Iv been off tem for a month now, so I will keep this page updated. Thanks :) I did not have bald patches...it was just shedding severely. It was falling out all over. Its really think. I cant tell if any of it has grown back yet. Its still much thinner than it was. I have decided to use the least amount of heat as possible and no more perms. I also take hairfinity vitamins because i heard they work extremely well at growing hair and adding thickness...

Hi Felicia, Thanks for your reply.
I understand what you mean about your hairloss. I won't use the hairdryer, and I havnt had my hair dyed for months so it looks really bad at the moment.
I will have to have a look for them vitamins. I'm currently taking iron tablets which my GP prescribed me, and I also bought some zinc to see if that would help. I will keep you updated. Iv now subscribed to this thread, so when somebody replies, I get an email to notify me :)

My hair was falling out by the handfuls before I started taking celexa. I chalked it up to my stress and anxiety levels. Celexa has made me feel so much better, but my hair is still a problem. I had 6 inches cut off just to try and hide the fact that my hair is so thin. I hope biotin will help.

I have been on Celexa for about 13 years sad to say. I started taking it in college and have resisted trying to get off of it out of fear of panic attacks again. Anyways it's difficult to tell if it is aging or a possible side effect as a result. I would think at 18 I would have healthier hair than at 31. About 4 years ago i noticed massive amounts of hair falling out when I shower. My boyfriend even comments he doesn't know how I have any hAir left on my head. I have been to dermatologist who tell me it's normal to lose 100 hairs a day and I should count all of the hair I shed. I take Shen min vitamins, Viviscal, Rogaine and even use Framesi scalp drops and shampoos that are paraffin and sulfate free. I have had my vitamins checked numerous times and no one can say why my hair is massively falling out. They all ask me if I was extremely sick or pregnant. I am now getting off Celexa in hopes of getting pregnant next year. I will let you know if my hair stops falling out and goes back to the healthy condition it was in before my hair fell out.

Just to follow up to my last post, I reduced my Celexa from 40 to 30 mg for 1 month now. I have so much more energy, I have a difficult time sleeping now, I am enjoying the energy and enthusiasm to do things. Best of all I am losing substantially less hair in the shower. I lost maybe 5 strands in my last show not a huge handful. I think Celexa definitely contributed to my hair loss.

I was on 300mg Wellbutrin for a few 3 years and then went off of it in March. Within a month my hair doubled in size and health - so I'm thinking the Wellbutrin must've thinned out my hair. I just started Celexa (10mg/day) and after being on it just one week, my hair and my eyelashes are both falling out, and my hair looks very unhealthy and limp. I'm going to discontinue the Celexa because healthy hair and eyelashes outweigh any benefits of the antidepressants.

My hair loss started on Savella last year and continued when I switched to Citalopram. I am starting to wean myself off now - in the meantime I want to let you know that I have been getting laser hair treatments that have helped quite a bit with the hair loss. It's called the Excimer Laser - the treatments are through a dermatologist. Just remember there are things out there to help - you don't have to watch your hair fallout with no hope.

I was on celexa for about 4 months, slowly increased my dose from 10 to 40mg daily. All of a sudden I noticed hair all over my pillow every morning, I was shocked and wondered was this normal shedding and just never realized it. It kept doing it, night after night, I finally thought I need to take a good look at everything I'm doing/taking, and found many women complain about hair loss with celexa, even though its not listed as a side effect. I was in a hurry to stop this pill as soon as I could, and did over 2-3 weeks. The pillow shedding has stopped, but i'm sooooo parnoid about my hair loss now. I freak about every strand I find. My hair is thin already and didnt need to loose that much all at once. STAY OFF CELEXA or any antidepressants if possible!
