Hey I'm fedex and 19 yes old male! I've been on citalopram for 8 weeks now on 20 mg! I have only just last week reduced down to 15 mg!
I was put on them after a number of illness! First I broke my leg which took ages to heal, then I took shingles and then glandular fever! I went into a very depressive mood after I became obsessed with homosexual thoughts! I have a gf who I've been going out with for 7 monts and love her greatly! With citalopram my thoughts have not become as strong and I'm not as fixated on the thoughts!
The problem however that has raised is that my sex interest is low! Hard also to et and maintain errections! Tried having sex for first time with gf and my errection wouldn't stay hard! This is quite distressing for me as I have had them gay obsessive thoughts! Any ideas thanks

I am a 39 yr old woman. I've been on celexa for almost three months now. I took it once before and the sexual side effects subsided after a while but I cant remember how long that was. Wellbutrin gave me virtigo. I have a strong sex drive and I'm tired of not getting anywhere when my husband I finally get the chance to have sex. Its no better alone either but it is a little more likely, its starting to really irritate me. Any advice?

To Karen, and others: I've been on Bupropion for about 18 months in which time it has done its job - AND I HAD A SEX LIFE. I've suffered from insomnia but can't say for sure if it's a side effect of Bupropion (Wellbutrin). For the last couple of months I felt a bit out of it, not as content as I'd been and after speaking with my doctor he added Celexa to the mix. Big mistake. Anxiousness, arm and leg twitching, worsening insomnia as well as other side effects. Also, complete loss of sex drive. Actually, the drive was there, in my mind, but the effort was gone. What an incredibly frustrating experience. I decided to go off Celxa, weaning from its half life of 37 hours down to zero. Since I'd only been taking it for a week, 10mg, it took about 2 weeks to be sure it was out of my brain (Yes, that's where it parks itself). The trembling and twitching have disappeared, I'm sleeping a tad better and hopefully that also improves in time. I've been able to reach orgasm with a prolonged effort - I don't like to give up too quickly, thank goodness my wife uses lube and is more than understanding, and in time I hope things improve. I've also noticed that at times I'm battling myself instead of the medicine: I want to reach orgasm so much that my mind keeps me from enjoying the experience. I could tell you more but see no sense in rating my reply an XXX. I threw the remaining Celexa pills in the trash - there'll be no temptations to give it another go. I'll stick with Bupropion. My advice: Get off the Celexa as soon as possible without harming yourself. Celexa doesn't have possible side effects. They're definite.

I was only 20 mg of citalopram for about 6 weeks. No sex drive at all. I am a 53 yr old female. In my mind not acceptable, my husband said I should stay on it if I needed it, I told him that I needed him more. I weaned my self about 5 mg a week till I was done with it. Did it make me feel better, sure, but at what cost. Not worth it to me. Had sex last night and just what I needed, the hell with drugs!!! I'll figure it out for myself.
Good luck all.

Each person may react differently to SSRIs like Celexa and Zoloft. Although one of the common complaints for those drugs are sexual dysfunction and insomnia.

I have been on and off celexa for about 3 yrs. Just got back on it 2 weeks ago after a suicide attempt due to the end of a 12 year toxic relationship. A little over a year ago I had a very great erection but was not able to ejaculate. Normally I'd finish too quickly and orgasm, but that night I lasted for a very long time. This was good and satisfying for my now ex-wife, and I saw this as a good thing. It was more important to me to satisfy her than myself. I now have been on it for almost 3 weeks and have a hard time ejaculating, I can now see this as a bad thing since I am self pleasuring myself -OR- I can see this a sign to stop relying on sex to make me whole and quit jerking off. I am trying to focus on finding a healthy relationship and and look forward to a healthy sex drive when I find a healthy relationship, but am worried about the reported side effects.

I'm on 20 mg of celexa and 25 mg of trazadone, and I have noticed that my sex drive has diminished and that I have difficulty with having an orgasm. I'm beginning to think that I need to increase the exercise levels, commit to a better diet, journal, meditate, etc.

I am a 62 year old male and have been on Celexa for 15 years. My girlfriend of 6 months told me she felt guilty because I never ejaculated when having sex. I had read that Celexa causes lack of libido so I spoke to my shrink and he weaned me off Celexa for a month.
The first day after ceasing taking Celexa was indescribable. Let's just say a 15 year old volcano erupted!
Maybe I'll loose that that beer belly now!

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Aquarius

You won't like it if you feel your wings are being clipped today. You want to do something in particular, only to discover that someone is objecting to your plans or that circumstances beyond your control are standing in your way. Although your instincts tell you to throw a tantrum to get your point across, you must ask yourself what this will achieve, and whether it will actually be self-defeating.
