A pt. of mine has experienced extreme tiredness since starting Coumadin. He seems to have no other significant side effects. I don't see this listed as a common side effect. Has anyone else come across this?

Yes, feeling fatigued is a side effect. At first, I felt tired. I was taking my dose in the PM. Then, I switched it to 7 AMish. It made a difference. By bedtime 10pmish, I'm ready to go to sleep.

I have been taking 7-10 mg since 1/05. I am chronically tired. with severe swelling in my right leg where I had a clot. If I have been physically active for more than a couple of hours. I get dizzy with severe headaches. If the tempature does not get above 75 , I freeze my butt off.

I have only been on Coumadin for a week and I have noticed a substantial loss of energy. I feel tired and sluggish. I did bring this up to the doctor yesterday when I saw him and I found out that it was "normal to have these tired, sluggish, and foggy feelings.

I alternate between 6 & 7 grams per day and am exhausted. I'm also cold a lot of the time.
My doctor said their were "no side effects" from taking Coumadin, but another friend of mine who is a doctor says tiredness is definitely a side effect.

One week ago I was placed on Coumadin, 2.5mg. Since the very first day I have been fatigued and lacking energy from 7am to 10pm. I have even been falling asleep at 7pm while watching TV. I have been jogging for over 40 years and have never been so tired.Based on protime tests Doctor wished to increase Coumadin strength. I refused and said I was returning to aspirin therapy. Two days later my old self has returned. If you are getting tired from coumadin, get off it and get a normal life again.

I AM CURRENTLY ON 30MG TWICE DAILY -COUMADIN. I HAVE EXPERIENCED MANY OF SIDE AFFECTS SINCE DIAGNOISED IN 9/2002 AND DO AGREE THAT IT CAUSES FATIGUE AMONGST A HOST OF OTHER SIDE EFFECTS. MY LEAST FAVORITE GASTRO PROBLEMS. IT SEEMS THAT COUMADIN IS EATING AWAY AT MY STOMACHE. ANYONE ELSE WITH GASTRO PROBLEMS DUE TO COUMADIN?

I also experience a daily bout of intense upper stomach pain. Comes on suddenly and can last for hours. Rolaids do help but it still is painful. Also, I am very tired and have no desire to perform work task or any other general task. I am allowed by the doctor to ride my bicycle (which I have done for 30 years). I seem to ride OK with out fatigue. It is general fatigue I feel thorughout the day. Not during exercise. Trying to cope with it! Joe S

I too am consistently tired and the last few months frequent dizziness. I have been on coumadin for 3 years due to a severe DVT in my right leg. I really want to get off this med. but have been advised that due to the valve damage and scar tissue that it is unlikely that I will ever be able to go without coagulation therapy. Does anyone have any success stories regarding this type diagnosis? Any advice or suggestions?

I just wanted to say to you good luck and i hope everything works out for you. I believe there is a chance for us to get off of this med (hopefully) just have faith and please please try not to let this medicine take over your daily routines in life. if you are having problems with your diet check out the Coumadin Cookbook. It really serves it's purpose for us and good food too. what's your dosage? Joe S wrote: <quoted text> I have been on Coumadin for 3 weeks. I don't think there is really any suggestions for veterans of Coumadin like ourselves. I have been on this since Sept 2002. Check out the Coumadin Cookbook for dieting (if you will)and please continue to take good care of yourself. I do believe there is hope for us..........God Bless wcw wrote: I too am consistently tired and the last few months frequent dizziness. I have been on coumadin for the past 4 or 5 yrs and do find a lack of energy..I have A-fib is why I take it...5mg daily...the biggest problem I have (beside being 66 years old) is muscle & joint pain due to arthritis & being worn out, since I cannot take any anti- inflammatory drugs....I was taking Vioxx and it was wonderful, my body felt like I was young again but we all know what happened there....I tried taking Naprosyn but ended up in hospital with gastric bleed due to Coumadin....so now nothing for pain but Tylenol and I would just about as soon have a good drink of water for all the good it does....Any suggestions..???

MY DR SEEMS TO HAVE A ONETRACK MIND ABOUT COUMADIN. SAYS IT DOESN'T HAVE SIDE EFFECTS.LIKE HELL IT DOESNT, ALL I WANT TO DO IS SLEEP. I CAN SIT DOWN WITH A CAN OF COKE OR BEER IN MY HAND AND SLEEP 6 HRS SOMETIME AND NOT SPILL A DROP. IT'S LIKE I GO INTO A COMA. I TAKE 8 mg A WEEK AND HAVE BEEN ON IT 5 YRS

I just started on Coumadin a week ago due to a PE (pulmonary Embolism) and have found that I just can't seem to get enough sleep! At first I blamed it on not getting quality sleep in the hospital, but I have been home for 5 days now and Im still beat! Do the smallest activities and Im spent!! So any Dr. that says there are no side effects has apparently not been on it themselves!!

I am at least relieved to read that I am not alone. Started on Coumadin January 2006 and have suffered the WORST fatigue immaginable - NO LIFE. One of my doctors has recently even tried me on Ritalin and that has helped tremendously! I also have fibromyalgia. Was about to have hip replacement surgery in January when I developed an enormous DVT in same leg as hip surgery was to be done. Had to put off hip surgery for 4 1/2 months, get lots of treatment for clot, have filter put in before hip surgery, etc. I am currently on 7.5 mg and 5 mg, every other day of Warfarin. I am going to insist on Coumadin (Brand only)(next refill) as I have a MUCH harder time getting stable INR results on generic Warfarin. Just some extra info. But, yes, to stay on topic, the FATIGUE is incredible!!!
