I can vouch for the increased effects and almost complete obliteration of THC tolerance if you stop smoking for a short time while taking Celexa/Citalopram. I'm on 20mg of the Citalopram HBr, and a habital on-again off-again pot smoker for about seven years now.
I sort of know what people are talking about with the anxiety, but weed doesn't effect me quite that way- I ride it out and just feel super-stoned. Not for everyone, though. If you're prone to bad trips, I wouldn't recommend it... but if you're somewhere comfortable, mentally and/or physically, it can be quite nice now and then.

I hadn't smoked weed for about 2 months then I was put on anti-depressants. For 5 months I put off smoking weed in fear of a bad reaction but then gave in and after only a few hits my vision went completely off and i couldnt see straight got dizzy and fainted, it was almost like I was having an out of body experience. From this I had a massive panic attack and thought I was going to die. I also started having hallucinations. It took a good few hours to come out of. The next day I was highly embarrassed for causing such a drama. It was just like a massive trip. Since then I have done it again but was prepared for what would happen so it wasn't nearly as bad. Just be prepared for something like that because I also spoke to someone in a similar situation to me and the same kind of 'trip' happened to them. You may like it may not.

I'm jealous of all you. I take 40 mg/day of celexa & my herb tolerance is super high. Celexa doesn't increase my susceptibility to getting stoned. I try & cut down on the herb but tolerance is still high. I think your reactions could have much to do with not smoking for so long

I smoke weed before and after my regiment of Celexa and didn't notice a difference. Beside the fact that I am much less anxious and paranoid smoking pot now. An obvious outcome I guess. That's the only difference I can think of...

Wow Eddie...that same exact thing happened to me last year. It scared the shit out of me. I have been taking 20mg of Citalopram for years. I had eaten a brownie that my roommate brought home and within 30 minutes I was freaking out big time. I have never taken acid, but this made me think that I was on a very bad trip. I thought I had died and I was in hell. I remember lying on my bed, trying so hard to calm myself down. My heart was beating so fast, I thought for sure I was going to die. And I was so friggin thirsty, I could not get enough water. I will NEVER do that again.
I have been on celexa for 7 or 8 years and it has worked wonders for me. At the age of 30, I decided to try marijuana for the first time. No peer pressure. Just wanted to see what it was like. Never tried any illegal drugs before that. The first time was fine. No problems but I had drunk alcohol and felt not marijuana effects. I hear this is common for the first time. However, the second time I smoked about three puffs. In about 5 minutes I was completely freaking out, paranoid, thinking I was dieing. I can only equate it to what I think a bad trip on acid will be like. Like the ones I replied to, I'll never do that again. The fog and haziness I had for 2 days, the panic and paranoia, etc. just aren't worth that.

I had the same experience with Citalopram and herb. Since weening off the medication, the attacks have subsided.
Sorry you all felt that way. I wouldn't smoke if I were you either! However, I am on celexa 40 mg for years and do not get those effects. I've had experiences where I begin to get nervous but can always calm myself down and enjoy the high by remembering, no one has ever died because of marijuana use. It's also possible that wondering about a possible interaction makes you more nervous and it's you at risk for the anic attack. I'm in no way poopooing your experiences or suggesting you continue to smoke. But if anyone ever has this same experience, just remember you absolutely won't die and you'll probably fee better!

I am taking citalopram. I just started recently. Yesterday was my friends birthday and we got in a hot tub and started smoking. I took about 3 hits and I felt like I wasn't there. When we got out I felt so strange when I started to walk towards the door when suddenly I just dropped I got on my knees and I didn't want anyone to touch me. Movement affected everything I did and I felt like I was dying. My heart was beating incredibly fast and I think I hallucinated something really scary and I was screaming. I laid down on the cold wet ground and I wanted to sleep. I couldn't even move. Everyone was trying to get me indoors into the bedroom to sleep but I wouldn't move. Eventually I got up, went upstairs, and crawled into bed. A few days ago I also smoked and I drank it wasn't as bad but my heart was racing and I just wanted it to go away. I felt insane. I needed to hold someone and I just was always paraniod and scared. I don't know if it's that I'm allergic to weed? Because before I even started taking pills I had strange things happen to me and I just always needed to sleep it off and not move. you have anxiety BAD but it might only come out when youu smoke weed, it happens to me. you need xanax or sometype of benzodiazepine if you want to enjoy being high without panic attacks. trust me its WELL worth it

Been smoking forever and just started 10mg dose generic Celexa. Damn the LAST thing I need right now is a bad trip, but from what I'm reading, it seems like there's more chance of a bad reaction if you take a break from pot. What the...?

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Pisces

Having to bow down to convention or limitations is enough to make you want to scream right now, and you'll do your utmost to rebel in any way you can. Be careful about this because you could easily get on the wrong side of someone who has power or authority over you. It feels as though you're battling with forces that want to keep you under control, and you don't like it one bit.
