I understand what you're saying and agree to quite a bit of it, but my experience (five years usage and two years post-withdrawal) has been that it really doesn't matter WHO your mate is: generally, you're short-tempered as hell and just want to be left the fuck alone. You could partnered with with greatest guy in the world and it'll fall apart.

As I say, that's just my input. YMMV.

READ THIS IT IS A TRUE STORY IT HAPPENEND TO ME DONT LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU AND DESTROY YOUR FAMILY!!!!For 8years I have been on efexxor it started out with a caesarean delivery which the specialist doctor and anaethethist doctor stuffed up at a private hospital!!!delivering me to much anaetesia for my frame I had a spinal block.They were talking about playing GOLF and should of be concentrating more it was a bussssy day in hospital I had had to wait for theatre to be available.I could not breathe after too much anastesia was delivered I thought I would die.Anyway the GOOD was I delivered a beautiful baby girl the joy and light of our lives!!When in hospital the doctor said I may be depressed???would I like to talk to someone???Well no because being a mum 2nd child I knew when the milk comes in hormones are all over the place.Anyway every doctor I visited would never recommend counselling or EXERCISE////?????WHY NOT???bECAUSE THE DRUGS GIVE THE DOCTORS A KICKBACK YES HOLIDAYS ETC THE MORE THEY SELL THE MORE BONUSES THEY GET...Efexxor took away alllll my sex drive and at 45yrs I still have none..The highs and mania if I take this med is amazing it is similar to severe alcohol withdrawal!!!!And addictive no matter what they say.I am now down to 37.5mg and will never touch again in my life any ssri except exercise and love from my kids and hubby if I can get that back.Mum at school whispered behind my back or so I thought it gave me irrational thoughts everyday.My pcscholgist now says there is nothing wrong with me no bipolar or anything just a friendly person who wants to talk(i love people).Because I chose to go private I was a victim and trusted so called professionals.Effexor is dangerous it made me loud and obnoxious you dont care about anyone but yourself!!!My little girls friends 8yrs and 14yrs called me crazy...Invites to partys dropped off I shed tears so many Ive lost count.My teenager wldnt let me go to school functions.The pain I have had to go through and I am a survivor pls don not let this happen to any more of you.The drugs companies purposely remove bad effects you wont see the site it will come up http server done!!!try it its true Im not a doctor I did want to be a nurse but the hurt and deceit about ssris.pls post if you want to share!!!I went private ha ha.What a joke it has been a journey and Im still recovering I have blank spots in my childrens lives I cant recall because efexxor robs you of yr memory it destroys the now and you become a walking talking zombie or timebomb.I hope this saves one person.Thkyou tigerlily.x

No one ever had a doctor "stuff effexor down their throat." However they did listen to their doctor when they finally got the courage to ask for help with their depression. That being said, most people don't expect a doctor to gloss over, or not even mention the devastating side effects. And even if you're lucky enough to realize the side effects, the pain and suffering that comes with getting off of this med cold turkey are awful. Sometimes awful enough to give up and get back on the drug.
Tigerlily is upset because your responses seem incredibly insensitive. No one ASKS for effexor, or any other drug. They just want to stop being depressed. The reason this forum exists, is because the drug companies have downplayed or hidden many of the side effects. If any of the people here had ANY idea of what would happen to them, they never would have taken their "trusted" doctor's advice in the first place.

Gee, where should I start?

First off, I was on Effexor for over five years, having withdrawn from it two years ago, which makes me fully aware of what Effexor, and drugs like it, do to people.

Second, my "insensitivity" to Tigerlily is due to her rant about how she knew she was being prescribed drugs instead of therapy and took the drugs willingly. Did she do any research first? She didn't mention that. Doesn't really matter: she owns part of the responsibility for ingesting them. If she felt so strongly about the meds, she should have refused them or at least done some research first.

Third, I recognize "the reason this forum exists". I'm sure you recognize that it's a public forum in which we are all expressing our opinions. The fact that Tigerlily doesn't like my opinions doesn't bother me one bit. Her personal attack on me as a result of my opinion says more about her than it does about me.

More about me living in a free country sending our troops off soldiers to die to support the USA we are the lucky country if yr off effexxor why are you wasting valuable time looking at other poor folks stories cant you get off yr bum and help the homeless or the sick???And yes they do practically force antidepressants down yr throat look at how many americans live on them do your homework first or shut yr big annoying mouth!!!

You know dispite what is going on in the world, and yes there are many many problems,I think you guys need to calm down. This world of ours is made up so many "differances" in us all, that's what makes life interesting. Don't use this forum to put each other down, we have all had some bad experiences with effexor and the idea is to help each other. Lets keep the language in check and get back to the task at hand. All of you helped my wife and I so much and kept an awsome marriage from breaking up. I would hate to see people in need turn away because of the bashing. Keep focused, I have a feeling there are a lot more stories yet to be told. Take care my friends..........

I've seen several petitions regarding various drugs and ECT abuses. I still have no peace.
Hearing others have had similar experiences and being able to tell my story has helps a bit.

Sometimes hurtful comments just need to be ignored. Especially when the purpose is obviously to upset you.
