pregnancy after ortho evra

okay, so I got off OE in November,had a period right away,then not another until late january,then in march and then only spotting brownish colored stuff in may!! the first two were haevy and painful and this last one doesn't even seem like a real period...have a blood test to see if I am preggers,I am not,which is upsetting to say the least b/c my husband and I are trying to have a baby!! This is SO FRUSTRATING!! Is/has anyone else been having these problems?? If so,is there anything you have done that maybe has helped?

HI amanda, Imaj here. I feel your anticipation. I got off birth control on November 30, 2005. My husband and I were trying to have a baby. We got pregnant in May had a miscarriage in July and then pregnant again in October. We are expecting in July so far so good. So i would say hang in there. Your body has to adjust to being off of the birth control and I was told by the docs that it could take at least 12 months. SO hang in there!!!

I wanted to find out if getting off the patch would be hard. My husband and I are wanting to have a fourth child. I have been on the patch now for almost 2 years. What kind of steps do I need to take to stop using the patch, and to get pregnant again? What have your doctors told you?

Hello ladies! I just stopped the path a little over a month ago. In that time I have felt sick more than not. For a week I was completely b&*%$y, even my husband pointed it out. I have been having cramps frequently this last week. My af was due on Friday the 15th of June, 2007 and still nothing. I have taken pg tests and they are all neg. What are normal side effects after you leave the patch? What is the time frame that some have gotten pg after oe??? I don't want to wait a year like I have read, is there any hope for quick pregnancy????

me and my husband are in the same boat... i havent had a period since october. and i have had blood test done thinking i was pregnant but they always came back "NO" none of my doctors can find anyting really wrong but i think that there is something wrong!!! so i dont know what to do. i have only been like this since coming off o.v.

I was on the patch on and off for a few years now. I have been feeling alittle wierd. I was scared to take a PG test but finally today went to my doctor and got a positive result. I am 6 weeks and i stopped using the patch May 13, 2007. There is hope. Just believe!

Hey ladies.............I've been off the patch since April because my OB/GYN told me to stay off of it for 2 months and then start trying. So needless to say my husband and I started the end of June 2007 and my expected start of my period is July 19th 2007 but we shall see. I was so anxious I took one of those first respone 5 days prior to your period is suppose to start. But it said it was negative so I'm not sure if those are real, my husband and I are hoping it's just too early to tell. Any thoughts...........

K so i have posted on here before... like others i went off the patch after being on it because i was scared of the side affects. i did have the really bad headaches while on it durring my off weeks. but my problem is now that i went off january 11th had my period january 16th and nothing since. we are trying to get pregnant but this isn't helping. now im reading that ppl have had their peroid in over a year. what is up with this patch... y is it still out there???? ppl need to b warned!!!! not so much about what happens while on it but what happens when you go off of it!!!

Hey Heather, I feel your pain even though I've only been off the patch since April. My doctor did tell me that the patch does release 60% more estrogen then regular birth control pills. So that would explain your headaches from having so much estrogen. My doctor said don't stress about it but it's hard not to when you want a baby so bad........... I got my period yesterday after I took the at home test so I was a little down but I will try again soon

Hello! after reading all these comments/problems all of you had after OE, i got so worried. i just happen to browse the internet looking for some info about "getting pregnant after OE". i have been on it since oct 2002 & just got off it aug 1 2007 so it's like a little short of 5 yrs! then i had a period for 4 days. i don't experience any SE though except for moodiness w/c i am not actually sure if it's a SE or just plain me! nway, my hub and i really do want to have another child our first is now 5 1/2. i didn't consult my doc prior to stopping OE, but i think i'll give her a call tomorrow! hope all will be well.....

I took off my last patch on the 29 June for my seven day break and my period started on the 30 June after going on a roller coaster ride. It lasted for about 5 days which is normal for me.(So LA LA JAMES ATL GA I don't think your period will be much different because your not putting the patch back on) I had been on the patch for about 2.5 years and previously on the pill for two years before that. My period were about 33 days every month before using any contraception. We decided that it was time to start trying for baby but I thought I would wait until my first natural period in order to calculate the dates as the instructions said on the patch box. So I was using the withdrawal method which I know it not completely safe but on the 26 July we forgot and have continued without since then. About a week after that I had a brownish discharge. Is it possible that I could have conceived so quickly? I've also had stomach cramps, nausea, bloating etc since which I think is due to coming off the patch. Took a pregnancy test on the 02 August which was negative. I would love to have baby now but didn't realise about all the side effect and how long it could take. I wish I had come off must sooner. Is it possible that I could have conceived so quickly? Let me know what you think ladies. Thanks for listening.

I too have quit the patch after 5 years of use, I took it off the end of June 2007. I had a normal period on the 5th of July. I haven't had one since. I did the preg. test thing--all neg. I have occasional light cramps, but nothing ever comes. I too am attempting to get pregnant, and was hoping O.E. would be different than the pill. (my last preg. after the pill took 8 months to concieve, and my periods were all over the place the whole time...i would skip 2-3 months; which made calculating my due date very difficult). Prior to bc my periods were relatively normal. I am totally disappointed reading everyone elses experiences like mine.

I stopped taking OE on 8 June, got my Af on the 10th. And now nothing! I am a week late now. After looking around the bulletins on babycenter.com , they have one for getting off bc and specifically OE, some people it took months to years to get pregnant. I wish I had known all this before even starting the patch. Needless to say, if and when I do have a baby, I will not be going back to the patch afterwards.

How long should I anticipate my period to come after stop taking my OE patch? Pls, somebody...anybody help!!!! It's already been 45 days and I've taken a preg test and to no avail it is negative. If you can help me out ladies, pls do..

reallywannaknow i finally got mine 3 weeks late. so about 49 days in my cycle. Hope you get some peace of mind soon. The anticipation of either starting or being pregnant is hard.

This really sucks... about a year and a half ago I went off depo (B.C. shot) and switched to O.E. I told my Dr. then that we wanted to starting trying for a baby in about a year. I went off O.E. at the end of July and have not had a period since. I have taken about 4 preg. tests. ALL NEGATIVE. I wish my Dr. would have told me that this can happen with the patch... I would have considered other options.

I have been on OE for 10 years. I finally stopped in August. I haven't had a period since. My husband and I are tryting to conceive but I don't know if I am even ovulating. It is so frusterating. When will I get my period and when will I become pregnant?

I have been on the patch for a year now because I kept forgetting to take the pill. I've gone through 8 wks of patches without bothering to take one off so I wouldn't have a period. As soon as I took of the patch and left it off, i got my period in 2 days. Everytime. I've never had a problem with the patch but now I want to try for another baby and i hope it goes okay.

I was on the patch for a year and stopped for about 2 months the first month I was about a week late the second month a week late and now 2 weeks after my period stops I am spotting. Not quite sure what is going on but I am trying to get pregnant and I have gone through about 5 pregnancy tests since I am never late. The patch really gets your body all out of wack. I will not be using it for future birth control methods that is for sure. Hope everyone gets their baby!!!
