I too lost 20 lbs after being on Diovan for three months. Must say I have never felt better in my whole life. I have no gut and feel like a 20 year old. This stuff is like the fountain of youth!

I just started Diovan today. I'm hopeful after having read the post here on this site. I had been on Inderal LA for over 18 months and gained 63 pounds. I brought the weight gain to my doctor's attention on several occasions, but he never did anything about it. Finally, after having moved, changed doctors, having the Inderal increased to 160 mg/day and the final 20 pounds.... My new doctor decided to change my medication. Inderal simply was not cutting it, causing me to gain weight continually, and took every ounce of energy I had. Going to the bathroom was exhausting to me. I'm SO happy they've finally changed my medications and SO hope that the Diovan HCT will have the weight loss effect on me as well. As I stated, I took my first pill today after arriving at the doctor with a blood pressure of 157/105 and heart rate of 115 today! Goodbye Inderal!!!!!

Kathy wrote: I have been on Diovan for about 5 months and lost about 20 lbs, but have started exercise and watching what I eat. When I took Diovan with HZT, it seemed to make me gain weight. So I do not know if any of this is connected or not. Just wanted to share. I lost 30 lbs. over a period of 6 months. I look and feel like a 25 year old. No other side effetcs. I feel very fortunate after reading some of the other posts!

I am with you both! I have been on Lisinopril for over a month and the cough was horrific! I would cough all day and it was worse at night to the point of choking and NO SLEEP!! I was just changed to 80 MG of Diovan. Can't wait to have the coughing stop!! I also could always use a little weight loss!

I have been on Diovan (pink pill) for about 6 mos. or so and I have lost a little over 20 lbs. I think it is because of the diuretic because when I don't take the pills I notice 2-3 lbs. in weight gain. I exercise also, so I am sure this plays into the factor as well. I have noticed a lost in appetite, but I am not sure whether it's because of Diovan, or stress-related.

I am taking Diovan too, have not noticed any weight lose, but swelling in my ankles. I'm trying to loose weight but not succeeding, what am I doing wrong? I eat properly, and am on the go all day.

I started taking Diovan(40MG) for a year now to regulate my blood pressure and have lost over 15 lbs. Because of the Blood Pressure scare,I also gave up many sugary energy drinks & only drink water or decaf tea. I also exercise 3xs a week. Some people say I look great and others ask if I am sick. I hope I don't loose any more weight because I like how I look right now.

I was on diovan for about 2 years. Recently went into the Dr's and bp was up (just ignore the white coat hypertension doc). Dr wanted to up my diovan. I too had gained weight - I weighed more than I ever have in my life. Dr kept telling me that I am not young anymore and cannot eat like a young person. I am convinced that the diovan was part of the problem. I weaned myself off the pills and had more energy. I dropped 15lbs. I am looking to lose another 20. I think instead of treating symptoms with pills, I am going to take a more holistic approach. Dr doesn't seem to care - how can they when they only spend 5 minutes with you for diagnosis? This is a crazy medical system we have in this country.

I have been on Diovan for the past five years and have gained approximately 35 lbs while on it. It does not control my blood pressure that well either. I'm wondering if there is anything natural that I can try that would work to lower my BP and possibly my cholesterol? I have looked at Gotu cola but haven't tried it yet. Any suggestions?

AND WEIGHT LOSS WILL I CAN US A LITTLE SO THAT DONT BUG ME TO MUCH,UNLESS IT IS A LOT. I WATCH WHAT I EAT AND I ONLY EAT ONCE A DAY. I EAT LOTS OF VEGS AND FRUIT. GOOD LUCK TO EVERY ONE Any BP meds with "pril" at the end will make you cough like crazy. I took Enalapril (spelling?) And I coughed so much that I couldnt sleep and wouldnt go anywhere without water and hard candy, not that it did much good. I now take Diovan.

cara wrote: <quoted text> Ruth I am with you! I took Lisinopril for only 4 months and called my dr thinking I had allergies! Certainly, a medicine couldn't make me cough to the point of gagging? LOL! Well, I was changed to DiovanHCT 160, and the cough went away within 2 weeks. I have experienced some weight loss, but I assume that is from "water-weight" since DiovanHCT has a diuretic in it. I really try to watch my salt, but there is so much hidden salt. I do have brief episodes (maybe once a week, of dizziness or fatigue) but I'll take that over a 24/7 cough! What you experienced was an "Ace cough". Any of the class of antihypertensives called Ace Inhibitors are known to cause cough.
