After visiting the Addictions Unit of the Hospital that I will be attending for assistance with methadone withdrawals I do not have much choice but to try and cold turkey my methadone as they do not have adequate facilities or treatment to assist with the withdrawals and they will not allow me to go off my 34mg dose all at once. I am also not allowed to bring my herbal supplements to assist me with my symptoms, the beds are tightly squeezed into a corridor, separated with curtains with the reception desk about five feet in front of the beds with no wall or nothing to separate it! I am not allowed to bring a music player with headphones to listen to relaxing and soothing music, and there are no saunas or any additional homeopathic treatments to ease the pain. The only thing they offer are meetings and talk therapies. I am scared to say the least so I have chosen to prepare myself by quitting cold turkey two weeks prior to entering this facility.
I do not normally smoke pot, but I plan on smoking a lot to get through my withdrawal symptoms at home as well as use my detox kits and herbal remedies. I'm wondering if anyone has anything to share about their experiences using pot to help get off of methadone. Vini, if you read this, do you think it will be helpful still to go to saunas and sweat the methadone out while I'm smoking pot? Or will the body have to work extra hard to sweat out the toxins from the pot and the methadone? With the sauna therapy, I plan on going to a local public pool that has a sauna in it, it is a steam sauna so it is probably not as effective as some of the others ones, but what is the recommended amount of time to spend in these saunas each day? Anyone's comments will be acppreciated! Thank you~ Jaylea

jaylea,i dont think you will have any problems.being up north you hopefully get the good stuff so you only need a couple hits.imho you will get more relief then added toxins.i would use it too help use your anxiety.just remember less is more with kbg.i was lucky to get some and forgot how powerful it is.sounds like you got your stuff ready and should do well.drink lots of water and take some wild salmon oil or flax seed, just a good quality oil to replace your fat cells.as long as you replace fluids you should be fine.just listen to your body and ease into it.one drug at a time was how i did it.now i just smoke every once in awhile and i can enjoy it now.
to answer your question about length of time in sauna i would say as much as you can do but you will learn more as you go.narcanon has people spend up at 3-4 hours a day in 30-45 minute shifts.i take a cold shower to cool off or you can take a dip in the pool.you might feel weak so push yourself to get thru the other side.if you have the money i would look into the portable infared sauna for home they work faster than a steam sauna.do you know if the saunas electric heater in them or are they steam?the electrics can dry out the air and give you headaches dont forget to pour water to produce steam but im sure they will show you what to do.there are so many types of saunas these days its hard to give the right advice.but i hope this helps.

I've been looking for this Ultra Clear Plus kit at a few different health stores and I can't seem to find anything. I started taking this Thisylin Cleanse a couple days ago and I have another different kit from Sangsters to continue on but I would like to pick some up some Ultra Clear in couple weeks when I head to the states. Maybe you can help me, do you know of any chain health stores out there that carry it for a decent price? Even any good health stores to recommend would be great, thanks.

Ya we've got the good stuff up so I don't wanna have to smoke to much. The first week, but after that I can hopefully cut down. The sauna is electric but I'm gonna steam it up when I go there! I take Omega capsules every day, so would that be enough or should I supplement them with extra oils throughout the detox? I can't believe I'm gonna have to stop my herbal and vitamin supplementation for 10 days when I'm in the hospital! You'd think they'd encourage it! So anyway here are some of the things I bought to take, if there's anything good I should add that you can suggest then by all means! I bought a free form amino acid complex(I think they act as precursors for building neurotransmitters in the brain), a B vitamin complex(good for stress), gotu kola(good for brain function and mental clarity), calcium & magnesium(for re-building them up in the body due to their depletion during methadone detox), burdock root(blood purifyer), some turmeric powder(can't remember), valerian powder(which is the grossest smelling herb I've ever come across! I would recommend caspule form for this one for anyone else considering it for anxiety!), ginseng, and a multivitamin. Thanks for the help!

