Janet wrote: Has anyone experienced hair loss? I was looking up side effects because in the several weeks I've been taking Diovan, I have experienced nausea and lightheadedness to the point of having to lie down to avoid fainting, along with a general "sickly" feeling. I already suffer from hair loss due to Lupus. I have been alarmed by the recent notable increase in hair loss but I didn't think of Diovan as a possible cause of the increase until I read about it on other sites, including DrKoop.com . I have been on Diovan for a few years now and my hair has gone from being super thick to super thin. It is like a diet pill for your hair. I have an appointment with my DR next week and I am going to see if he can change my BP med to something else and see if that helps I have had my thyroid check My hormone levels and everything came back normal. I will update after the appointment

I'm glad I finally found this site. I've been on Diovan for over two years and have had significant hair loss. My eyelids itch constantly and that's made my life miserable. My doctor has said he doesn't think it's from Diovan. I've had my thyroid tested and it's normal. I'm going to copy your messages and take them to my doctor.

Oh my, I thought it was just me, I could not figure out why my hair was thinning since I've always had full thick and long hair! I feel good to know the hair grows back, I will see my doc for routine visit and will mob longer consume Diovan.

Can anyone share what HBP medication that they have taken that does not cause hair loss. I have tried Diovan, Vasotec and they both cause hair loss. I tried Benicar but it does not reduce my BP enough.

Yes, diovan has cause me to lose a lot of my hair. I have since stop taking it and my hair is no longer falling out. I'm glad I caught it in time or I would have been wearing a wig. I actually started seeing my scalp.

Pat wrote: WHY DO YOU LADIES NOT DISCUSS THIS WITH YOUR DOCTOR...WHAT AFFECT'S ONE MAY NOT AFFECT OTHER'S..I AM ON DIOVAN, IT SEEMS TO BE THE ONLY DRUG I CAN TOLERATE FOR HPERTENSION...ALWAYS ASK YOUR DR. ABOUT ANY SIDE EFFECT'S. You are a statistic waiting to occur. Doctors had me taking 25 pills a day and after three months of constant vomiting, I was told the drugs could not be the cause. After my stomach and small intestine quit working and I lost over 100 pounds, I was found unconscious because my stomach & small intestine had not worked in over three months. Doctor after doctor told me to see a psychiatrist because pills were not the cause. I titrated off the pills (all of them) and never had another problem!

Diovan/HCT My once thick course hair has been for quits some years since I started taking this medication, the other Meds for high blood pressiure caused an allergic reaction to ace inhibitors & I would have this really uncontrollable cough. I stopped taking the Diovan for a few days & my pressure was fine up until the middle of the week , then I had to start back on the Diovan to gettin pressure back in controll. I wish there was another option besides theses Meds. for my pressure. All my thick hair has now become very short & thin. I just recently had a texture change after so many years of being "au naturelle'.
