Greetings American cousins,
As I am from Belfast, Ireland, I have no chance of being a part of this suit. Cipro has caused rupture in several of my spinal erector ligaments. However, I do know of a herbal remedy I have used in the past, which is proven in peer reviewed research to help with tendon or bone related issues. The herb itself is called Cissus Quadrangularis (sp?) and is sold in various forms by various vendors. Get one with a good level of ketosterone and it may well help with your healing rate.
I saw a friend recover from rotator cuff surgery in 1/4 the time on this stuff.
Also because cipro problems closely resemble calcification, magnesium might help.
Best of luck people, hope this helps

just quickly my sis had renal failure, extreme fatigue and now numbness in the hand after cipro. she recovered from all except numbness but she defintely felt run over by a truck. 2-3 years ago brother had a tendon problem repaired in foot and spent 3 months not using it. Just today sis and I discovered this was from cipro. I however took it once and was fine. But believe me never again. The Bin Ladens and the Bushes and probably many more people we all know are tied up in this carlyle group which is a holding company for cipro. Many gulf war soldiers took this crap. Holy cow when I stumbled on this. Dah do you think there was influence peddling. It was rushed to market without a hearing

I have been taking CIPRO for UTI's. I developed Trigger Finger on my right middle finger last year, resulting in surgery. This year it returned on my right ring finger also resulting in surgery. It has now erupted in my left hand index finger and is spreading to the middle finger of that hand.
Could CIPRO be causing that?

My 85 year mother was prescibed cipro for a bladder infection. After one dose she became violently ill and has been in the hosptial for over a week experiencign a host of symptons including dizziness, nausea, double vision, weaknes, lack of appetite, and terrible pain in her ears. She has gone from being an active 85 year to someone who now is completely helpless. Has no strength, cannot sit up, feed herself, etc. Her doctor is no help - does anyone have any suggestions on what we can give her to combat this terrible drug?

I took one course of Cipro for a UTI exactly one year ago. I had been completely healthy and active and had hiked 5 miles one week prior to taking the medication. As there were no warnings about exercise, I did a hike while still on the third day of taking Cipro. At hike's end, I could hardly walk because my knees had become swollen and stiff. By the next day i could
barely move and the swelling increased with my knees looking huge and deformed. I had never had any joint/muscle problem prior to this.
I returned home and consulted an orthopedic surgeon who took x-rays and said my kneecaps were now misaligned and had huge swellings.
I began working with a medical massage therapist and chiropractor and took anti-inflammatory meds but a year later, the swelling is mostly gone but I have difficulty going up/down stairs and cannot get up from the floor without help. Everyone points to the Cipro and I am probably permanently disabled. I also experience pain in other joints.
Any ideas or similar experiences???

I am also a victim of the side effects from Cipro.
I had a UTI which I was treated for at the hospital I left with two medications one being Ceptra. I followed the docs orders but one evening went out for dinner with my son and forgot my pills, i called the restaurant that night and next morning I could not recover them. I went into a local walk in clinic and told them of my situation and need to finish the corse of meds. He prescribed Cipro instead of Ceptra (i was unaware of what he gave me) trusting him I took the few days I had left to take the meds and my life is ruined, cipro tore my shoulder, my hip,(diganosed by MRI) I have trouble walking because of my knees(probably cipro ripped those muscles too) and now I have kidney failure?? The torn hip is an injury they see in professional football players or extreme sports? At the time of both injuries I was walking simply walking, and I heard a pop in my hip? I am devestated and I recently re tore my hip and now I cannot take any pain medication because of my kidney problem. What do I do? HELP

