Yes, Opana ER is pretty much the same as Oxycontin except Opana contains Oxymorphone instead of Oxycontin which is in Oxycontin. Oxymorphone is a drug that has been around for along time and just now has the FDA approve it's extended release form. Opana also comes in immediate release 5 and 10mg forms as well. Opana is about twice as strong as Oxycontin so one 10mg OC is equal to a 20mg Opana ER. Go to www.endo.com to learn more and also research the drug at these websites. www.erowid.com and www.pharmer.org and remember the active ingrediant in Opana ER is Oxymorphone.

I switched from 80mg OC to 20mg OPANA and I would have to say that it was much more effective against the actual pain and had much less instances of break through pain, but it also had much more side effects but people react differently to these two drugs. Oxymorphone is more on the level of morphine and has a very high bioavailability which leads to a rapid intake on the brain. In other words the OPANA comes on alot stronger than OC which probably lead to the side effects I experienced, or at least that is the way my doctor explained it. Personally I would recommend anyone on OC to give it a try. At this point DRs still don't know much about it so there willing to experiment with it. My DR had no problem with me switching back to OC. However if you abuse OC then you should not switch because OPANA is alot harder to abuse (snort or chew or inject). I think they are manufactured the same way as the 93 33 OCs. I beleive it is Penwest or something that makes the time release ingredient.

I am curently taking Opana ER and Opana IR. I absolutely love it. It does not efect me like other meds have. Prior to the Opana I took Avinza, which was not half as effective. Not only was there still pain, but I had severe sweating, light headedness, chronic constipation, and it did not seem to last as long. Also for a very short period of time (after surgery)I took Oxycotin which after a week or two I returned to the Doctor. Oxycotin made me a zombie! One minute I would be talking and the next I would be waking up. Not good when you are a smoker and have children to care for. With the Opana I feel I can function properly with out worry. The only problem that I have is that, without the pain I tend to do a little more than I should.

I have never heard of opana..How can I find out about this new drug. I have been on oxycontins for chronic pain since 2000. I know so well about the withdrawals if I just dont take my 80s 2xs a day. I would love to try the Opana if it is better than oxycontin. I hope it is cheaper too. I pay 600.00 a month for 60 pills. Thats a lot of cash. I hate handing it over to the pharmacy every month. I need to find out about this lawsuit also as I just happened upon this page and realized theres a lawsuit going on. I haven't ever heard about it. Thanks for the info! Lady in pain that takes her meds right because I have to make my 60 last 30 days.

These Opanas are orangish pinkish hexagon shaped with the imprint E674 / 10.... and i would have to say that 1 ER10mg = OC30mg...I think i have just fallin in love with Opana much better than OC...exceipt taste worse then oc.......... PS Lost Vegan i think the opanas have the slippery gel coating on the outside and takes a few minutes to get it off like the 93/33......just dont take the coating off the 93/33 next time u do a rail thats what i do......oc's coating is real light quickck to take off and tastes amazing

Well I guess if your crushing, snorting, injecting...ya know a drug addict and looking for the best high its your drug, but for me taking my pain meds actually for pain. The Opana ER 20 and Opana 10 IR doesn't compare to pain control of OC 20mg and 15mg Oxy IR. There don't seem to be any bad effects like hot flashes, sweating, itching, etc. from Opana, but as I said for me their not much good for pain either. YMMV. Oh for the abusers, snorters and alike be very careful with the Opana its more likely to kill you when taken the wrong way and mixed with alcohol

I have to put my foot down on that one...sorry. Dilaudids are about 5 times stronger (mg for mg), but the problem is the max you can ever find them is in 8mgs. This isn't good..could you imagine a 80 mg dilaudid!!!!!!!!!!

my daughter is on oxycodone 30mg and its just not working anymore and she's in misery..oxycontin is a no go cus it really didn't do much for her. so, i guess i'm confused about oxymorphone, oxycodone, opana, she's allergic to morphine so none of that. i was gonna ask doc about dilaudid which is what hospital gave her during her spine surgery 2 weeks ago and i'm not sure how it really worked cus they kept screwing her meds up. so, we're trying to figure out what to ask doc for since morphine products are a no no.

Id say aim 4 the patches or the 80s for primary care and 30s or hydromorphone for the break thru pain... but limit that to extreme need times only, bcuz the tolerance goes up fast and then nothing will work aside from sedating her... if she was on these prior to the surgury, thats the reason shes suffering now, the dose was established and now shes in even more pain than b4... in that case, a day of suffering, cutting back, will do a world of good as far as lowering her needed dosage, no dr will keep upping the dose, at some point they take other measures, 240 mg oxy 80(3 pills) and the 30s for break thru per day, is about the end of the line for people on there death bed suffering so she will have to scale back at some point...too move 4ward...If she had never been on opoids and this happened (the surgery) the oxy80 and 30s would sedate her, shed be down for the count... so im sure its more a tolerance issue, than a medication issue... good luck if theres any details I can give just ad yahoo.com to my username, and email me... she does have ins right? the meds are paid for? if you need a cheaper price I put a link in a post earlier to save on the meds for out of pocket payers....its alot lower price than anything ive seen b4.

I have read all of the comments on this site, and I have to say that I was shocked by some. to all you snorters, and injectors, you know who you are, you are the ones who make it hard for the ones who realy need the medication, impossible for us to get it without being considered addicts. First off, i'm not sure whay anyone would come to this site to admit to being an addict of some sort, either snorting or injecting. It's because of this that I am looked at as if i'm an addict and have to fight for my pain medicine. There are people out there who sit and suffer because they are refused access to pain medicine due to the ammount of snorters and injectors. Just sit back and consider everyone who suffers because you need a fix.

i think this is ridiculous, i mean seriously. What kind of medicine is it that you are all buying? I believe it's called PAIN medicine. Therefore it's one and only use should be to relieve pain(anyone that disagrees is more than welcome to comment against my post). Im not at all trying to be mean about this, but do you all even consider all the people you are hurting when you get these medicines to have a fix? My mom has had more than one back surgeory, and i have to sit and watch her suffer. There are times when is incapable of even moving off the couch due to her pain. So i took her to the hospital, the doctor was afraid to give her the medicine because he declared her an addict. If it weren't for people snoting and injecting these Pain medicine's, people like my mom have to suffer. Hope you can sleep at night knowing people are suffering because you are misusing many different kinds of medicine's.

first of all im sorry to hear about your moms suffering, and yes some ingnorant abusers dont make things any easier to get. however opiods do cause addiction and wether were in severe pain or not we are addicts if we use regularly.focus your anger at the government and those who deprive us of getting the drugs we need.we should all be able to legally buy any drug we need over the counter and at decent price with guaranteed purity.the only way to ease the pain of those suffering severe ailments and the pain of life in general would be an end to this ridiculous war on drugs, and an end to the mindset of controlling what people can ingest in their own body.closedminded intollerant prohibitionists are the problem.I long for the day when high quality, affordable drugs of every class can be purchased at the local conveinance store by consenting adults who are aware of the consequences of use by a well informed labeling and dosing info. That will be the only way people will be able to ease their pain, and wont have to relie on opinionated docs, greedy street dealers, and wont have to worry about withdrawals, arrests, imprisonme nt or the wrath of evil, controlling, tyranical, cop s,or the intolerant ignorance of uniformed masses that want to deny us of our inalienable basic freedoms of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happyness!!!!
