The current recommended daily allowance of 400 international units of vitamin D is laughable.
Check out http://vitaminddeficiencysyndrome.blogspot.co... it is one of the only reliable sources of info on vitamin D deficiency syndrome I have found on the internet.

What with usage of sunscreens/blocks, Vit D deficiency can be a problem..but easily rectified by using supplements. Black skinned folks in Northern climates are usually deficient unless they take a supplement.

You can just stop before you get sunburned. That's how you avoid skin cancer from sun exposure. It's not rocket science; we don't have to be afraid of the sun any more. Once your skin turns a light pink, get out of the sun - you won't be making any more vitamin D anyway.