After taking cipro in April 2009 for an UTI, I started having tendenites on my left foot. When I went back to the doctor in june for UTI again and mention the heel pain, the doctor prescribed me cipro again. Since then the tendenites spread to both feet and I started having symptoms of fibromyalgia including a panic attack that took me to the emergency room. I have mentioned cipro and my symptoms to every doctor and they all pretty much have ignored me. The podiatrist says that the problem is in my high arch shaped feet. The general practitioner says I haven't taken cipro long enough for it to have caused these symptoms. I started treatment for the tendenites with physical therapy. All they told me was to strech and ice it, even when I had extreme pain. I ended up with lots of torn tendons trhoughout my foot and now I can hardly walk, on top of all the other pains from fibromyalgia. I really lost respect for doctors. They do not listen to the patients, and they think that we are a bunch of idiots. Since I am vitamin D deficient, and I hopeful that once I get it the level to a normal range my symptoms will easy. That is the only hope I have at the moment.

I have an unused portion of CIPRO that seems to have YOUR NAME on it!! This issue is BIGGER than your silly little mind (if you have one at all) could EVER imagine!! The FLUOROQUINOLONE antibiotics, which DESTROY healthy cells, tissue, cartilage, tendons, joints, muscle, tissue, and DNA (just like CHEMO)... have been damaging and destroying lives for YEARS now, and MANY of this class have been REMOVED from the market for CAUSING everything from fatal hypo- and hyper-glycemia (DEATH) to KIDNEY and LIVER FAILURE (DEATH) Since WHEN is is RIGHT to be given a prescription medication by our doctors, FOR SIMPLE INFECTIONS and end up PERMANENTLY DISABLED because of the medical community's IGNORANCE and the FDA and drug co's GREED for PROFIT PROFIT PROFIT!!?? YOU are the one who is OUT OF HIS FQing MIND not understanding the scope of this attrocity!! I KNOW because I have been living this NIGHTMARE since being given 20 pills of Levaquin and Avelox for what the doctors said was a SINUS infection.... and now this FQing POISON has been progressively causing damage throughout my entire body... when I have been PREVIOUSLY the image of PERFECT HEALTH and HAPPINESS!! Never smoked, worked out faithfully, enjoyed any activity without a single problem in the world. This LEGAL drug destroyed this LIFE, my ONE life.... and the lives of my family and two small children. Speaking of CHILDREN, this POISON DEATH PILL, which causes *ARTHROPATHY IN RATS*!! has recently been APPROVED for use in CHILDREN!! WHAT are these moron doctors and FDA THINKING??
$$$$$$$?? Population control?? All lies and deceit!! You wouldn't be AFRAID to state your claim to a few of the soldiers suffering what is called Gulf War Syndrome, would you?? Nearly the same symptoms as the rest of us suffering the effects of these chemical toxic drugs.... the same drugs developed to treat ANTHRAX, get it??
I would personally love to introduce you to a full course of CIPRO, LEVAQUIN or AVELOX to set your simple little mind straight.... you'd be coming back posting a different tune. You worthless piece of CRAP!! Next time you come down w/ a bug, PLEASSSSSE ask your doctor for AVELOX (Moxifloxacin)!! YOU DESERVE IT!!

I stopped smoking several weeks ago and felt pretty good overall. Got a UTI this past weekend and was given Cipro. The whole time I have been on it I have had massive joint aches, everytime I move it hurts alittle. I feel lots of anxiety and just overall AWFUL. I am only getting 2-3 hours of sleep, IF THAT. It is an awful feeling that I wish would go away. I chalked it up to not smoking, but now I'm wandering if it is the Cipro??

I too seem to be experincing Cipro side effects. 4 years ago I was first prescribed Cipro for a bladder infection, my first of what turned out to be many. I've gotten them recurrently sometimes as much as twice a month ever since that first one. I noticed after a short time that I would get pain in my legs after taking the Cipro. The doctor said that I was having mental problems after I wouldn't stop my repeated complaints, because he assured me there was no way Cipro could be causing me this severe pain that got worse each time I took it. He put me on antidepressants and anti anxiety pills which didn't help. Eventually the pain moved on to my wrists, forearms, all up and down my legs (the pain is worst there) and... well, pretty much everywhere. I still haven't been officially diagnosed, as doctors keep telling me nothing is wrong with me, and still prescribe Cipro for my infections. I came across info on Fibro and it seemed to fit. I google searched Cipro with Fibro because I KNEW there must be a connection... and here I am. I'm miserable with no doctor in sight willing to believe I'm actually in such severe pain all the time that I can't even sleep at night. But at least now I know this. I'll never take Cipro again no matter what the doctor tells me.

