I have taken Celebrex, 200 mg 1x daily for several years.

I started experiencing some hip pain and my doctor advised me to go to 2x daily til the inflammation subsided. It helped.

After a few weeks, I wondered if I could go back to my regular dose. I ached all over for a few days, but I stayed at 1x anyway. After a few days I returned to how I have usually felt with just 1x per day.

When I have skipped a dose before and felt really achy and awful, I thought--"this is how bad I would feel all the time if I didn't have Celebrex"--but now I wonder--maybe there is a withdrawal period, and then my body would get used to not having it. Any thoughts?

i'm going through the same thing. Increased pain, going off of 200 mg Celebrex, been on it since a car accident in December 06. I'm in more pain than before the accident. I'm hoping I'll get through it, but I'm seeing an MD who does not believe in any of these corporate drugs, and he has me on a bunch of supplements that are helpful. One is GABA. you can order through online vitamin companies. swansonvitamins.com

GABA is "natures valium" and helps me mellow out a bit, decrease the anxiety of the withdrawal overall. You take it under the tongue. Just break open the capsule.

Also, if you take this for pain, it's called Cordyalis root and you get it sliced and made for tea. Search online to get it. I got it while in Seattle. IT will make you somewhat tired, but read the precautions and how much to steep. Offset foul taste with lemon and sugar, and/green tea helps with it too and is also an anti-oxidant. ASAI juices are VERY helpful, and pineapple is great for inflammation. I'm determined to get off and stay off of all corp. drugs. They'll kill us.

Hey, withdrawing,
How is it going?
After a few days of really feeling bad when I went from 200 back down to 100, I have felt like my "normal at 100" state.
I haven't attempted to go off altogether.
I only felt a tremendous achyness--not withdrawal anxiety.
I take the herb Valerian for muscle relaxation. It also contributes to restful sleep.
I've heard of the GABA, but I have not tried it.
I hope you are doing better.

Hey all.

My doc just perscribed Celebrex for me recently. And I have a heart condition (Pulmenary Artirial Tachicardia). I have apprehensions (now) based on what I am reading. If this make you feel like crap "after" you take it, what is the point.

What if there was a food that would outperform celebrex. Would you want to know about it? It's called the Mangosteen Fruit of Southeast Asia. The Xanthones in the Mangosteen has been proven and documented to outperform clebrex and actually is considered the most power anti-inflamatory known. It's all natural and NO side effects. Educate yourself www.InformationOnMangosteen.info Facts are facts and the science backs it up. You can contact me through the website and request an info pak. Let me stress that quality of the product is extreamly important if you want to see solid results. It has made people with fibro pain free!

I have been on celebrex for 3 years everytime I try to go off of it I get really achey and feel really bad. Every joint in my body hurts so bad I can not get out of bed, it takes about a week of being back on it before I feel better. I have stopped twice now for a two week period.

Strange but I've only been on Celebrex since mid Mar and feel great after being in a lot of pain from arthritis; however, when I refilled the last prescription earlier this month, I felt as if I was back to Pre-Celebrex within 2 days & haven't gotten any better. Now I'm wondering if it's possible to get a bad batch!

I have been off Celebrex for 6 months now after taking it for nearly 4 years. The cost of this non-generic drug became too much for me. My hands, writs, knees and hips are all feeling achy and it is hard to move about like I used too. I am hanging in there though, just waiting for something to come along that helps arthritis pain. When I began the celebres, my hands were not nearly as bad as they are now, but a constant $116 a month,; is juat too much, especially with gas now costing about an avg. 4-5 dollars a day. Any good suggestions .

I went off Celebrex in Dec. of 07 due to the high cost of this non-generic drug. It really helped the stiffness in my hands and hip over the last 4 years. Now my hands , hip, knees and sometimes even my shoulder feel so stiff and that makes me really wonder; am I experiencing delayed withdrawals or is this how arthritic my joints would have been , had I never taken Celebrex in the first place. Any thoughts, or generic ideas?

I've been on Celebrex for 5 yrs (200mgs). In Apr. it was reduced to 500mgs due to a flare-up plus adding 10mgs of Prednisone. Almost immediately I started experiencing bad headaches in the night and throughout the day. I thought it was either an allergy or sinus problem. Last Wed. on a Dr.'s appt. my bp was 155/95. Never in my life has it been over 125/80.The Dr.shrugged it off.I didn't. I got a BP monitoring kit and my bp has been going through the roof.I did a no-no and took a bp pill of a friend and my bp dropped to 115/75 in half a hr. my pulse rate is till over a 100 and I will be contacting my Dr. first thing Mon. morn. No more Celebrex for me.

Five days ago I asked my doctor if I could use 800 mg ibuprofen (generic for Motrin) twice a day instead of Celebrex, because I am in the Medicare "doughnut hole" and paying the full cost is too much for me. I also stopped Nexium.
Since then I have been having very intense, exhausting dreams--not nightmares, but vivid and active dreams that have me sweating and thrashing all night. If I had switched to Vicodin or some other opioid, I could understand it, but ibuprofen should not do that--or does it? How do I know if it is going off those two drugs or going on to the ibuprofen--or neither? Has anyone had similar experiences?

I'm on Celebrex now--just enough for 2 wks. Nobody mentioned withdrawal. I've also been taken off Lipitor for a mo. Was planning a trip for later this mo. Now I'm wondering if I should check to see if this would be too much for me.

I have also taken Celbrex for many years. There is now an alternative out there. If interested send me an email and we can discuss. LJM001@hotmail.com

I've been on Celebrex for over 2 years and recently went off. I've experienced 3 days of terrible aching throughout my whole body and have also had a couple nights of tossing and turning and cold sweats.

I have been on celebrex for 5 weeks, 2/day. i stopped 2 days ago to see if it was causing the new "hands/fingers stiff in the morning thing" and I will tell you right now, THERE ARE WITHDRAWALS from celebrex. the hand thing was caused by clebrex too, but anyway...i got a horrible headache this morning. I never have headaches, and I have not eat or done anything diff today than usual. i have tried everything to get rid of it, then i finally thought of celebrex "withdrawals" and I took one about 30 mins ago. I feel great now.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Virgo

Be careful you don't wind up doing someone else's work today, Virgo. There are all sorts of little tricks to persuade you to take pity on them, from pretending to be ill to making such a hash of everything that you can't bear to watch for a moment longer. Then you are likely to be asked to put in some overtime, at the expense of your social life. Grr.