you cant buy it in stores.it has to come from a independent seller or online .i get mine from a chiropractor.but its best if you can find someone around you that sells it.here is metagentics website.i really noticed a difference but had to keep drinking lots of water to keep from feeling worn down by the toxins leaving the body.i did a body mass index before and after and i went from 21% to 14% body fat in a month.and my bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) testing scores from 6.1 to a 8.7.(zero your dead and ten your perfect shape)its a medical food that slowly detoxes your body.they use it for chronic fatigue, liver problems.i'm not saying its a cure all but everybody can use a detoxing after all the toxins we intake thru the environment, food and water.i only have one kidney to clean my blood so i need all the help i can get.i have spoken to several doctors and they say its a great product.i've heard methadone leaves high levels of certain metals so this made was hard on my body.if you give the body the right food it can and will heal its self but its hard to eat right when you don't have the energy or motivation to take proper care.then you feel even worse from the body fighting to detox and it turns into a cycle thats had to break so i hope this can help people simplify what to take during detox and heal faster.you would think that if you take this medical detox food before and during methadone withdrawal and not wait till the worst parts of withdrawal.this is just my advice and i'm sorry this stuff isn't easier for u too find.http://www.luckyvitamin.c om/item/itemKey/50788
here is a link to buy it.UltraClear PLUS, provided as a powdered beverage mix, is a medical food for impaired or compromised detoxification capacity, which may be associated with health conditions such as:
— Alcohol/chemical dependency
— Atopic disorders
— Chemical sensitivity
— Chronic fatigue syndrome — Fibromyalgia
— Food allergy
— Generalized arthralgias
— Migraine headaches
Provides the same great macro- and micronutrient base formula and benefits as UltraClear, but with added support for those who are imbalanced detoxifiers—people with low Phase II activities.
Imbalanced detoxification may be due to genetic predisposition, a history of chronic nutrient insufficiency, and/or toxin overload, which can result in a buildup of reactive oxygen intermediates and a subsequent increase in symptoms and/or tissue damage.
Features added glycine, taurine, sodium sulfate, and catechins from decaffeinated green tea to better support Phase II activities.
Safe for long term use in individuals with chronic exposure to toxins.
Available in delicious Original and Natural Berry flavors.
Comes with a Quick-Start Guide or a more comprehensive Patient Guide for complete program guidelines.

I need some help. My friend has been on methadone for pain for atleast 3 years and now has lost his insurance. he has been tapering down for a couple of months, but has been on 160mg day for the last 3 years. Now he is almost out and on the last 5 pills after cutting down since February. He also has hypothyroidism and hasn't any of this medication also. If he takes xanax and drinks a lot of water, will this help? I have 15mg morphine and hydrocodone APAP/500mg tabs which he used to take, will this maybe help him through this? I know I should not give him any meds of mine, but I am really worried and would like him not to be in such agony. I need to help, I dont need anyone yelling at me, I just need to know what to do. Please give suggestions. My questions are if xanax, morphine or hydrocodone will help.

I don't know enough about the morphine, xanax and hydrocodone but if you want advice, copy and paste this and post it in some of the bigger forums where a lot of people will see it and I'm sure some of them will be able to give you good advice! As far as the morphine and stuff, I've heard it's easier to get off of them than methadone, so if your friend could take those for enough time once he's off the methadone and then tapers off of them instead of methadone it may be easier than going off the methadone and it could be dangerous for him to go off methadone cold turkey on his high dose. Are you okay for your meds if you give some to him?

If you have a close friend that can give you three days of their life take advantage of it. What you are doing could explode in your face and you may not be able to make decisions or articulate what is going on with you in a public place if that happens.

