I do not have any medical insurance so I was enrolled in a diabetes clinic. They put me on avandia for about 2-3 years. I have been off of it for over a year now. However, when I took it, I did awake during the night on several occasions with severe chest pain. I could not afford to go to the hospital as I owe them too much already that I can't pay. The clinic changed my meds last year to Glucophage 850 3 times daily and micronase once daily instead of the avandia. At first they had me taking the avandia with all this other medication. The diabetic clinic lost it's funding two months ago, so I have no help with meds now. I have begun taking cinnamin supplements and eating organic which has made a tremendous difference in my blood sugar. For the first time in 8 years it has dropped to 126 from 300+ each morning. I think that maybe I should just stick to natures medications from now on.

When I took Avandia my blood sugar went higher than ever. The second day it went so high I lost consciousness and stopped breathing for a while. My doctor, having a history of heart problems, died of a heart attack a week later.
A second doctor knowing my experience with Avandia gave me Actos. Again my blood sugar went through the roof.
I have absolutely no praises for these foul drugs. May every perscription pad showing Actos or Avandia self distruct within 5 seconds!!

It all goes to show that the money has it and doctors are willing to kill patients off for the all mighty buck. Especially foreign doctors. It is a shame that an honest doctors can't be found nowadays.

Not in Michigan! In Michigan it is completely legal for a drug company to cause the death of a person and that person's family cannot sue the offending drug company.

An ex-governor by the name of LOBBIST ENGLER got that one passed here for the drug companies. Money does talk and the more money here in the state of Michigan, the more the legislator will listen politely then pass the law as long as the long green is under the table.

Folks, almost anything can cause a problem. Our bodies are chemical factories and each reacts differently. Drug companies have to play the benefit odds against the risk odds. That's just the way it is. Does that mean that I think the drug companies don't hurt us sometimes? No. Drug companies are in the business of making money and doing so with the least amount of risk and the most amount of health benefit. That may sound naive, but that's what I choose to believe. I always like to hedge my bet and use the natural approach with vitamins and minerals as much as possible. I can hardly imagine the problems this causes for people who have to take these drugs, understanding the risks involved and hoping that they are not in that category, and receive maximum benefits. My prayers are for all of you.
Do you work for a spin company? You know an ad company for the drug company?

Our story seems just like yours. My husband also was healthy, 53 years old and died from a heart attack within minutes. I've felt it must be Avandia, too.

My story is similar to yours. My husband also was healthy, no heart disease, 53 years old. I'm sure it was Avandia that took his life so suddenly with a heart attack.

One truth I learned in 75 years. YOU ARE RESPONCEABLE FOR YOUR OWN HEALTH. Remember, he/she is your doctor, not your friend. Just like the guy who fixes your car is your mechanic. They are both are being PAID to fix your problem. You're a name that's all. He/she is not going to invite you to join them at their next family gethering. Sorry.

Please don't be so hard on doctors! They are the product of their education and doing the best they can under the circumstances (drug co., medical association, insurance co. and hospital/peer pressures, etc.) Younger doctors seem much more geared to the natural approach that so many of us have learned we do better on.(I use cinnamon and L-carnitine for blood sugar, occasionally policosanol) We do have to decide first what we will do with our bodies, and take charge--eating right especially! We mustn't forget there are some very good and caring doctors out there, good people doing the best they can, especially for those people who don't ever take care of themselves or learn about their own bodies. More medical doctors need to also be open to nutrition and naturopathy and determine which approach is best for each individual patient. It's interesting how many nurses choose the "natural approach" as they mature. They know too much!

One of many who care,
I'm not at war with anybody. In the end I am responcable for my health. My gripe and others too, is the cavalier way the doctors write prescriptions. In the 60's I had the oppertunity to get what I needed without the use of a doctor. I was an animal dealer, so meds were not a problem. Now, the Vet. Assn. has shut that door. After my Oct. triple by-pass surgery I was refered to a Dr. for my diabetes. She gives me an ACE INHIBATOR which I told the hospital people I couldn't take. Then she gives me Avandia, which I didn't know was dangerous, then switches me to ACTOS, which is just as bad. the ace inhibator clearly stated. IT SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN BY THE ELDERY,(I AM 75) DIABETICS,(I TAKE INSULIN) and the last is the bad cough I get. If you quote from a PDR any problems about your meds, you get an answer like I did, "If you read that, you'll be scared to take asprin." which for some people will cause internal bleeding. If you take your car to have the brakes fixed you don't expect them to fail on the way home. If they do you expect the mechanic to stand behind his work. In my point of view a Dr. is a mechanic for the human body. Thats all. The difference being I can go to a parts store and buy new brake pads. In central and south America, meds are available from drug stores and the guy in the pharmacy will explain drugs uses and warnings. I know, I've been there. Isn't it strange the medical profession makes sure I can't buy penacillin, but oxycoden, moraphine, etc, are readly available all over town? All I'm saying if they won't be more responseable the let us take care of ourself. PS. My wife has been a raiation therapist for 20 years. See, I can get all the bad stuff I want like everybody can. I just think people should be able to get helpful meds also.

I truly would like to take care of myself unfortunatly the AMA makes sure I can't. Don't waste your breath about doctors. They all get the New England Journal of Medicine magazine every month. When it comes it goes right in the trash. They don't know and worse they don't care. There was a big article in our local paper a month ago about how the doctors were getting "bonuses" from the drug companys for perscribing certain drugs. We have no choice, there is no place else to go. The other alternatives are God and the health food stores.

yes, it is unfortunate that the drug companies have so much money that they can influence policy makers. if you have been affected by avandia, check out druginjurylegal.com . there is some good information there on the subject.

Thank you phil. Unfortunatly there have been too many stories of people jointing a class action law suits. The lawers wind up with millions the victims, with pocket change. I think I'll try the cinnamon treatment like scared of all meds now, said. At least no one ever died of eating cinnamon that I ever heard of. Another thing, if the pill pushers get sued and lose, they just raise their rates. There two kinds of people who can kill people, and never see one day in jail,1. A doctor, who's excuse is, I didn't know he/she was allergic to that medicine, and law enforcement who says, I feared for my life, I thought he/she was had a gun. Sorry that's the world we live in, today, and that's what happens when people are given absolute power over other people.

I can recommend a reputable online pharmacy http://allbestpills.info
I figured it would be enough to give the pills a try and I was quite satisfied with the result. I hope this info will be of any help to the community.
I have been taking 4mg Avandia from this site once in morning for last 8 or 9 years without any problems. Weight is staying stable within 5 lbs /- for the last 8 or 9 years.
