Yup, plenty of individual experiences. One ironic one, where it was a hairdresser who asked a client if they were on antidepressants. The client was.

If you look at it practically, barbers and hair stylists see the effects day-in and day-out.

Hair loss seen both on drug, and then others who encounter it as they withdraw.

Some people noting fingernail problems/changes in tandem with the hair loss.

Valdez: can you elaborate on your experience? I am not loosing hair in handfulls, but have noticed a bit of thinning. My haridresser even commented that my hair feld different. If you are still on Celexa, did the thinning slow down after a while? I am wondering if it is an initial adjustment my body is going through and will subside after a time.

I am 31 years old and my hair is thinning a little. I've been on celexa for about 5 years and am not sure if the thinning hair is from the celexa or not. Hair loss does not run in my family though.

Well thats great.. I'm on Topamax too which also makes your hair fall out. Is there no end to all this? I'm not happy on the celexa though. I used to be on 100mg of Zoloft but my doctor changed it about a week and half ago and I have never felt so depressed in my life. I have actually had thoughts of killing myself. And not just one or two. Like all day, every day. It sucks. I never had this problem with the zoloft.

I am on Topomax and Wellbutrin (both for quite some time), Xanax for about a year and recently added in Celexa, 3 months ago. It was not long after I started taking the Celexa that I noticed my hair was coming out a little more than normal. It has now thinned so much that I am going to have to cut it several inches. I am otherwise pleased with the Celexa but I am so unhappy about the thinning hair. I can't take much more just to see if this will pass. This all sucks!

Can you go back on zoloft? There seems to be resistance to giving it out. My doctor gave me celexia instead. hang in there!

I started taking "hair, skin & nail" vitamins about 2 months ago and it has made a dramitic difference in my hair lose. My hair dresser told me to look for 3000 mcg of biotin a day. It took a while but I can see a difference. I actually have a little bit of new growth! I buy my vitamins at Wal Mart for about $5 a month. I am still on all Celexa and 3 others but I have hope for my hair now.

Spoke with my doc and yes, hair loss is a side effect. I have had to cut several inches from my long hair and My hair is thinning more rapidly than when I was not taking Celexa. I am slowly getting off the celexa and am taking trazodone at night. I will check back in and update to let you know if stopping Celexa is 'my' answer to stopping the hair loss.

Georgie, I have been on celexa at 10mgs for about one month. My hair texture is thinning; I noticed it today. Funny, I was on trazodone at night for a few months and my hair fell out. Got off traz, hair came back. Tried traz again, hair started to fall out again.
Does anyone know if this is temporary with Celexa?

Hi Cat, I have been taking trazodone for 20 years. I personally did not experience hair loss when only taking Trazodone. I have been taking Celexa for about a year, and my hair has thinned quite considerably. It seems the side effects are different with each person and each of us has to decide if we are willing to live with it or not. I wish I could say more, but I honestly don't know if the hair loss is temporary for some. Good luck.

OMG thank you for validating me, I am getting off the celexa had gotten off before and my hair grew out nicely. Antidepressants ruined my hair, I am lucky I had a lot. I am going to just keep on Lamictal and my doctor said that is fine.

Don't let anyone tell you "It's not the celexa" I so promise you it is and once you are off you will see your hair grow like crazy it stunts the growth and just ruins it. I am not saying go off without a doctor just see if you have any other options.

Have been on Celexa for four months and it worked wonders in so many ways but last month I could no longer ignore the handfulls of hair that fell out every morning in the shower. It go to a point where I grab my hair from the back and feel as if I only have half of my hair. I so didn't want it to be the Celexa but I got off of it slowly after the last few weeks and feel sad, mad and unfocused again - I really thought I would be ok if I didn't take it any more. The reason for my post is that my hair is growing in as it still falls out so at least it isn't permanent for those out there that is worried their thinning hair will be. Also, am taking Bio Sill, hope it works!

OMG I thought all this time my hair was falling out for other reasons (been on celexa for about 5 years now).
What does help the regrowth and healthy hair that isn't falling out; drink TONS of water (sounds corny, but it helps), and make sure you take a really good multivitamin.
My hair still falls out like crazy, but the regrowth is almost as fast as the loss. Good luck y'all,

I am new to this blog but have been researching hair loss and celexa for about a month now. Which is about the time I went off of it due to severe hair thinning. I noticed your comment and was wondering if you are still taking celexa and if you think the thinning is really from celexa? I am seeing dr after dr and I am really scared. The loss is rapid and has not subsided since I have been off of it. help!

I am a hair stylist and meet many people with hair loss problems. T started celexa about 6 months ago and had no noticable hair loss. My doctor increased the dose and less than a week later it started falling out. I met a lady today and while cutting her hair, she explained she was on celexa and it started falling out. I am sure now that this is the problem. I am going to stop taking it asap. I take Nioxin supplements and it has really helped in the meantime. Just wanted to share this with others who have this problem. I am not a sales person, I just know what it feels like.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Libra

It's one of those difficult days when anything can and will happen. Someone you were relying on might let you down, plans could be changed at the eleventh hour or a machine could go on the blink. To make matters worse, your energy levels are very erratic, so you feel full of beans one minute and ready to go to sleep the next. Don't make the situation worse by eating foods that give you a high followed by a slump.
