As ive been diagnosed im in pain 24/7.As the so called know it all feds, drug ABUSERS and neglectful doctors who are too afraid to stand up and say,This person has irretractible chronic pain and needs medication. When i am under controlled pain i function. When i am not i am not able. What can we do as chronic pain VICTIMS to get noticed. To get the help we need and NOT labled as abused or seekers???? 1 It is important to undertstand that if you are in real pain (physical) you will NOT become addicted to pain meds. Talk to your doctor about this. If your doctor does not help please find another doctor. |

1 I'm sorry Tiffany but you are wrong about pain and addiction. Anyone, in pain or not, can become addicted to narcotics. Addiction is generally a personality flaw, people with addictive personalities will generally become addicts if they start taking narcotics. The most important thing to remember when taking pain medicine, for people with chronic pain, is that you cannot always be pain free. If you will take your medicine as prescribed, that is your best bet to stay on medication and keep receiving the meds. When a person decides to go further then the doctor allows and takes their medication up days before they can be refilled, then, you are in trouble. I'm not saying that on bad days you can't take an extra pill, but on good days hold back and save one. If you do this you can keep within your scripts and stay safe. I know, I've had chronic pain for several years and it takes time to understand that pain meds are not your friend, they are just a needed evil. Keep that always in mind!! |
addiction is a desease not a "personality flaw" |

I have been taking morphine for 10 years. Am I addicted? Yes, but without it the pain takes me straight to bed where I am inoperable and just wish to die. I have pain all the time, but morphine does help me cope. At 66 what do I care if I am addicted as long as the pain is somewhat controlled. Otherwise, I might as well be dead. I get no high from morphine and cannot understand those who get a high using it. No government can know what I need, so stay out of the medical business government. Stay out.

addiction is a disease, defined as when you take something that hurts you, but you still take it. Dependance is taking something to increase you quality of life and keep going, reduce the pain enough to keep mobile. ME - 22 years chronic pain. 9 years fighting to get meds that work. And I just got them last week. cheers - C

1 Addiction is a desease as in Alcohol addiction, but people are different and some become addicted easier than others. My brother has had an alcohol and cigarette addiction for years. I on the otherhand have always been able to drink and smoke socially without having it effect my work or personal life. So, this is why I sometimes say personality disorder, because it seems that some just can't stop doing things, whether it be good or bad for them. |

1 I could not agree with you more my friend. However you and I BOTH know the damn addicts have caused this for all of us. It is sad. It is out of control. And it's too late to turn back now. We ALL have to deal with the consequence these people have caused us. Right along with the irresponsible Doctors that got paid to do so. |

Did your friend also tell you that you could be locked up in prison for selling just one pill for fifty dollars...is it worth the chance? MS Contin are schedule II narcotics. I know because I take them for pain...they are damn good too! |

1 http://jpet.aspetjournals.org/cgi/content/ful... It immensely helps me, just can't eat that much or you'll be constipated. Try to balance it through the withdrawl stages. |

..........well i happy for you but as myself with out fentanyl and oxycodone i could not hold a job ..so you might not know what some of us have to live with PAIN WISE >>>> |
|
Screw that, my disc between L-4 and L-5 is practically gone, I can feel the pain all the way through to stomach and kidneys. I want a JOB and am going the traditional way via chiropractor and natural meds. By the way, I am 37 and just don't think it's right to live off of the taxpayers money as income every month. Depends on what is wrong with you conclusively. And yes I do know the pain, JACK!
