Hi - I am on citalopram - 10mg. lately all i want to do is sleep. I also suffer from kidney infections and am in so much trouble at work for sickness - although occupational health know all about this. but over the last few weeks its like i am waiting for something to happen - something exciting that will end this sleepiness! i had my hair done on saturday and fell asleep in the hairdresers twice.

Does anyone think this could be a combination of citalopram, kidneys, depression, anxiety and stress?

I've been on citalopram for two years now, and up until recently have been fine. However this last few months I've been so tired its unreal! Its my day off today and I'm typing this from my bed! I got up once to let the dogs out and came back to bed. This is so unlike me, I just can't be bothered doing anything. I've got a million things I need to do today but can't muster the energy to get out of bed. I think its time I came off this drug as I can't see its benefits anymore. Xx

im shocked!!! my daughter has been on this ad for 6months and has put on 2 stone and sleeps all night gets up (with a struggle) and couple of hours later comes home from college and sleeps for another 4 also has a problem sweating!!
Feel like taking her straight down to docs tom and getting her off them but know you cant come off like that she still gets down dont think they have made her any better at all just worse because of the fatigue which incidentally is affecting all her work etc

I've been on citalopram for a month and a half now. when i first started them i felt great i wasn't down moody no anxiety attacks. then maybe like 2 weeks ago i lost the urge to do anything ALL I WANT TO DO IS SLEEP !!!! i have't been sad just frustrated that i don't have the will to do anything but lay in bed. i feel drained sluggish my body feels weak my mind cant focus on anything but how good my bed feels. i'm worried because i'm starting a new semester at next month and also need to find a job i wont be able to accomplish any of these things if i'm sleep damn near 24/7 the only good thing is i havent gained any weight like some other people i don't even want to eat but i force myself to hear and there. is there any other antidepressant that works better ???

Well add me to the list. I started with 20mg Ciralopram about 5 months ago, couldn't take the side effects, dropped down to 10mg and was better. For some reason went back to the 20mg and I do not want to get out of bed...the other night went to bed at 10:00 and woke up at 10:00am!!!....never have slept that much im my life...Also, I like a martini now and then but when I do have one I am like a total zombie the next day. I have NO desire to do anything...get together with my friends, plan a vaca. I am now tapering off again to the 10mg and going off of this stuff in about a week..this is nuts.

I have been on 10mg of Celexa for over a year. I have been pretty much exhausted & addicted to caffeine to stay awake. I've decided to get off of the Celexa. I think having more energy & being productive will override the anxiety that put me on the medicine.

My husband was on 10mg for only 5 days and on that fifth day he couldn't keep his eyes open. The excess sleep started on the third day . The doctor took him off immediately. He does have a neuro-muscular condition and mild depressison. We're going to skip the anti-depression meds for now.

This has been really useful to read. After seeing my GP off and on for so long wondering if I have chronic fatigue or am just going crazy.....

My fatigue and dizziness are so debilitating, I am not in bed with suicidal ideation however I am so miserable from the fatigue and other symptoms.

I am on 60 mg and have been for maybe two years, before that I was on a dose of 40 for ages.

I have made an appt with a psychiatrist to have it all reviewed and really hoping to come off. Some light at the end of the tunnel at last.

I Hve tried other drugs, one disturb my mental state drastically. i was so wiredup and happy....great... but i couldn't sleep. i began to think unpleasant and disturbing thoughts that i wouldn't share with anyone.

on citalopram i am the total opposite. sleepy, uninterested in everything, and don't think!

fatigue and lack of motivation are making me moody and miserable, not to mention a slow increase in wine and food due to the boredom of sitting in every evening watching tv. i am a naturally active person, or was until i took citalopram. however my state of mind is almost stable so better this way is suppose.

i can't continue sitting about i need to take action.

hi
i have been taking citalopram for about 2 months now and the past 2 weeks have been feeling extremly tired and have had to go to bed in the daytime.my moods and anxiety seem better but the tiredness is really getting me down. also ive put on loads of weight, has anyone else had these problems?
hello Bev , 1ve been reading comments on this web site and couldnt believe how many side effects ive been having relating to taking citalopram !!!!.I first started to take these when i had post-natal depression and continued for a further 4 years . I considered myself to be o.k and wanted to stay on them as not to rock the boat . I`m realising now that my constant tiredness and " laziness" may have be a result of my so called medication , also there is heartburn , indigestion, weight gain , and kind of "i just want to curl up in bed state". Everyone has different reactions to medication so im going to make an appointment with my doctor and try to ween myself off , and hopefully get that spring back in my step that ive been missing , for a long long time ! good luck to you , and health and happiness xxxxx

I've been on citalopram for 4 yrs. Tapered some but I don't think enough. You caught my eye, you said "giggly stuff" which i have almost all the time plus I'm very, very tired. Typing is difficult so end I'm going t o end this. But don't think you're alone. I've been off drug for 20 days. Just hoping it will get better soon.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Gemini

You're in a warm-hearted and generous mood today, especially when dealing with loved ones and members of the family. You want to give them as much of your time as possible, and also to do anything else that will keep them happy. The only snag will come if you're trying to spread yourself too thin and you end up making promises that will be difficult, if not impossible, to keep. You may forget all about them but other people won't.
