Oh, I am so happy that I can help some of you with this information!!! So far, the new MYLAN 0.1 mg. patch feels exactly like the brand name one. It is so tiny and thin. It does not burn or irritate my skin and I don't even feel that it is on!
For reetriver in Ashtabula, OH - The other patch that you were using is manufactured by AVEVA, made for PAR. That is the first generic patch that I had. Yes, it is oval and HUGE!! The three generic clonidine patches are manufactured by: AVEVA (for PAR); Teva; and MYLAN. They all have websites - I GOOGLED the three as "generic clonidine patches" to get the sites. Sorry, I don't have them, but I do have contact information. TEVA - DrugInfo@tevausa.com MYLAN - Lisa.Walker@mylan.com Hope that this helps! Will write again next Thursday, when one week is up and I change my Mylan Generic 0.1 mg. patch! |

Hi Marla, thanks so much for keeping us posted! Can't wait to hear your results!

So far, the MYLAN generic patch is GREAT!!! It is really sticking well, on my upper arm. I am very careful about not rubbing it - or washing that patch area, when I shower.
The PAR generic patch is manufactured by AVEVA Pharmaceuticals, for PAR. I saved the box and that is what it says on the front. Since these generic patches (MYLAN, Aveva, and Teva manufacturers) ARE GENERIC, the cost should be MUCH,MUCH lower than than the brand-name patches. Your insurance should give you a HUGE price break on any generic meds, including the generic patches. The generic MYLAN patches come in all strengths - 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 mg. Ask your pharmacist about them. They probably have to order them for you. BE SURE to request the MYLAN manufacturer! Will let you know on Thursday, how this new MYLAN patch worked for me! For example, I was paying an $85 co-pay, for a one month supply of the brand name patch. Now, since they are generic, I only pay a $7 co-pay for one month's supply! The BEST part is that these MYLAN patches are as good as the expensive brand name! |

It has been exactly ONE WEEK for my first MYLAN 0.1 mg. clonidine patch. It is FANTASTIC!!! It did not even start to come off, during the one week's time. It actually stayed on better than the brand name patch - maybe because it is quite a bit thinner??? I give it 11 stars, on a rating of 1-10, 10 being the best!
Today, I applied a new patch and I was very careful, as I now know how thin it is. I first peeled off one side of the thin plastic that is attached to the patch, then put it onto my upper arm, not touching the patch at all. Once it adhered to my skin, I then applied the second half (plastic still on) and pulled off the plastic as it adhered to my skin. Then I pressed on the patch several times, to make sure it adhered well. GREAT product! Ask your pharmacist to order the MYLAN manufacturer generic patch. Don't even bother with the other two brands (Aveva/Par, and Teva)- they are both huge. This one by MYLAN will not disappoint you! Hope that this helps all of you... |

Thanks Marla. I will be asking my pharmacy to order the Mylan patch.

I use the clonidine patch to help with stomach/intestinal cramping (not for blood pressure control). Does anyone else use the patch for this reason?(I have worn the patch for this reason, for over 15 years.)
I am asking this because my stomach has been more upset lately, than normal. Also, I am cranky, which I am normally not!! I am wondering if the generic patch could be the cause. |
|
|
Marla, I use the patch for hot-flashes (menopause), and I have never had any side effects. From time to time, I do notice being a little tired the first day I put a new patch on, but nothing that would even keep me from driving or "operating heavy equipment" ;)
When I try the generic, I will post any side effects, if any. Diana |

Thanks, Diana!
Guess these patches have many uses! Have you ever tried to go off of the patch? I have used it for over 15 years. I have tried going off of it a few times and I got violently sick to my stomach for days. Yes, please let me know if you notice a difference with the MYLAN patch! Thank you, Marla |

My first Clonidine patch made by Par was the larger one and it worked beautifully on my symptoms. I did had trouble with it sticking so I put my surgical tape over it and even went swimming in the ocean and it stayed on. So each time I changed the patch I covered it with the tape. The covers included with the patches were a joke. The manufacturer of the ones I use now is Mylan. They were smaller and they do not work as well as the Par. I am back to horrible heat sweats which then gives me cramps in my feet, legs and hips. I am also back to feeling sick to my stomach and woozy every time I get a heat sweat. I asked my pharmacist if they could order the patch from Par and I was told that they discontinued the patch and that the Catapres was also being discontinued. I would like to know why. I am on cancer drugs and have these terrible side affects and the Par brand patch gave me my life back.

As recommended above,by Karen, I recently ordered the BRAND Catapres TTS-1 patches and BRAND Plavix, 75 mg., from Planetdrugsdirect.com . I got 12 patches (3 boxes) for $119 - and 84 BRAND Plavix for $140. My shipment arrived earlier than expected and both items were the correct, BRAND items. No shipping was charged, either. I am very happy with this new source and saved alot of money, compared th the other online pharmacy that I had been using. I highly recommend Planetdrugsdirect.com .
Thanks, Karen, for your recommendation!!!!! |

Hi marla i dont use the patches for intestinal problems, but to answer your question, yes it could be the generic patch, uses a little bit of a different delivery chemical, in the patch. I know the first patch i used by aveva kept coming off and the secound did not give as good of blood pressure results and was to thin .The bad part about this drug it has a bad rebound effect if one of the patches does fall off especially in the older patient who may not recognize it until something happens. It is a drug that has to be taken away slowly.Talk with your doctor and explain to him that you think this new patch, my not be as strong, as your other patch and that new patch could be causing the problem try a different patch.this my rule out if your condition is getting worse or infact it is the patch.I dont know how much you are taking, but i do know, you can take up to 0.3mg per patch, and up to two patches a week. Maybe they can up the dose a little also, but they have to be careful in doing so,beause of to much of a blood pressure drop.good luck with it kido and hope they get you to feeling better. The doses can be gotten in o.1mg 0.2mg 0.3mg this is per patch |

Hi Terry, Thank you for your advice and information! After trying both of the generic patches for several weeks, I went back to the brand name patch, 0.1 mg. It is working great and I feel so much better, than I did using either of the generics. I had a very severe heart attack a few years ago and my blood pressure was extremely low. The Cardiologist insisted on removing my patch. I was violently sick (vomiting for several days & nights). Finally, the Dr. put on a new patch and I stopped vomiting almost immediately!! My blood pressure has always run on the low side, even with Type I Diabetes and my severe heart attack. That patch is a lifesaver for my stomach and I will always wear it. Oh, I change it once a week. Thanks for writing to me! Good luck to you!