I too had an adverse reaction to Cipro, when a doctor prescribed it 2 days after a corticosteroid shot. He said my white blood count was high and I needed Cipro to combat the infection I must have. Since my research of my illness I have noted that there are black box warning against giving Cipro with Corticosteroids. I have been ill for 16 months so far with dizziness, body pain, stomach pain, severe anxiety, shaking, flushes, chest pain, palpitations and a multi-nodular thyroid, to name but a few symptoms. I don't drive now unless I have an adult driver with me in case I feel ill and they can take over.

Before Cipro I was healthy with no anxiety or depression. The combination of these 2 drugs has been life altering. I can no longer work or take my daughter out to her activities, malls, cinemas, kids gyms etc. My husband has suffered by having to take on different work schedules so he can be home more often, and my daughter has suffered by being scared of seeing the side effects of these drugs. These adverse reactions are not a good thing for a young child to witness her mum going through.

I have received no support from doctors I have seen. Most just try to tell me its in my head and I'm suffering from depression. I have never been depressed in my life and depression doesn't run in my family. Admittedly the frustration of these doctors saying it's all in my head, does make me cry. I have now been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Why are these drugs being given out for mild infections? Why aren't doctors educated about their side effects? Why was I given Cipro with Corticosteroids?

I want my life back. I want an antidote for this poisoning. I want doctors to stop disregarding the side effects, and to stop treating me as it its all in my head. Are there any doctors out there that recognise the effects of Cipro?

They want to do a CMG test on me and the doctor gave me two Cipro to take prior to test. I am scared that this might harm me in other ways? How many doses did you take before the horrid reaction?

I took it for 15 days at 1000mg a day, so it was a pretty high dosage. After researching this drug I have heard that you can be affected by it from the first dose. A friend of mine took one dose and collapsed. I have just come from the hospital - another check-up with yet another doctor who denies Cipro does this to you. He thinks I need to see a shrink for anxiety. Funny that I've never had anxiety issues in my life until they injected me with corticosteroid and put me on Cipro. Black box warnings say the 2 drugs shouldn't be combined but the doctors deny that too. Am feeling really fed up. Will any doctor ever admit to this adverse reaction.

After 4 days on cipro, my ears started ringing furiously. I stopped the treatment then. Then a couple of days later my eyes started being messed up, with inability to focus and floaters. Then the next days muscles all over my body started having burning sensations and my joints started aching.
I contacted both and homeopath and an herbalist.
They gave me a treatment to get the side effects to go away. Ten days after stopping the cipro, they are not completely gone but I am better. The herbalist also put me on a strict diet for a week: fish, rice, vegetables and tofu. That's it, no salt, no sugar, nothing else. He also gave me one of his herbal formulas.
I will keep everyone posted to let you know whether that fixes the problem completely.

<quoted text> I found 1 law firm which you can easily google who took down my info & said they might call.(I'm in California.) I took Cipro in December of '07 and I have been suffering from tendon ruptures in my left hamstring ever since. I have had severe pain standing, walking, etc. much of the time & after going to physical therapy to address this problem a couple of weeks ago, I somehow injured my left knee. Now, I can hardly walk at times and have chronic pain. Prior to the Cipro, I worked out 5 times a week-- in aerobics classes, with weights or playing squash. Please keep in touch.
Did you ever find a class action suit in CA? I took Cipro in May and soon after experienced bilateral achilles tendonosis (deterioration, not rupture). Surgery is recommended with a 9 month recovery! I am also in southern CA.
