Has anyone reached a settlement with Ortho Evra? I am awaiting a settlement in my law suit. it is taking FOREVER! I had pulmonary embollism in both of my lungs, with recurrance three years later. If you have received a settlement, please post comment here about amount. This is anonymous, so, you can not be found out for telling it.

I am still waiting as well. Had Pulmonary Embolism in my left lung in 2003. Sorry to hear you have gone through this horrible ordeal as well. I was told my chances are higher of having another one thanks to the first! I have major panick disorders now and was in the ER so much last year. Good luck to you.

Thanks for the encouragement. I really want someone to respond with news about a settlement. I'm currently not working and the money would be great right now.

I am also waiting for a settlement and I wish they would hurry up! You said you had a recurrance clot-I was told once I was off the patch they I likely wouldn't get another? They need to pay for what they have done to us! We almost died and some have. Hope it all works out for you all!

I had a stroke and have been out of work since 11/04 due to the patch and been told by doctors I'm totally disabled and will never work again and that's due to this stroke and, I function on a 5th grade level. I have filed a claim haven't heard anything, please let me know as soon as possible. The money is tight, no insurance and I had to sell my house. Please advise.

I'm sorry to hear about the hardship that you have encountered. It REALLY is a horrible, horrible situation. I believe that after they settled some initial few cases that they are now attempting to stall. I pray that you will have a 100% recovery and that you can return to your life as normal. God Bless!

you are so right Special Royalty! they are now stalling!!! My information went to J&J Oct 2006 and my attorney says we'll be luck to hear anything until Oct 2008! I honestly think we should so go, or threaten, to go public! Oprah, The View, Larry King, the morning shows out of NY! Maybe that will get their attention! This entire thing is still so hush-hush. Can you imagen if it really went public how many more women will come out with their stories!

You know, I agree. The story has since been swept underneath the rug. And everyone is ignoring the lumpiness. The many lives taken and others forever changed by using "The Patch". I'm going to seriously look into some type of national media coverage. I have not signed any type of agreement about NOT going to the media about the pending lawsuit. There will be something signed (I assume) after a settlement is reached. But they have not settled, they are stalling. And I'm really, really getting tired of waiting.

That is very interesting. Thank you for the information. It's more interesting that this young woman's life was only worth 1.25 million dollars. The lawyers get a third. After taxes, because uncle sam will get his...her family is left with what? A little in the bank and a bunch of memories.

That is sad that her life is only worth 1.25 million! What would the employees of J&J think their daughters, nieces, sisters lives are worth-I would think a lot more then a little over a million! And I was courious if the trail for Nov 19 would be settled before hand and apparently it was.I bet J&J are affaid to go to trail because they will end up paying out a lot more then if they don't go to trail. It sounds like they're looking at files that have to do with deaths before looking at others. They better get cracking on taking care of these cases-we suffer for months, some for the rest of their lives and we have to wait, what years!!!???

I thought 1.25 million seemed low and did some research. I remembered reading about someone with brain damage receiving 10 million and I was right. There is an artical about a 37 year old, Philomena Ugochukwa that had blood clots, stroke and brain damage that it states she received a $10 million settlement. But that doesn't make any sense? Why would a family only get 1.25 million for the death of their daughter when someone else received considerably more money? I definately think Miss Ugochukwa deserves $10 million, but the family of the 14 year old should of received a heck of a lot more then 1.25 million!!!

My attorney sent everything to J&J October 2006 and filed my case with the courts May 2007. He said that it could take until next fall. Now if that means a court date or a settlement I'm not sure. All I know is it better not end up being a class action lawsuit! But yes it seems that they settle before the court date, so yes if we could just get a court date it would really help. As in my situation though, it's been filed with the courts so now it's the courts we have to wait on-which really bites! As for Alycia Brown-that is just cruel!!! These people lost their daughter!!! No you can't put a price tag on your child-but 1.25 million, that is just wrong!!! I would've taken it all the way through the court system and a trial-it's the principal-they will never have their daughter back because of this-it is just WRONG!!!

I just whish we know what we should expect on a settlement amount. Some are disabled, died, brain injured. I was lucky but what hurts me the most is I wanted more children and because of all of this I can't have any more! What does J&J think a child is worth? I dreamed of having 3 with my wonderful husband-yes I got one and am very luck but because of all of this our life has been altered! And I am scared daily, specially at night when I go to bed that I'll get another clot and die! the thought that I almost left my husband and child alone-my daughter could've grown up without her mom because of J&J!!! Do they not care about this? J&J should be charged for murder and attemped murder! Because that's what they did-They knew the risks-yet they still put the product out their-what the hell were they thinking??!! That's what I'm going to put in my thinking on whether their offer-when it happens-is worth settling or taking it to trial!!! I'll say I am praying for all of you that didn't get so lucky! I hope you all get what you deserve and J&J feels a hurt in the end!!!

I was told in Feb. of this year several cases were going to mediation in July. Then, I was told the defendants were ready to get serious and make offers and they would be meeting again in 6 to 8 weeks which would make that September. Well, that never happened. It is almost November and still no word and my attorneys don't have a date yet to meet with them!!! I know how frustrated everyone feels about this because I am in the same boat. I am sure the defendants have to go through everyones cases extensively and make sure they truly feel they are at fault, but it is ridiculous how long they put us off. They should be working day and night on these cases and compensating the victims in a timely manner. I gave my info to my attorney back in mid 2005 and it was probably filed in early 2006. It is frustrating how long this is taking. We suffered once now they are going to make us suffer again!

No court date as of yet. Supposably, the defendants have counter offered according to the attorney, but it was extremely low which is a slap in the face to me. They were supposed to meet again to try and come to a settlement, but like I said, that was in Sept and my attorneys are now not getting back to me which is bothering me. I just hope I am being given honest information. I hate being in the dark! I just want all this over with. It is just more stress on myself and my family!

Just reading all of you all comments really break me apart even more than I am already. Ladies is there anything as a group we can do? I agree if we went public nationally would that speed anything up? I think there need to be some fire put behind J& J. I have been dealing with this since 12/04 and my case was filed in the courts on 9/07, because SC have a 3 year statue of limitation law I was told that on 10/23/07 that on 11/01/07 J& J would know who I am, which shocked me because I thought they found out about me when they sent the letter in Sept.of 07. Please advise me ladies, whatever you all decide to do or if you hear anything.

This all is very stressful-I went to my Dr. a month ago and my blood pressure was up! And I'm not even working-I have nothing to stress about, but sitting around the house thinking how J&J is screwing all of us is stress enough! J&J can not get away with what they have done. I recently read a report that their proceeds from the sale of the patch will still exceed the settlements! That can not happen they need to feel the hurt! But I don't even know were to start on going public. I wonder if Dr. Joel Lippman the VP that got fired from this would help us. Also we should ask our attorneys if going public would help or hurt us and if they can help us expose J&J for what they really are? I am so with all of you if going public is what you want to do!!!

Michele, you said that the defendants counter offered-do you know what the amount was? At the begining my attorney said there had been some offers but they were too low but he wouldn't tell me the amount. I'm just wondering what we all are to expect-since they only think a 14 year old is worth 1.25 million! We also need to go public to get the patch recalled! I was watching The View one day and they were talking about these schools that want to give girls 11+ birth control and they mentioned giving out the patch!! Can you imagen what could happen if all these young girls start using the patch??!! It makes me sick just thinking about it!

I don't have exact figures either. From the info I gathered, it was probably around 100,000... and I know a much higher amount was asked for to begin with. Really, there is not a price that can be put on a horrible life changing event such as almost dieing...or death itself!
