain patients, however, we found we were taking the pain in pill form, oxy. It's actually that easy. If you are in pain, takng oxy, then you need to stop. It is not easy, nor pretty, but it is the next step that I feel you are all looking at. You all know it is hard, but possible. I suggest many of you go back into older posts and read what some of us went through and then how much better we all are. We have our lives back, we are not in chronic pain anymore, and we are not depressed. My depression lifted in 2 weeks after years of severe depression. It was the oxy. Read about withdrawal and how long it last. You will need to be home for days during WD.

After reading most of these comments and notations, it comes to mind that most of the people here have become addicted to Oxycodone and Oxycontin after using these drugs at the hands of their physicians, not drug dealers. That is the most interesting fact, and then when the addicted person goes to his physician for help, he is called an addict and put down and sent away with no help. Maybe it's time to put the onus on those doctors to give us all the help we need, and to help us get off these drugs. They don't mind if we are on the drugs...they just make a better pay cheque.

It didn't depress me but other people have stated that it did. And then there's the rebound effect with the comedown, both mental and physical. With drugs, what goes up must come down. And if you've used continuously for 5 years, the euphoric effects of the drug will be muted at best. Or virtually nonexistent, with the exception of the initial "come on". Five years of continuous addiction can be depressing in itself.

I don't know what to think about this. Whatever, if you are deeply depressed then it is obvious that this combination of poisons is not working for you. If oxy was the initial cause of your depression then maybe it will persist until you give it up. And maybe you wouldn't need three other drugs that don't work.

If you haven't kicked before there is no way to know your reaction to WD. But tapering gradually to a low dose will soften the landing. Fear of WD is a bigger obstacle than enduring an "imperfect" detox. If there is such a thing as a perfect detox. Whatever works for you. Just do it at a rate that is tolerable. Moderate WD. Don't try to avoid WD. No such thing. WD is very temporary.

cant stop wrote: I originally began taking oxycodone and vicodin for chronic pelivc pain, I was terrified bc of the risk of addiction. I only started taking them to try and regain some type of normal life and now things are worse bc I can't live without them. I know my story is so similar to others but I have "quit" cold turkey before and suffered through the withdrawls without medication. I only start taking them when the pain is too much for me to withstand. I have recently moved to a small town where the physicians here REFUSE to treat pain. So now I resort to other means of obtaining them. They are ruining my life. I am in a catch 22 situation. I love my family, I love my husband. I just want to be pain free and pill free. How can I Manange my pain without the support of a good physician and doing something illegal. I have never been in trouble with the police. I am risking everything for the sake of staying out of pain. I am so desperate, someone please help me. I have started having suicidal thoughts, I am so scared. Its going to be ok!!! I'm on day 4 I think and am going through hell. I've had the same suicidal thoughts you are. You just have to trust in the fact that it will get better:) love always.
