Okay--this may be a silly question, but need to ask it anyway.

I was getting into my car today--the car next to me had parked extremely close so it was a bit difficult to get into the driver's seat. Anyways, bumped the top of my head slightly while manuevering my way into my car. No red spot or bump, but I could feel it a little bit afterwards. Do I need to worry about such a little bump while taking warfarin or does it need to be a major hit (like a car accident, from playing football, really bad fall, etc.).

I've only been taking warfarin for 6 weeks so am not always sure when to be concerned.

Thanks,

I did the same thing. I was worried about it so I called the nurse at my MD's office and she said just keep an eye on it and if it started hurting or became red or bruised to come in to the office. I hit my head pretty hard and never saw a bruise. I have tried to be so careful since I started on blood thinner but I seem to be more clutsey and accident prone. I have hit my head on cabinet doors, can fell out of cabinet on my head, bent over and came back up and hit head on desk. I worry every day about this stuff and I stay bruised on arms and legs from bumping into things. I stay concerned. I hope you're OK Hopper.

Hopper, it doesnt sound like you hit it hard enough to be concerned but just like Lady Golfer - said - watch it and if you begin with any kind of symptoms let your doctor know ( dizzy, blurred vision, headache, etc)

Hello,

I too have hit my head very hard, on two occasions. The first time I reported it to my doctor who ordered a scan, and all was well.

The second time I was worried, but didn't call the doctor because he had toldme too much radiation isn't good - so what do you do - should you get scanned or wait?

the second time I felt awful for about a week....headaches, very tired, sluggish...dizzy...I seem better now but I do worry. Lady golfer, I also feel more clutsy since I started taking coumadin - I seem to bump my head a lot more than ever before even I try to be a lot more careful.....

Hope everyone's well.....

This week I bent over to pick something up out of the floor and came up and hit my head on dryer door. I have a stackable washer/dryer. It didn't make a knot or bruise but was tender to the
touch for about 3 days. I have had a mild headache around my forehead all week but not where I hit my head. I don't know if it is related to the hit on my head or if it is just a tension type headache, allergy type headache or medication type headache. I have had all. I have worried all week. Nurse told me it probably wasn't anything to worry about that I would have to hit my head pretty hard to have a problem and that since it wasn't sore at the spot anymore that it was probably OK. I am constantly hitting or bumping something. I am like a bull in a china shop.

Hi, Thank you for your head bump posts...I have been on Warfarin for 10 weeks and have bumped my head 4 times. The first 2 times I had a Cat scan. The remaining 2 times I didn't. I've been having a headache and dizziness for the past 4 days, since I bumped my head on the freezer door handle after getting something out of the back of the refrigerator. I can't tell if my dizziness is from my head bump or if it is from something else. I've called my doctor and am waiting for his instructions on what I should do.

Elizabeth - anytime you hit your head and have symptoms it is a good idea to have it checked. I hope your doctor checks you out. Do you have any visual disturbances?

I have been taking Coumadin for 6 months and also having clutsy moments. Several minutes ago I bumped my head taking things out of my car trunk. I have no soreness yet nor any unusual headache. Should I just wait and see if I have any symptoms being making a trip to the E.R.?

It's not the bump to the head you need to worry about, its taking a rate poision that should be your main concern! My sister never bumped her head but she still developed a brain bleeding hemmorage that took her life! For your own protection, look for a safer and less stressful way to thin your blood if it is needed. Then you can live your life without spending all your time worring about how this drug may negitively effect your body and your family! Go read in this forum "Coumadin Casues Death" to see what people are saying about how it has negitively effected their loved ones!

I've been on Coumadin for 2 months now - had open heart surgery. This morning when I was taking my shower the soap fell, bent down to pick it up and bumped my head on the bar on my shower door. Didn't hit it hard - but still concerned.

bumped my head hard on a steel weight bar in my sons room yesterdy. Felt fine yesterday and this morning. this afternoon I have a headache, a little blurred vision on the same side and numbness in my face as well as tingling in the scalp radiating from the area of the small bump. I cant see any redness or scrape. It's a little sore but not bad. My eye on that side is watering as well.

Last night I hit the back of my head really hard, and applied ice immediately. No bump, no nausea, no dizziness, no blurred vision. I am just a little tired today since I didn't sleep well worrying about this.

My doctor is on vacation for two weeks and doesn't return until the 18th. Is this something I should check out?

Thank you!

Broke my foot and taking coumadin for a blood clot that developed from my break. I am still on crutches and fell today. The fall took me down to the floor and I tried to fall on my side to protect my foot. Anyways I did hit my head on the floor but felt more embarrassed than hurt. I do not want to go see my dr. Should I just wait to see if I have any dizziness or headaches before I make a call to my dr?

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Capricorn

You feel like overindulging yourself in some way today, and why not? Throw caution to the wind and eat your way through a big bar of chocolate, or have a retail therapy session that leaves you reeling from the amount of money you've spent. There's a definite chance you could get carried away and tell a whopper of a story that has little resemblance to what really happened. What on earth has got into you?
