I started taking Fosamax 70mgs.with vitamin D on 3/24/2006. After approx. 1 week I started having left side abdominal pain this has continued and has gotten worse. Has anyone else had this happen? This is really bad pain. I took gas meds, metamucil, pepcid, you name it thinking it might help. Nothing has helped. If you had this happen how long after stopping the med did the pain stop.

You should ask your doctor about your symptoms. They may have nothing to do with Fosamax. Your doctor is the only person qualified to make a diagnosis. He can ask questions and order tests to help him/her decide if your pain is related to Fosamax.

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF fOSAMAX CONTAINS SULFA ? I AM ALLERGIC TO SULPHA AND HAVE HAD 4 YEARS OF HORRID SKIN LESIONS WHICH LEFT PURPLE SCARS NOW GOING WHITE ,THIS HAS BEEN CLEARING UP AS I WENT OFF FOSAMAX TWO MONTHS AGO. I SEE THAT ERYTHEMA MULTIFORM CAN RESULT FROM SULFA OR OTHER ALLERGIC REACTIONS

I tried taking fosamax 3 times in a 6 month period in 2002, then recently in 2006 I tried one pill with devastating results. I had extreme pain in my jaw and my sholders. i even had a frozen sholder and was fired from my job because of this injury. I know it was fosamax. I had dental work done at the same time as I was on fosamax. I thought the dentist had really done a very bad job and even had three root canals on two teeth. One I had done twice. I never had problems like that before. My teeth are just now in 2006 not sensitive. It has taken 5 years for the pain to go away in my jaw. I hate fosamax, it made me hurt all over in my bones. So the doctor prescribed and gave me Celebrex and we know where that went. Celebrex made me hurt even more. I could not believe a drug to help bone pain would make it worse. Any doctor that would prescribe it and deny that anyone had muscle or bone pain is not truthful. Three other women that I know of have had simular problems and have retried taking this type drug and can't remain on this poison. I think if the FDA approves something- I will not take it- they are paid off or something is very wrong. I even said when I was trying to take it that it would someday become "Lawyer Food" and I see now that it has. It ruined my life, lost my job and took a long time to recover. Now I can't make ends meet. Thanks to Merk.
We need to speak out, take action and get rid of the corrupt FDA.

I,started on fosamax several months, as I am a WW 11
Disabled veteran and I have very serious hip-back-and also my right arm, later my teeth started to get loose and gums sore, I always over the years had beautiful teeth, up to date they have extracted 6 teeth with more to follow, gums still very sore even after having these teeth extracted, one morning after not feeling good I went to emergey clinic at VA, they could not find any health problems, blood sample tsken while blood cells extremely low, down to danger level, no medication given except discontinue Fosamax, within 10 days my white blood cells went up to normal I as well as many others are very concerned of Foxamax.

November 2005 my 81 year old mother started taking Fosamax for low bone density. She had a severe reaction that resulted in her losing all her energy; she could barely walk or move. The Dr. took her off it for 3 weeks and most of her energy returned. She started on the Fosamax again and did not suffer the severe reaction but became gradually weak to the point 8 months later she had to stop taking Fosamax (Drs direction) because of a severe bone infection. Blood tests were done and all blood indicators extremely low (RBC, WBC, and Platelets). Bone marrow tests tested possitive for advanced MDS (pre-leukemia). When combining the fact that MDS is a bone marrow desease and Fosamax is a drug that acts directly on the bone, makes me very suspicious that Fosamax had something to do with my mother developing advanced MDS.

Fosamax D was perscribed to me by my GYN for bone loss. After taking it for 3 weeks, I started to experience severe pain in my (left)hip and in the muscle down the outside of my leg to my knee. I stopped taking it after 4 -5 weeks because the pain got so bad I could not sit. After seeing an MD, a chiropractor, a neurologist, I had numerous tests, took pain medication, used pain patches and had xrays, not one doctor could discover why I was in pain. I am still, one year later experiencing the pain off and on. I believe it is directly related to the fosamax D. I believe it caused some permanent damage to the nerves. Sorry I ever took the medication.

