I'm a female and before I started on Celexa I could reach on orgasm within 6-10 minutes, then when I started on 20mg and then I only could within about an hour or just not at all. What REALLY sucked is that I still had my same, pretty high, sex drive... things just didn't work for me. And my boyfriend started feeling bad about his skills, (which really aren't anything to be ashamed of.) ;) This really is the only side effect I had with this drug, because it's so irritating.

My husband had a heart attack last fall and all the meds he is on has killed his sex drive. He was recently prescribed Celexa, but has only started taking it this week. After almost a year of no sexual contact, last night he showed signs of interest again. Not actual intercourse, but some sexual contact. Hopefully, this will continue and improve. I am wondering if others have gone that long without any sex drive and had it return that quickly? If so, will it last?

3rd week on 20mg of citalopram iv become very sexually active and sleeping like 2h a nyt n even then it's unsettled waking up feeling horny or jus waking up n not been able to get bk to sleep and not eating much either but it's not caught up with me yet I feel good and also getting weird blue light visuals when I close my eyes which makes it hard to get to sleep. 1st two wks slept well n didn't feel horny at all and yawned lots . But now I got sex on the brain but it does take some going to achieve orgasm but there totally mind blowing . Back in the days I thought orgasms on ecstacy was unreal but I think iv found a contender and it's legal n no comedown . Lol

I started taking Celexa 3 months ago, started with 10 and went to 20, I noticed my sex drive disappeared for a while, and it took a little longer to orgasm than usual, then my sex drive came back and I can still orgasm several times masturbating. Now I just started 40mg and hope it doesn't completely take away my drive. cuz thats no funnnnn :(

I am a 41 year old woman and have been on celexa for a year only 20 mg. It does not effect my sex drive, may increase it in fact, but it cuts off the top of my orgasm and that is very frustrating. My husband is working so hard! Not sure what to do because the drug has helped my anxiety so much!
According to Wikipedia sexual disfunction can last years after getting off celexa. This drug and others are being used to treat NORMAL human conditions. You should be anxious when under pressure! You should cry hard and long when something terrible happened to you! You should get very angry, sad, depressed or happy at your experiences. If you lose a loved one you may need to cry for several days! If you are depressed or anxious then you don't need a new problem you may never be able to cure! My wife is taking Celexa and if she can't or won't quit and become a normal human being again we will be getting a divorce soon. She was the finest woman I ever met and I suffered without true love for 48 years before meeting her. Her daughter was became paralyzed and even worse started taking Sarotonin Inhibitors. Now its like two satan possession victims in one home! They not read the satanic bible together and both have threatined to kill me and them selves since taking the drugs. Taking these drugs should be treated like becoming a herion addict and be deeemed an imediate grounds for divorce. Sound harsh? When I am as dead as their emotions and hearts you'll think different! As for sex...the choice to take celexa should be the same as choosing to get castrated or sexually mutilated! Remember... several years of sexual dysfunction AFTER stopping the drugs! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post_SSRI_Sexual...

Antidepressants (e.g. Celexa, Zoloft, Paxil) are actually causing unfortunate side effects according to various reports from its users, clinical trials and different publications like the website www.paxilbirthdefectlaw.com/paxil-ssri-antide... . Some of these side effects include erectile dysfunction and reduced sex drive. Thus, it is important to report to your doctor your queries and concerns that may affect your health upon taking any of these drugs.

This med has completely changed mine and my husbands sex life. Before being on this med he rarely thought of having sex at all unless I initiated it. Even then sometimes he did not want it. I do not have to do anything to initiate it now, he even wakes me up for it. He has only been on this for 2 weeks now and I love it already. It has litrally helped our marriage.

I've been on 20mg of Citalopram for about 6 weeks. For a while I couldn't cum , but got there with my wife and alone. Often I can't reach orgasm, but the getting close is intensely pleasurable although not cumming is frustrating. It's given me a lot of confidence sexually.

My wife takes this drug to help with anxiety. And if she is not on it she is hard to be around too. But as long as she is on the drug we have little to no sex at all. We are a young married couple and this scares me because I am not happy with little to no sex. We only been married for 4 months too. Even when she tries to give into my desires she acts as though she can't cum and it's not any fun for her. This is a real problem with this drug for my understanding what can we do?

Totally opposite symptoms, I started taking celexa four days ago... I'm horny and hyper as hell.

I think I shouldn't be on it if that's what I'm experiencing.? Hmm

The actual side effects of SSRIs like Celexa and Zoloft are decreased libido, orgasm problems, ejaculation problems, impotence and painful erection. Those are the most common sexual side effects that are reported by reported by most SSRI users. http://www.zoloftsertralinebirthdefects.com/s...

In a previous research project Citalopram has been seen to among other things to significantly boost testosterone levels.

This certainly would be beneficial for those with anxiety (as anxiety / chronic iritabilty / anger)
and those with low libedo.

Perhaps an alternative anti-depressant should be sought if your libedo is normal or good and you have depression.

An alternative treatment for anxiety / low libedo in men and some woman is testosterone hormone replacement therapy.

For those with out depression, this solution is often more "clean" in that it boosts testoterone levels to normal without interfearing with neurotransmitters such as serotonin or dopamine.

Testosterone for treating stress is still one of the medical professions secrets, in that many doctors do not treat their patients with it as it costs less than ssri's and requires less gp appointments to maintain.

For example. consider the cost of testosterone implants ($200-$300) per 6 months plus implant op costing $300.

Compared to monthly perscription of SSRI's/Diazapam/ at monthly appointments (sometimes several) with GPs.

All i know is that the latter method, which is usually the method of choice chosen for you by your GP is filling your doc's pockets and putting his kids through private schooling at your expence.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Aries

It won't be long before you start to feel bored today, unless you can distract yourself - you're switching from one activity to another. Ideally, you should keep yourself amused by doing something that's unusual or challenging, otherwise you'll be tempted to stir up trouble just to see what happens next! Even though you know that's a bad idea, you won't be able to resist, unless you've got something better to do with your time.
