Toys made in China is safe for Christmas 2007? Huh!

I work for perhaps the biggest discount retailer in the U.S.A.. The Christmas toys that our store received came in August. We are waiting to push them to the floor for Christmas sales.

It would probably be a safe bet to say that these toys were manufactured last year in 2006.

So is the Christmas 2007 toys from China really safe for the children of the U.S.?

BTW, we all grew up with lead painted stuff and seemed to survive, what's the big deal now?
From what I've seen and read, the lead also causes brain damage.

I wonder if Lipton uses any tea or tea leaves from China. How can you find out? The label only says the country it's distributed in. Doesn't have to say that any of it's ingredients are from China.

Right! I'll believe it when I see it. Every thing coming out of China is tainted. It will take them years to get every thing under control. In the mean time "MADE IN CHINA" means "BUYER BEWARE"

I just remodeled my kitchen, not knowing Maytag was sold to Whirlpool, I know where have I been(?) to add insult to injury i'm hooking the diswasher up and I notice labels all under the unit.
"Made in China".

It's getting nuts here:

Oranges from Chile
Cars from Japan or Germany
Credit Card outsources to India
Clothes from Korea
Shrimp from Thailand
Wine from Australia
Stax potato chips from Mexico

Places with little or no safety inspections.

I was changing my Grandsons diaper, when i checked his bottom it was stamped "made in Italy"-LOL.

IN 6000 years chinese have not learned to use a knife and fork, and we buy hi-tech crap from them. shame on us.

I am embarassed and apalled that my country, the United States of America, which once was the industrial leader of the World now is so heavily dependent on other nations to supply most all of its manufactured goods. Mattel should be making their own toys, right here, stamped, "Made in the USA" and employing American workers.

My second observation is that if Mattel had done their job correctly, they would have inspected prototype examples carefully and approved them before placing orders for so many that they later had to pull on a recall. Whoever approved and went ahead and placed orders for everythng without checking them out maybe should be looking for new employment? That's just dumb. If you saw the product, and inspected it properly and then went ahead and placed a volume order, the fault isn't the Chinese, it was the American executive who didn't do his due diligence in the face of known child safety standards.

Duh...we're sorry that you're being blamed for poisoning American children with your lead paint. Please accept our humblest apologies so that you will continue to make our cheap toys and we can still collect billions of dollars a year.

WASHINGTON - The government warned consumers on Friday to avoid using toothpaste made in China because it may contain a poisonous chemical used in antifreeze.

Out of caution, the Food and Drug Administration said, people should throw away toothpaste with labeling that says it was made in China. The FDA is concerned that these products may contain diethylene glycol.

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Taurus

Everything seems to be getting under your skin at the moment, but this is no excuse to lose your temper, and you know it. Better by far to be discreet and plough on steadily, without looking to the left or right. If you keep your feet on the ground and don't get discouraged, there are definitely fair winds that will blow you along. It's just a question of finding the right balance between confidence and commonsense.
