Bin on citalpram for one week. Gunna take self straight off as got all side effects. Will this b safe?? On 10mg

I would not advise doing that. I would wean myself off. Let's just put it this way. A doctor prescribed me citalopram 20mg around the end of October 2011. I noticed side effects after only taking the product for a few days. I called the doctor and he said, " you haven't taken it long enough to have side effects". I think I know my body pretty well. I am prior military and have been very healthy my whole life. After a couple weeks, I started taking on more side effects. The list of my side effects would be so long, you wouldn't have time to read it. A short list would include, headaches, nausea, chest pain, muscle pain, etc. At that point I immediately stopped taking it all together. That was a mistake for, my side effects worsened and I acquired more side effects than before. I would highly recommend utilizing a two week strategy. As soon as you can, you should probably take half of your dosage in this order: 10mg - 2 weeks, 5mg - 2 weeks, 2.5mg 2 weeks, then try stopping. I would definitely recommend consulting your doctor beforehand. I am not a doctor. I have been following forums ever since November, and have learned quite a bit. There are other types of ssri medications available in which, may work differently with your body. Inquire with your doctor or pharmacist. Also, I have noticed that, if I keep my mind focused on either work, friends, or anything around; it doesn't affect me as bad. Remember, dropping this medication on impulse can be very bad. I am an example of that. I wish you the best. |

Iv been reading many forums about this drug an it seems alot of people suffer from the negative side effects, with the occasional few saying once they got threw the first couple of weeks they started to feel better, an the meds did the job. I think it all depends on how well you know ur own body, I was prescribed 20mg citroplam, I only took it for 3days before deciding it wasnt for me. The side effects were unbearable, It hightened my anxiety an made me feel panicy constantly, I instantly suffered insomnia an unable to sleep more than 2hrs a night prior to my 10hrs before meds, total loss of appetite, unable to eat as vomiting when I do, have already lost 7lb in several days. Constant Tingingling sensation in my head... an that just to name a few. Iv been off them coming up to 72hrs and are still feeling the withdrawal effects after only 3tablets... iv also read citroplam has a 35hr half life, meaning 20mg will take 35hrs to reduce to half its initial dose in the body... Im hopin these effects im feelin will subside soon, so if you feel its not for you, or if you start to feel unbearble side effects. Tell your doctor asap. |

I have been taking 40mg of celexa for almost 2yrs and have only had side effects when I stopped taking it. Stopping will cause serious harm to you or others. This is a very strong drug and should only be given to those having severe panic attacks like me. Not depression or anxiety, which leads to panic attacks. It's diffrent. Depression can only be helped by yourself not drugs. Panic attacks are caused by depression and anxiety building up to an attack. This drug should only be perscribed as a blocker for panic attacks. Its a chemical disorder not depression. Wing off by doctor not yourself, will lead to suicide. I know.

Hi, my mother was just given a script 4 this medication, she said she read 4 pages of side effects that might occur from takin it, boy after reading all this about it I'm so glad my mother is a very wise woman, she said she's not takin it until she see's a counselor or psyc. doctor. I love my mother and would hate 2 think these aweful things could have happened 2 her for what her doctor gave it 2 her for, thanks 2 everyone who shared their experience.