You need a voice and you need someone who will know if it is hospital time.

theres much more advice over on the methadone metal and physical withdrawals thread...come on over, ask for james, he just went through methadone withdrawal, and he used a suppliment system from dr dave...he swears by it, but i highly reccommend ultra clear in conjunction with others natural remodies....hey, ive heard pot really relaxes you during the mental withdrawals..I had a load of anxiety during my wds, anxiety was by far a killer for me, i paced alot after the physical wds were over, mind raced, all that ugly stuff..but definatly go to that thread, you will get great support over there...see you there...good luck, zen

You are on the right track. Actually, for people who are taking pain ie methadone, vicodin, oxcycodone, etc for pain if you smoke pot while taking the pain killer you will never get hooked on the pain med! Unfortunately, pain clinics do not support pot smoking while suspensing these medications. I am currently taking methadone and oxycodone, times three months, and I am still smoking pot, not as much as I would like, and my pain clinic is treatening to rehab me for pot. Dumb! They refuse to research the connection. They rather see people get hooked and research other things that don't work. Today, I stopped cold turkey. With the little pot in my symtom let's see how severe and how long the withdrawls will last.

..are you out of your mind? Just what in weed is going to stop opiates from becoming addictive?Does it help with sleep, cramps and a few other things? Yes it do,is it going to prevent a habit due to injesting narcotics? Hell NO!!! I been burnin sice age 11,now 51,guess who has had more than one go round with narcotic/opiate addiction? Wherer the hell did you ever get the idea weed prevents addiction? You are dead wrong, does it take less meds to ease discomfort/pain when stoneded? Yes,but that aint gonna stop a habit from forming,so push the kush my way at least I can use it correctly...

I was in a rollover accident and I had to take vicodin 2 every two hours for a year and a half. I did not want to add sleeping pills so I smoked a blunt every night to sleep. A year and a half went by and one day the pain stopped and I said good now I do not have to take vicodin anymore. I stopped at that instant. I never had withdrawls of any kind. What I have found is that if a person smokes pot at the onset of taking opiodiates and continue throughout the duration of pain treatment it works. and yes the weed allows a person to take less of the opiates. the weed binds to the receptors first. Now I am on oxycodone and methodone for another recent accident I am not supposed to smoke pot, but I cant see myself getting hooked on methadone and oxycodone so I smoke anyway. I did not smoke as much because I tried to conform with the program but I smoked a little anyway. I have found that I did not need the oxycodone for break through pain. I stopped the medication yesterday and I am going through extremely mild withdrawls. I was only on med for 3 months. I only smoked 4 blunts that month, I wished I had smoked more! This matter really should be researched, I told one Dr. and he said weed binds first. At first when I smoked the weed after starting the meds I could only take two puffs and I was extremely high and I had to lay down and I sweated profusely. After two times I did not have that sweating problem and it was all good. So, I did not conform with the program totally. wished I had smoked more weed then I would not be experiencing the any withdrawl

Xanax defo help w/ the anxity part and yes any synthetic opiate will help as well, but your friend is or was on a considerably high dose so I would'nt expect a maricle and everyone is different!
I've been on methadone for 6 years and have been tapering down as well!Pot helps a great deal!!! The one thing to keep in mind is you don't want to replace one habbit w/ another, but when I go off my methadone I do smoke pot and take my xanax! The hydrocodone helps w/ the pain and the whole rubberband feeling. Your muscles will be sore from being tense and even a muscle relaxer will help or xanax. I found if you calm down and get comfy and try not to keep your mind on it helps, you'd be supprised how much is mental rather than physical...although at the time it feels all physical!
Also I'd go to the health food/vitaman store and look around also your friend should eat healthy at least until he's done...McDonald's won't help anything!!! Hope this helped a little, good luck!!!

I smoke everyday and have been on methadone for 6 years...Methadone is wayyyyy worse than vics or percs by far!!! It takes at least 2 days to feel it though, but yes the pot helps!!!

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Scorpio

Don't let yourself be caught up in a crowd mentality. Just because someone else makes a major production out of what should be a simple matter, doesn't necessarily mean that it has to affect you adversely. You might be able to bring down the volume with a tap on the shoulder and a meaningful look. Even though it might not seem like it, your cool head is definitely appreciated at times like this.
