Anybody having a little dullness in thinking? I am an art teacher and know my subject matter very well. The other day, I was showing a class of children how to draw lips and I found that my drawing looked wrong and I had a moment's lapse in trying to figure out how to draw it correctly. I know this stuff by rote, and it scared me a lot to not be able to figure it out. Was wondering if anyone else has this occasional fuzziness as a result of the drug...or am I an early onset Altzheimer's person? This is the first time my brain didn't seem to know what to do.

Same as my experience last night when I cannot remember what I was doing with my embroidery first place where I found two different embroidery flosses's colors when I stitched on the cross stitch. that gave me panic.. because I cannot remember and I lost my memory what I was doing with embroidery to process for embroidery flosses. Because Celexa 40 mg gave me memory problems and confused too.. I hate memory problems.. take care

Well, I feel a little better, I guess, after hearing your similar experience.
I recently watched my mother's trip into dementia, and it is a very scary thing.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I do have a little mental confusion, sometimes I say the wrong words, and have some memory loss for routine things, I thought it was just me!

My doctor told me that would be one of the sideeffects. She said your mind will be a little bit blurry, and not vey sharp and you would have problems retreaving words.

Well, my Dr. never mentioned any memory issues and when I started not remembering words or names as quickly as I remember, it totally scared me. I do appreciate all of you making me feel better. Thanks.

I too have terrible memory loss problems, and am also an English teacher and professional. It is so embarrassing, not to mention inconviencing! I start back to school this month to get an add-on principal liscensure! I am trying to come off this stuff. I am in between a rock and a hard place. The reason I went on it was because of extreme depression, and uncontrollable moods swings. That's not good as a teacher. I totally snapped on a teacher and was out of control with my mouth. This was so out-of-character for me, because I am (NormallY)a happy, easy-to-get-along with person. Something has to been done. I am now having all kinds of side-effects: memory loss, weight-gain, complete loss of sex drive. But the alternatives don't sound good either: loss of sleep, mood disorders, and depression. It is 4:57 a.m., and I am no where near sleepy. I've been reducing my doasage for a week now. I have not taken a pill in 2 days. HELP!!!

I've been on Celexa for a little more than 3 months now and I'm taking 30 mg. In the first 2 months, I definitely noticed that "loss of words" side effect. However, the mental dullness never got bad enough for me to feel like it was affecting my work. And like the other side effects (loss of sex drive mostly), it has gotten better over time.

Denise - I'm no doctor, but it sounds like some of your recent problems might be part of withdrawal from coming off the medication. I haven't done that yet, so I have non experience with those side effects, but I hear they can be pretty bad. Good luck.

I've been on 10 mg of Celexa for a year and began noticing some confusion and very mild memory "glitches". I am 57 so was very frightened that I was developing Alzheimer's or something like that. Comforting to know others have experienced same thing as me...thanks

I am so happy to find this site. I have been on Celexa 40 mg. for almost 7 years ! Welbutrin XL as well. I have routine medication checks but have stayed on the medication because I am always fighting depression/anxiety. However, my memory loss and confusion may now be the source of my problems. Not only am I forgetful but my brain doesn't seem to process information like it used to. It is so embarrasing at work. As a manager I attend many meetings but rarely am able to participate verbally because I'm confused. I'm very intimidated by coworkers and upper management because I can't respond quickly to questions. I have to stop and think and sometimes direct them to someone else because I'm too confused. This is driving me crazy. I JUST WANT MY BRAIN BACK !

Yes.....I was worried as well....I'm only 31 and I have issues with simple things. I work with Doctors in a Veterinary clinic and have to remember very important information and multi-task frequently...I often do off the wall things, like grabbing the wrong product for a client or forgetting steps in checking out clients...I'm not happy this is happening but I'm glad I'm not going insane.....you all have the same symptoms as me.

Hey everyone. I am 22 years old, and also suffer from intense memory loss and inability to focus. I've been on Celexa for 5 years, and Welbutrin for 3 or so. I want to get off of them, but it's messed because now our bodies are addicted to them!, and will become depressed when NOT taking the pills. I decreased from Celexa 30 mg, to 20 last year. And now am at 10 mg, as of last week. And ya know what? My ability to focus has improved greatly. Still not where I would like to be, but better than before. It's not easy, but if we don't want to be on these meds, we CAN slowly get off of them. Well I've also talked with people who have stopped cold turkey... had a couple bad days, but balanced it with exercise. It's definitley relative to each individual's situation though, so do what you feel is best for you. Hope you all shine through the rough times.

holy crap... I thought I was having a hard time talking! I was finding myself knowing what I wanted to say but when I would say it, it wouldn't come out AT ALL and I've been having a hard time retrieving the correct words!

I was on Zoloft when I was 17 for awhile, and I don't remember the first semester of grade 12 at all!!! Stupid anti-depressants...

Yes, memory loss is a side affect. Sometimes I forget if I have taken my medicine. That is really bothersome. I had to get one of those weekly pill boxes to make sure I stay on top of things. I too hate the side affects, yet the alternative is not good either.

My memory and concentration is totally gone. My father died 6 weeks ago and I am not functioning at all. I have been on celexa for one week and I think it is helping. I seem a little more calmer, but I feel so anxious, more so than I usually am.
I wonder how long I should stay on this drug.

My memory loss has gotten to the point that I got lost driving an area that I drive at least 3 times a week and have been doing so for 2 years. I am so confused, and I burst into tears at any given moment without cause. I can feel great one minute, and sudden gloom hits me like a bat out of yonder. Help!!!!! Been on Celexa for 6 months.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Pisces

Having to bow down to convention or limitations is enough to make you want to scream right now, and you'll do your utmost to rebel in any way you can. Be careful about this because you could easily get on the wrong side of someone who has power or authority over you. It feels as though you're battling with forces that want to keep you under control, and you don't like it one bit.
