Celexa = better sex?

I have taken Celexa in the past and had to resume taking it in May 2005, and I am currently still taking it. In May 2005 I started on 20 mg/day and now take 40 mg/day.

I am a 34 year old male. At first I found that Celexa killed my sex drive. I didn't horny very often, and even when I did get the urge it was not very strong. I could get an erection and maintain it but the sex felt mediocre and I could not reach orgasm so would just get frustrated and stop.

As I got used to 20, then 40 mg per day, I have found that it still takes a longer time than usual to orgasm, but when I do they are VERY intense and last noticeably longer. After one orgasm I can't have another one for at least 12 hours. But if the orgasms are more intense, last longer, and I can have sex for up to two hours before coming, then I'd day my significant other and I are having BETTER sex with Celexa. Anyone else have a similar effect in their sex life on Celexa?

I'm taking Paxil...anyone know if Celexa would have a similar effect on a female's organisms?

As a male in my early 20s, i have the same problem with reaching orgasm. before celexa it wasn't a problem, now i can go for hours...not sure its agood thing....

I have no trouble with sex, yeah it takes longer for me to have an orgasm but my partner thinks that great...he gets more of what he likes.

Hey TTT, from what I have experienced with sex, coming too soon (although I never had that problem) is more of an issue than coming too late (if there is such a thing.). Life doesn't revolve around your orgasm, so don't get anxious and just enjoy 'the ride' while working at it with your partner. You'll get there when you get there and your mate will love the extra attention if you care to give it. In my case effects have been very mild, but Mrs. Meerkat is happy with them.

I started taking Celexa about a week ago and almost imediatly i saw changes in my sex drive particularly the fact that it takes me forever to reach climax...if i even do at all ... this is very frustrating.

I too started Celexa about a week ago, before that I was on Zoloft. Zoloft didn't kill my sex drive, just the climax, which was very frustrating for me, and all I could think about was would I get off again, and was trying to at every chance I had. My doctor took me off Zoloft and put me on Celexa, now I have NO SEX DRIVE at all. I would love to hear if gets better? I just called my doctor to find out why he put me on this one when it has the same affect as Zoloft.

I am a 41 year old woman and have been on celexa for a year only 20 mg. It does not effect my sex drive, may increase it in fact, but it cuts off the top of my orgasm and that is very frustrating. My husband is working so hard! Not sure what to do because the drug has helped my anxiety so much!

I went on Citalopram 3 days ago and have found ever since, my sex drive has been higher than it ever has been. Before going on, sex would never even come to mind unless my wife initiated. Now I find my orgasms better, I have more endurance, and more drive than I've had in my entire life!
As well, Citalopram Hydrobromide has also made me less irritable within these past few days and I have never felt so happy. I'm not sure if these results are normally this immediate, but I have never been so content with life and myself. Sexually, things are amazing with my wife and my only side effect so far is dry mouth and a high sex drive. I'm not going to complain. ;-)

I've been on celexa 20mg for 2 months now. before celexa I consider my sex drive to have been lower than i want because of depression. but on celexa, i find that I cannot stop thinking about sex all day. This is strange since I know it's supposed to have the opposite side effect. my sex drive is 10 times stronger.

i agree. im on celexa 20 mgs. i used to have a pretty normal sex drive and now it has sky rocketed...not a good thing when single.

I'm very recently divorced, and this last week i had 2 incredibly beautiful sexually experienced women in bed (separate occasions) and we had sex for hours and they thought it was unbelievable,but i couldn't reach orgasm. Don't get me wrong, i ENJOYED giving them orgasms, but damn, wished i had gotten there. Think i'll back down to 20mg ed.

Any ideas on a replacement that doesn't have this effect?

Celexa can cause just the right amount of problems in your sex life to ruin a relationship. Good thing it's an anti-depressant...oh wait...

my sex life has gone from 0 - 100 within a week of taking it, all i think about is the next time im gonna have sex and what im gonna do, plus I CAN GO FOR HOURS!!! THIS DRUG HAS TURNED ME INTO A MACHINE!!! and i love it and so do my partners oh wow do they love it, THANK GOD FOR CELEXA!!! lol

The Doc added Celexa to the lithium I was already taking. At first (3-4 days) I could of cared less about any kind of sex. Then I was masterbating and my dick got so hard I thought it was going to blow up and WOW what an orgasm. Since then I found that it takes a little more to get going, but staying in the game is much easier and when I do have an orgasm, I came with a tremedous amount of force and quantity of semen. I shoot half way across the room... I have to say, I will need to start working out though, because with this type of sex you need to be in shape....for sure.

I have a RX waiting on me that I am now afraid to pick up. I took Wellbutrin and it KILLED my sex drive. Now it is sounding like this will do the same. I can't win! Is the anything out there that DOES NOT kill your sex drive? I am 48 female in pre menopause and having enough of that problem! I love my husband and have a good marriage so I will just start drinking I guess!HELP??

For Kathy ask your Dr for some natural testosterone.Because you mentioned menopause. They gave me some testosterone(has to be natural..I cant stress this enough!synthetic will make you crazy)and with in 4 hours I could have slept with the gardner.It works that fast,and its just a cream on arm.I can oly say I no the celexa has killed my sex drive,but taking the testosterone is crazy.just dont take to much or you will screw anything.No kidding:) hope this helps,and dont let the dr try and talk u out of it.They try to.Its all natural it cant hurt....

I'm not sure how to explain this but I am hoping someone has felt the same way I did or at least can help me understand why I got so bad. My sex drive had disapread after the birth of my first son in 2006. When I had my second child in 2008 I started taking Celexa for Post-pardume depression and I got my sex drive back after 2 years of not having one altogether. Unfortantaly my sex drive became over powering and I found myself wanting anything and anybody to satisfy that drive. So you can imagine what I did.... Anywho, I have been reading that Celexa is also for Bi polar disorder. Has anyone been told by a doctor that Celexa can cause you to change your behavior and cause you do to things you would not normally do off of Celexa? Thank you for your time and help Lea
