Cracked Fingertips Remedies, From Shampoo To Glue

I use "Udderly Smooth", a smooth, white cream, very sparingly, a little goes a long way, costs about $3, for about a 1/2 pint size container, available at WalMart, sometimes at Ocean State. Story goes, somebody noted that milk-maids, milked cows with bare hands, used an "ointment substance" they rubbed on the udder in the process and had beautiful, smooth hands, never dried or sore fingertips. No pain with applying it, immediate relief, takes a few hours to eliminate all pain,roughness. I use a tiny bit each morning to maintain it.

What's in it, please?

You can buy concentrated vitamin E oil (for example CVS Pure Vitamin E Oil 28,000 I.U. 0.99 OZ). Apply a small amount to your cracked fingertip, then wrap a fingertip bandaid around it, and leave it there for a at least several hours to a day. This is especially good to do before bedtime, so it remains undisturbed. Works great. I used to have these fingertip cracks. FOr some reason I don't any more. But when I did, I relied on the viatmin E oil. So did my mother...

Another good item to use is "Bag Balm", most drug stores sell it and no perscription needed. Years ago it used to be used on the bags of cows.

I am convinced they are caused by a vitamin deficiency. At the first sign of a crack, I take about five multi-vitamins a day until it's gone (usually three days). It has worked every time. I usually only have to do this once a winter.

I have tried just about EVERYTHING without success. Then I read about Lotrimin AF for cracked fingertips and I tried it. The cracks began to heal IMMEDIATELY. In one week they are all closed up and nearly healed over. I've had this problem for a few years and it has been soooooo painful. Finally it looks like I will be able to use my hands NORMALLY again. What a relief. I thought my cracked fingertips were a sign of old age and/or diabetes. But apparently it was a FUNGUS all this time. I own horses and my hands can get very dirty. In the winter when they are cold and chapped apparently that is the perfect environment for a fungus to take hold. GOODBYE FUNGUS!

I find some information about Ketoconazole (Nizoral) at http://ketoconazole.biz There is description of side effects, dosage, using of this medicine. Hope it will be useful.

I prefer to take Nizoral (I order at http://pillrx.info ). It has a good effect on me and works good.

I found a product called LipoHydroDerm in my local phrmacy that is the only thing that has fixed my cracked fingers and skin. you can also find it at Lipohydroderm.com I haven't found anything else that works this fast or works this long term.

Cracked fingertips have plagued me for years. Compulsive moisterizing helped but didn't solve the problem. Super Glue did. At the first sign of a crack, I apply the tiniest drop of glue and carefully hold the crack closed for a minute. It gives me no more problems, heals up, and I can keep right on moisterizing to try to prevent the next one.

I use real butter with my meals almost daily. Whenever I get some on my hands I rub it in. Same thing with bacon grease or any animal fat. Rub it in. This and letting my dog lick my hands are the only things I've done different, and my fingertips haven't cracked for two seasons. I used to take Omega oil supplements. That did not prevent the occurence for me. Made me wonder why in the world plant oils would be a replacement for the animal (skin) oil we lose that results in dry skin. Too bad they don't have lotion made from human skin oil!
Prior to discovering this I tried all kinds of lotions, super glue, bandaids, and had pretty good luck getting them to heal and nipping them in the bud by cutting away the dried/dead edges with a nail clipper. Do this when the first sign of cracking appears, but careful, not too deep! Applying enough bandaid sheer strips with the gauze removed kept the area moist, so they wouldn't crack further, and helps hold the crack shut. Also make sure your fingernails have nice rounded corners.
I am so thankful to be rid of this suffering! Hope this helps someone else!

Just found Porter's lotion from Bozeman, MT. It's more like a stinky liniment but I really like it. Ingredients:
water,witch hazel,glycerine,alcohol,greens oap,amonium carbonate,camphor,Rosemary oil.

I have suffered with this for at least 6 months but, finally my fingertips are healed...and I used everything. I tried superglue, coconut oil, tea tree & E, Burts Bee Hand Salve, Neosporin, Bag Balm, and Egytian Magic. I slept wearing ointments with glovesp; and do dishes with gloves. I bought Neosporin Eczema Essentials Cream and in 3 days, my fingertips were healed and not dry and cracked and feel smooth and healthy.

I will tell you as a florist I had this problem for about three years. I have seen four dermatolgist plus my regular doctor and they all gave cortosine creams, lotions and you name it. I read an article on the people's pharmacy sit and some man was complaing about the same symptoms and he said he took Tumeric, yes tumeric the spice used in indian food. I bought it on a sunday and took 3 gel caps of 500mg.at 4:oo pm and by midnight I couls see the differbce in the paper cuts. By morning they were pretty much healed. I have been taking the same dosage for 2 1/2 weeks and have not had a problem with my hands. They are smooth again and feel soft and no more cracks or paper cuts. Its amazing!!! I will not stop taking it , it also has some wonderful added benefits a well. make sure the Tumeric you buy says 95% courcominoids ( something like that on the bottle) The brand i purchased was Nature's Way , I tell you it works for me !!!

I have suffered from cracked finger tips for ages and have tried every possible cure.
Have now actually found something that works - Scholl cracked heel ointment - PERFECT !!!

I have been a cashier for years and every winter i get cracked finger tips.They bleed and they are very sore.I have tryed everyhing and nothing works.Please help.

I found out I have a nickel allergy, so working with cash and touching all the metal things in an office caused so much pain with bleeding cracks. I found some plasters which stayed on up to 3 days and then they were healed. Then they stopped making them - I think they were made by Blisteze. I've now found inexpensive Faster Healing Plasters (with wings(?)) which are hydrocolloid and sold at Wilkinson's in England. They are marvellous. Otherwise I put thick cream or Snowfire on at night with cotton gloves and then good non-perfumed handcream on during the day. Good luck everyone.
