Julie. I mean this drug does work. It's been a week since I started taking it and have got anxiety or panic atttack. I usually takes 3 weeks to do something. But from day one you gonna see the side effects. Headache, pressure back of the head and right side, a lot of nausea, lighthead, and stomach problems (constipation) just try it out and see how you do. I was scared to take it I still am but I rather this side effects than anxiety or thinking there no way out with suicidal thoughts .

They said the same thing, Tension Headache. I was referred to a specialist, an M.D. in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. This M.D. said it's not the arthritis in my neck that's causing problems, but something called "Myofascial Pain Syndrome". I told her about celexa, and the other meds I take. I got no Xrays, or Mri's, or anything. She said I need massage therapy, chiropractor, heating pads. What makes my headaches worse is lifting weights, especially overhead.

And I understand what you mean about lifting weights I used to go work out a lot and now I haven't been at the gym for a month a cuz my headaches and get really lighthead. All I want to do is be in bed all day . It sucks but hopefully ill get better and get my life back.

Im also having trouble reaching an orgasm during sex. Before it would be about 20 mins, last time i did it, it took 3 hours. Is this Inormal? During my many readings about Celexa, I did see that lack of reaching an orgasm was the number 1 reason women left the drug. I don't think it appears on the side effects list or no one would take it

VeggyGirl wrote: I have just recently been put on celexa, I have yet to actually take the medicine. I am very nervous about the whole thing I do have depression and anxiety issues that I struggle with everyday but the thought of having it controlled by something that overall seems to effect many people in negative ways scares me a little. When I went to the pharmacy to pick this medicine up the pharmacist pulled me aside to "warn" me of the side effects something like that has never happened to me before. I know that I need to start something to get everything under control but i dont know if this is it!? Since you are named veggie girl, I would recommend a more natural/herbal route first. There are products such as Lumina for anxiety. I wish I had tried that route first, before starting the heavy chemicals. A good nutritionist could advise you, also accupuncture has been found to help as well. I have only been on Celexa three weeks and want to get off. I just don't sleep enough hours to heal when I take 10 mg or more. I am down to 5 mg and sleep 5 to 6 hours which is good for me. On 10 mg, I was sleeping only 2 to 3 hours which recked my days. wasn't able to nap even. Once you start the chemicals, the herbals don't work. Good luck, this is difficult. I personally am doing accupuncture, vitamins and exercise. some people do well on antidepressants, but others just can't tolerate the numerous side effects daily. Also meditation and books relating to it have been helpful to me. I read before bedtime and fall asleep quickly.

I've been on Prozac and I hate the sexual side effects. My doctor recently started me on 10mg of celexa, I was wondering if anyone knows if I'll still have the side effects?

I recently just started taking Celexa around 2 1\2 weeks ago at 10mg a day. I originally got on it because I had migraines, and my doctor said this would help. I've never had bad anxiety, depression, or panic attacks. Since I have started taking this I've felt more depressed, my insomnia has gotten worse, migraines are more frequent, and for the first time ever I had my first full on panic attack (it was seriousy the most traumatizing experience of my life-i felt like I was dieing and I wad going through extreme "derealization"). I'm petrified to continue taking my pill, since it's just a low dose, can I just stop taking it?

I just wanted to share that I've taken Celexa for about six months. I was given prescription for Fibromyalgia. I am on medication for blood pressure and high cholesterol and wanted to get healthier. I began an exercise regiment about 14 weeks ago with the intent of coming off ALL meds. I began to experience Lethargy, crazy thoughts and brain zaps and only after a couple of weeks of this did I realize it was from not taking the Celexa. I took one and within hours was feeling on my way back to normal. I took regular dose for two weeks, the following week started taking every other day for next two weeks and now I'm only taking every third day. This is not a med you can just stop taking!!!!! I am experiencing none of the symptoms I had before and will be off completely in another three weeks! Educate yourself before taking any meds...... Muskox wrote: <quoted text> I am into week 4 at 20mg. It has only been in the last few days that my appetite has started to improve. For the first few weeks I had none and was droping a couple of pounds a week. Stared drinking boost at noon because I just wasn't interested in eating..... could have been one of the reasons for the fatigue.

Celexa is NOT like Lexapro: I switched from Lexapro to Celexa on Feb 1, 2012, due to insurance cost. I did NOT react well. The first two weeks, jitters (like caffeine) slowly increased my insomnia, which after 2 weeks of sleeplessness, led to taking a few extra xanax (which I usually only took about 1/week) just to finally get some sleep. The next day, I passed out (for the first time in my life, and I'm 60), so OD landed me in the ER for 2 nights. The week after, I realized that the insomnia was from the Celexa... When writing bills, my usually-precise handwriting got jittery, and quit it immediately (after 3 weeks). God, this drug was awful for me - thought it would be like Lexapro, but never again. Can't recommend it -- side-effects too severe. Be careful.

Then I got wonky handwriting (usually very neat)... I quit immediately. Felt better since, but may go back on Lexapro when I confab with my dr.

I have been on Celexa for about 3 years in combination with Lamictal. I also take Klonopin on some occasions. When Celexa was first added I suffered horrendously! I was dizzy, massive headaches, and felt like I could not function. I could not drive and finally after 3 weeks decided that was the last day I would attempt to adjust to this drug. I awoke the next morning feeling fantastic! I felt balance and in control, and no headache or dizziness. It seemed that I felt normal whatever that is. I am glad that I pressed through for three weeks. I now take 20 mg after beginning at 10. While I cannot say that I never have a spiral, the combination of Lamictal and Celexa assist in keeping me balanced and functioning well with a busy schedule. The only two side effects that I live with are stomach issues that I have learned to manage and adjust eating and so forth, and sexual in that orgasm is more difficult to achieve but well worth the "struggle" when reaching that place as it is then intensified. The benefits of this medication in conjunction with Lamictal, for me, far outweigh the negatives. Over the years, I tried Prozac, Pamelor, Wellbutrin (horrible for me unreal side effects). I would encourage new comers to give the medication 3 weeks. By then it should be working right if it is going to work with you.
