Only now my mouth is always dry, so the cottonmouth is even worse.;) A couple times I have had one beer, made me really drunk. I feel like the celexa is starting to work, despite the pot smoking. not sure if it's really bad for me or not, hard ot find good reliable info on this Hey dazza I know all bout the cotton mouth ive been on 20mg for a few months now and i still smoke pot everyday multiple times but one thing i started noticing other than dry mouth is my tolerance to pot has increased immensly. I dont know what it means, anyhow thinking of cutting down alot anyways. cheers and a good day to all

Im now on my 2nd month on 20mg its helped my anxiety, but im still feeling down still Dont want to tell my doctor as dont want him To think im just after more drugs! I take beta blockersMaybe its just them working? Who knows The best way I have found to get off most anti-depress is to reduce the amt you are taking and add in some prozac. Increase the prozac as you decrease the other anti-dep. It only takes about 2 wks and then you taper off prozac in a week or so. Seems to work and I think a Doc wrote about it as the preferred method. Of course, a little alcohol and weed may be helpful to some.

I highly doubt combining marijuana and weed will kill you, but it definitely can mess you up. The one and only panic attack I've ever had was when I smoked weed on Citalopram. It was the worst feeling of my life. I ran around my parents living room screaming for somebody to call an ambulance because it felt like I was dying, like my brain was about to shut off. Honestly like having a heart attack. I suggest not to try it. It's just not worth it.

I have never experenced any problems. In fact I felt more at-ease. I believe it's up to each person and how well they handle the high.(or low)

Hi. I was on Remeron (which sucked) because it makes you crave food constantly (gained 6 kilos in 4 weeks). I was desperate to go on trozopane because I heard it helps with sleep and depression (my main problem). Anyway, just been put on 10mg of Celexa and told to take it in the morning. I am hoping because it is a different type of med than the one I was on that it helps with insomnia. By the way, my first dose was 10.30 this morning, 2 hours ago. I dont know how I feel yet?:[ I think my pupils look dialated?? Anyway, re: the mixing alchohol, I'm looking forward to getting of the drink since I had a problem with that while depressed. Heres to being able to just have one drink instead of 6!

I just realised that I didn't even talk about the thread topic! Yes, I too smoke weed occasionally. I think I might still do this instead of drink. I don't know yet but I will see how if effects me. Cheers, stay happy!

For the first few weeks I was on Celexa, I had stopped smoking pot because I felt no need to. I was very content with how it made me feel and had no reason to go back to it in hopes to "cure" my depression.(keep in mind that I smoked everyday before then) The first time I tried it again, I felt the euphoric joy and happiness that I had lost the feeling for in pot. I don't know if it was because of mixing or lack of tolerance, but all in all, Celexa has greatly increased my joy of smoking, because I feel like I don't HAVE to anymore to the point where I need it everyday of my life. Remember, mixing is a choice that should be responsibly done. It's not for everyone, but it works damn well for me, and I'm the happiest I've been in years.

Been for more than a year on 10mg cipralex (lexapro) and just smoked a little bit of pot...feeling very good ever after 2 hours. Didnt have to smoke much. Feeling the buzz well. Alcool though, my doctor tells me no more than a couple glasses and indeed he is right...it gave me big headaches + the dizziness and blackouts you guys talk about.
It's better not to take a pill if you plan on taking drugs or alcool in a big amount.

Celexa and all other SSRI's too strong for me. I have searched vigorously and found a herbal alternative called 5HPT. With the side effects of the chemical drugs, I don't want to 'get used to that' as the doctor would say. I may report back with result!!

peppy wrote: the reason you're probably on celexa is because you've been taking drugs that make you feel depressed after you take them. Marijuana, Ex and Coc all make you feel down after you take them becuase the give you an artificial high and there's going to be a downer afterwards if you mess with your brain like that. So, taking antidepressants is a good thing for you because it might repair some of the damage but STILL messing with class A drugs and dope on the side is not going to help you at all, as soon as you stop the celexa one day - you'll feel like shit. Try and go clean, you'll be better for it in the long run, believe me. Artificial??? lol marijuana is organic and the most natural high you can get

I've been taking both Citalopram and Lithium Carbonate for about the past 2 years. I smoke pot, EVERY day ALL day long and the combination of the 3 (Cita, Litium, and pot) hasn't affected me negatively in any way. I just get high normally like I was 3-4 years ago.

hmmm...i've been on citalopram (not sure the mg, 20 i think?) for 8 months now. i smoke a little bit of weed every day and have for 10 years now. i've noticed i don't get as high (which is fine, i really only smoke enough to get tired and go to sleep), and that i definitely don't get as drunk. i can drink and drink and drink, but i haven't been drunk in MONTHS. but...i'm not depressed. i'm bipolar, and i take citalopram in conjunction with lamotrigine. i stay on a pretty even keel these days, and i'm happy with my treatment.

