I don't know what a cbc is, but I have an elevated enzyme in my liver that has my doctor checking for auto-immune hepatitis.

IS HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE GOOD FOR CHOLESTEROL ?MY HUSBAND JUST GOT PUT ON THE MEDS. GOT TOOK OFF THE LISINOPRIL.HE HAD A CARDIAC ARREST LAST OCT. 2006,SUFFERED BRAIN DAMAGE. HAS NO SHORT TERM MEMORY.

a cbc is a complete blood count including red blood cells, hemoglobun, hematocrit, etc. The info suggests that anemia is a possible side effect with Benicar HCT |

haas anyone had purple spots appear on legs as a result of taking hydrochlorothiazide?

On my HCTZ bottle, it states not to be prolonged or excessive exposure to sun or artificial tanning. Does any one know why this is? My doctor just seems to think the medicine just puts me at greater risk of being sunburned. I figured it was due to maybe with it being a "water pill" and possible dehydration.

Yes, but these spots on my legs appear to look like tiny veins (spider veins maybe). I never had them before. |

Can everyone here tell me how long they have been taking Hydrochlorothiazide? It hasn't been long for me, maybe 4 months and within the past month, actually longer because it's 2 months now, I've been experiencing hair loss. Has anyone else experienced this side effect? This has got to be the culprit why my hair shedding is so high because I haven't been under any stress or anything different in my life. I asked my pharmacist and he said it's a possibility that this medication could be causing the hair loss and I need to discuss this with my doctor. Yeah right, I know he won't want to change my medication.

Could getting off of Hydrochlorothiazide cause kidney stones? I took the drug for about 10 years and then decided to attempt getting pregnant. Since April 2006 to today, I have had three seperate issues with kidney stones, and last October I actually had them surgically removed. Now, I have kidney stones again, and still don't have a baby.

I had a bunch of stones both before & after HCDZ. All were related to diet, namely eating nuts (all kinds but Almonds are particularly bad); and dark leafy green veges. They contain high amounts of Oxalic Acid which form Calcium-Oxlate stones. |

Years ago had a mild rash reaction to a sulfa Rx. Started HCTZ 3/09 for mild HTN, 12.5 mg QD. No rash, but started having diarrhea 6/09. Liquid stools QID. 12 lb weight loss. No other sx---all labs & stool samples WNL. M.D. thinks it is an adverse reaction to sulfa component of HCTZ---has anyone else experienced similar symptoms?
