I read the entire side effects forum only to find a couple of people who had the rash. So I wanted to start a thread for those who have had the rash. My rash is severe on both lower legs and abdomen. Red itching and hot. The doctor gave me an antibiotic and a cream but nothing helps. Anybody else?

I had the rash. I went to the doctor and he prescribed prednasone which did finally clear it up. He had no explanation for the rash, but I suspect it was from the Diovan/HCT. 160/25mg

Hey that makes two of us in Houston that had this Heat Rash side effect last August. It took me weeks to get rid of it and I stopped taking the meds the third day. My Dr. finally threw his hands in the air and sent me to Dermatologist who eased my mind and aided in the final resolution. jptx wrote: i was put on diovan, along with hct and within days, i began to develop hives all over my body all the time. i read where you should not take diovan if you are allergic to sulfa drugs. i am allergic to sulfa drugs and it is in my chart. i don't know why my dr put me on this! i have an appointment with my dr now.

I've been taking Diovan for a few months. I started to get a rash that almost looked like a sun burn a few weeks ago. One rash was on my shoulder under my clothes and the other is on my arm just below the crease in my arm. Both started out being only a few inches long. Now both have a reddened area that is spreading and my joints are sore. Trying to get an appointment with the doctor.

My mother started diavan a year and a half ago. She broke out in this horrific rash-looks like chicken pox. She has had 2 biopsy's and they showed it was a drug interaction and she is allergic to diavan. She has been seeing a dermatologist for a year now and she is on prednisone. It helps a little but every time they try to ween her off it, the rashes come back. The itch is making her crazy and the doctors are clueless. She has been off the diavan for about a year. Can anyone out there help.

My husband has been on Diovan since 11/09.. he has had a serve rash on his back, chest, neck, now his face, the Dr. said if it was Diovan it would have been the 1st few weeks, I don't agree. He has been to the Dermatologist for several months, they gave him antibotics and a cream ,clindamycin . It really hasn't worked. It is very frustrating and I'm glad to read everybody's comments on this !! Thanks

I am not sure if this will help anyone but about a year ago my mother took Diovan and within a few days she was covered in a rash. Blisters, itching and very red. It took the doctors 7 months to at least clear it up. They put her on prendisone and that worked but she was on that for the whole 7 months. She has finally cleared up. They also said it could have been a combination of the Diovan and Vitamin D that she had been taking. Good Luck

Dennis-Have you been checked for drug interaction with the Diovan? I will ask my mother what else she did for the rash and itch. I will let you know tomorrow.

I started taking Diovan and three months later I was told I had a drug interaction with Crestor. I had two biopsys to confirm this was a drug interaction. I stopped taking Diovan, but the rash did not go away. I was on Predisone for a year and a half before it started to really leave my skin. The marks are going away finally. I used a CVS itch cream.(Or any itch cream that works for you)You can only be on steroid cream for two weeks, because it thins out the skin. I did use it for a longer length of time.(which is not good). You'll do anything to stop the itch. I also stopped the Crestor just to make sure. I went back on Crestor for awhile. My doctor now put me on Vytorin which is totally different. My heart goes out to all of you. I hope this was a help. The drug must stay in your body someplace to cause it to last so long after being off. I'm curious ask your dr. why does it stay so long. They didn't have an answer for me. Went to hosp. and three dermatologists.

Glad to hear others with same side effects as my Mom! Drug should be pulled off the market. My Mom has severe itching blistery rash... Doc told her it was poison ivy, went back to dermotologist finally took biopsy and results will be in next week. I guess I don't need a degree to tell the STUPID doc it was a drug reaction.

I told her don't take it. She gets her biopsy results next week. In the meantime...itchy and scratchy and driving her crazy. STUPID DOCTORS or Drug Companies!

Also, started Diovan HCT in October 2010, had rash on arm and then developed major rash in groin and on buttocks, nothing takes care of this that I have tried, at least topical. Severe itching, and I mean severe. My doctor doesn't seem concerned, but only Benedryl will slow down the itching, but wakes me up at night.

Don, I would talk to your doctor to see if there is something else, the doctor finally switched her and now her platets are very low and white blood count. Could be from medicine, she's seeing a hematologist this month.
