I have been taking Prilosec OTC for 3 years for GERD and Barretts and now I am reading that there is a connection with possible hip fractures? That is kinda scary. What is even more scary is that when I called my Doctor he told me that it wasn't linked to fractures. I am 58 and have osteopenia in my left hip and have been having pain for about a month now. My Doctor swears that it is not related to the Prilosec OTC. Well, I have taken myself off of the Prilosec. Now I will contact my regular
Physician and see what she says. I have learned the hard way that you have to be your own advocate, because Doctors don't know everything even though they think that they do and you pay them the big bucks.

Typically best to follow physician's recommendations. Often healthier lifestyle modifications can help. Talk to your physician and see if Elevation of the bed, bricks under your bed, a pillow wedge might help. Found a Discount on the Bedge pillow wedge use discount 101 when ordering on bedge.com

I have no faith in my Dr with this issue any more. I am 31 and I broke my hip in December and they gave me the prilosec while I was in the hospital because I took it before and I have a horible time with the pain meds I had to take to get my physical therapy done.

What is worse is that I saw my family dr and my surgeon they both new I was taking this drug and still said it was harmless. No one ever told me that I had to wean myself off or the stuff either.

I really don't understand why doctors these days just want to mask symptoms instead of finding the real cause and heal the patient.

I am not saying I don't thinks doctors do great things the guy who fixed my hip did a great job.

I guess what bothers me the most is doctors don't want to listen to thier patients anymore. They just take the word of the drug company who of course benifits from this.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Taurus

Someone is very short-tempered, and they're liable to fly off the handle at a moment's notice. Maybe they're feeling vulnerable in some way or are desperately trying to defend what they see as their territory. Be sensitive to this and don't goad them into being even more irritable or upset than they are already. Frankly, it's just not worth it.
