I have been taking Diovan for several months and have a persistent tickle in my throat which sometimes results into severe coughing. Has anyone else experienced this side effect?

Jessie, I have had a chronic cough with Altace (blood pressure medication)... and my physician recently changed my meds to diovan indicating there should be less chances for coughing with diovan.

I have been on Diovan for several weeks and have developed a severe cough, especially in the evening. So much that I am going back on Losartan which does not produce this problem. On the other hand Diovan does a better job of controlling my blood preasure.

One of the side effects of Diovan is a cough and some people cannot tolerate this . This is the reason some change their Med

I developed severe coughing spasms at least ten times daily with several blood pressure medicines I was switched to. A friend told me to take local honey for the coughing. It had to be local honey(made from bees in your area). You use wildflower honey in the fall and winter and clover honey in the spring and summer. No quantity was given so I started with 2tablespoons in the morning and 2 tablesoons before bedtime. I was sceptical but it sure worked. I'm now taking 1 tablespoon in the a.m. and 1 tablespoon at night and am cough free.

I take Diovan 80mg, which does not control my blood pressure. I am about to take 120 mg. and hope that will do it. What is the usual dosage for good control. I cannot take a diruetic.

I am just recovering from an upper respiratory infection that may or may not have been caused by the Diovan. Has this happened to anyone else?

I was on Altace for about 3 months for hypertension and developed severe abodminal pain and had a constant cough. I stopped taking it and both of these side affects went away. Did not change my BP at all.
Changed to Diovan, have been on it for about 5 months. Do not have abdominal pains but over the last two months had a cold/upper respitory infection lasting total about 5 weeks, prescribed antibiotics. Relived it mostly, but still have a non-dry cough that comes and goes. Also seem to have congestion problems (have never been allergic to anything in my life) and lately ear issues/congestion.
May not be related by I suspect Diovan may be causing these issues.

I have developed a consistant and terrible cough, so intense that I will actually vomit. I wake four or five times a night with coughing fits. I was on Lisinopril and Dr. switched me to Diovan. No change in the cough. I can not keep going like this. Anyone experience the same and seen improvement with different med. please let me know. Thanks so much.

I took Lisinopril for 6 mos and developed a cough...Dr, changed me to Diovan and I still suffered a cough just like all of these. I just started a Channel Blocker Plendil, but it doesn't seem to control the BP as well Anyone taking anything that works? I guess if you did, you would'nt be on this site.

I was also taking lisinopril and developed a terrible cough. The doctor switched me to Diovan... I was doing well except today I started with the cough again. I certainly hope it doesn't start all over.

My mother in law taking diovan for blood pressure control and developed a severe cough .I'm recommend her to off Diovan for 1 wk. the cough doing well and I think that it gonna be just fine in about 2 wk because the ACE Inhibitor like Diovan or others such as lisionpril enalapril captopril etcs... can tickle the cough by produce a cough stimulator called " Substance P " ( data about 12 years ago when I study in Pharmacy school ).If anyone have any others data about this please post "