Hey i got the same thing, when i smoked i started getting random dizzy spells, but i didnt realize it was from the weed. Also when i drank i didnt feel drunk what so ever until the ninth beer and a little pot, when it all hit me. I was throwing up for 3 hours. Is that from the pot making me dizzy or the medicine interacting with the alchohol.

Citalopram Oral INTERACTIONS Your doctor or pharmacist may already be aware of any possible drug interactions and may be monitoring you for them. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with your doctor or pharmacist first. Taking certain medications with this product could result in serious (rarely fatal) drug interactions. Avoid taking MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, isocarboxazid, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, rasagiline, selegiline, tranylcypromine) with citalopram for 2 weeks before treatment, during treatment, or for 2 weeks after your last dose of citalopram. This drug should not be used with the following medications because very serious interactions may occur: pimozide, tryptophan, weight loss drugs (e.g., sibutramine, phentermine). If you are currently using any of these medications, tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting citalopram. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially of: cimetidine, metoprolol, "water pills" (diuretics such as furosemide), drugs that can cause bleeding/bruising (e.g., aspirin, antiplatelet drugs such as clopidogrel, NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, "blood thinners" such as heparin/warfarin). Aspirin can increase the risk of bleeding when used with this medication (see above). If your doctor has directed you to take low-dose aspirin for heart attack or stroke prevention (usually at dosages of 81-325 milligrams a day), you should continue taking it unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Also tell your doctor if you take any other drugs that increase serotonin, such as buspirone, dextromethorphan, lithium, meperidine, propoxyphene, phentermine, other SSRIs (e.g., paroxetine), SNRIs (e.g., duloxetine), tryptophan, St. John's wort, drugs used to treat migraines such as "triptans" and dihydroergotamine, street drugs such as MDMA/"ecstasy," amphetamine.(See also Side Effects section.) Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you also take drugs that cause drowsiness, such as certain antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine), anti-seizure drugs (e.g., carbamazepine), medicine for sleep or anxiety (e.g., lorazepam, zolpidem), muscle relaxants, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), psychiatric medicines (e.g., chlorpromazine, quetiapine, nortriptyline, trazodone). Check the labels on all your medicines (e.g., cough-and-cold products) because they may contain ingredients that cause drowsiness. Cimetidine is a nonprescription drug that is commonly used to treat extra stomach acid. Because it may cause undesirable interactions when used with citalopram, ask your pharmacist about other products to treat stomach acid. This document does not contain all possible interactions. Therefore, before using this product, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all the products you use. Keep a list of all your medications with you, and share the list with your doctor and pharmacist.

Bangalee wrote: <quoted text> I believe as long as you're doing marijuana and Celexa at the same time, this might continue to happen, but your tolerance might increase over time. The problem is, marijuana, like alcohol, is a depressant which works against Celexa the anti-depressant. I know what I'm talking about because I am drinking alcohol at the same time as I am taking 40 mg/day of Celexa and 300 mg/day of Wellbutrin (another anti-depressant). What has happened is that over the past 2 years of drinking while on anti-depressants is that my tolerance for alcohol has grown to the point where I can put away 20 ounces of rum 6-7 days per week and wake up the next morning like nothing happened. Sounds good doesn't it? But forking out $100+ per week for your booze just to get a slight buzz is NOT a good thing, because those 20 ounces a day only give me the same buzz that 3-4 ounces used to give me a couple of years ago. Take it from me, doing marijuana or alcohol while on an anti-depressant will only dig you a deeper hole to crawl out of because while my mood and emotions are stable, I need a LOT of alcohol to keep me going. two true my friend i did the alchol route with meds, a shot of brandy to carm the nerves soon turns to a bottle for a same effect.finished up in mental ward.9232