My 80 year old mother was diagnosed with leukemia in July, 2006. She has taken fosamax since 1995 when it came on the market in Canada. For years she experienced severe low back pain which she never had before. She was diagnosed with a calcification in the pancreas (medical articles have been published on the relation between fosamax and calcification in the pancreas - search the web and you will find). She started losing weight, 40+ lbs. since taking. In Sept. 2001 she developed seizures with no previous history and no family history of. The oncologist described her leukemia as having no bone marrow. While on fosamax I noticed her appetite waned. She is now off fosamax and is being kept alive with blood transfusions. A pharmacist called fosaxma "draino". I believe this is a very dangerous drug, mostly being given to women and not enough study was done.

I AGREE WITH YOU 100%; AS I HAVE EXPERIENCED VERY SIMILAR PROBLEMS, TO THE POINT OF BEING PRACTICALLY HOUSEBOUND! NO WAY, YOU JUST CANNOT TRUST THESE DOCTORS THEY ALL STICK TOGETHER AND THEY GET PAID OFF BY MERCK THE MAKER OF FOSAMAX... THEY GIVE THE DOCTOR`S SO MANY FREE SAMPLES TO GIVE TO US POOR PATIENTS AND MERCK WINES AND DINES THE DOCTORS INCLUDING THEIR ENTIRE STAFFS! THEY HAVE LUNCHES & DINNERS DELIVERED TO THEIR OFFICES! IT IS SO DISGRACEFUL!! AND WERE YOU EVER SITTING IN A DOCTOR`S WAITING ROOM WHEN A PHARMACEUTICAL SALES REP WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DR. BEFORE YOU?... AND AS YOU TRY TO SIT OR STAND WITH ALL OF THIS HORRIBLE PAIN FROM THE POISON THAT THEY HAVE GIVEN US... SHAME ON ALL OF THEM THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT OUR HEALTH ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS $$$! GREED! THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAW-SUIT AGAINST MERCK; PLEASE IF YOU HAVE BEEN HURT LIKE I HAVE ADD YOURSELF TO THE LAWSUIT! WE NEED TO BE COMPENSATED!! I AM PRACTICALLY BEDRIDDEN AND I CAN NO LONGER SIT HERE AT MY COMPUTER BECAUSE OF THE PAIN BUT I FELT THE NEED TO HELP ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE THAT HAS BEEN HURT BY THIS POISON--DON`T TAKE IT PLEASE!!!!!

I started taking Fosamax about 18 mo ago. At first there was no problems, then after about 10 mo. I started feeling so stiff in my hips and legs after I had sat or riding in the car for awhile. I found a web site where others commented on about a similar thing, so I went off Fosamax and in 2 weeks feel much much better. What a relief. I am going to just take 1200mg and 800mg of calicum and vitamin D respectfully, and not worry about my osteo penia. I thought I was just getting old at 64.

I've been taking Fosamax for at least 3 and a half years and have noticed increased pain in my jaw (only on the left side) and slightly loose teeth. I've been to the dentist and they seem to think it's decay from not having crowns on my two root canals. I'm beginning to realize that there is more to it than I thought.
Also, strangely enough, i've noticed that my wrists, ankles, and hips seem smaller (more fragile). I have some achiness in my right hip too. My past couple of bone density scans show stability, even improvement in some areas. I am an avid walker, and I'm seemingly deteriorating. That's odd. Not good for someone whose under 40 years old huh? What'll I do when I get into my 50's & 60's...?

I'm scared. What do we do? My doctor did a bone scan on me over a year ago and said I had bone loss. She put me on Fosamax. I needed to go have dental work done and they didn;t want to do it while I was taking Fosamax. That was last June. I've basically been off it since then but what in the world does someone do who is having bone problems. I had already fractured two ribs, two different times before I was put on Fosamax and I'm scared of breaking more bones. I don't trust my doctor. Everytime I get up or even turn over in bed at night, I can hear my bones cracking!!!! Can someone direct me where to go, who to go to. thank you so much.
