wyeth ativan versus biovail ativan

Dear Laura you right. Biovail/Wyeth drug Ativan deal from 2003 was a crime. Read all my posts. I,ve been so badly hurt by this event. I am very ill since 2006, cause Wyeth brand product was working for me,and companys mutual run for profit interrupted my treatment . Keep searching . It is a fact. I did now this from the beginning. Expose this unethical act , one of many of the last decade. Please never stop. Again ,it is true!

Im shocked at reading all your comments.... I didnt know all that information with the different companies. I have been on ativan for years,,not realizing a change...But,now that all of you are bringing up this medicine not working right,,i must agree.....It doesnt totally calm my nerves like at one time....My doctor mentioned trying an antideppressant along with it.. But i didnt go that way... So..what do we do?...It costs me hundreds of dollars a month because i cant take generic too. Now im scared to take it,, but i have to cause my body is hooked...Please keep me posted ladies,,,thankyou for all your info. Santina from las vegas

this is the first i am learning of others with the exact same experience! unbelieveable. after years taking brand Ativan as the generic did nothing, and it working like a charm, all of a sudden it didn't work... i thought it was me...my dr then prescribed trazodone.. one half the dose was okay for light sleep but when took 50 mg all of a sudden i had horrible joint and muscle pain so i stopped..
i am with all of you... something awful happened when Wyeth sold this to Biovail..an investigation into this is long overdue by the FDA!!!!!!!!!! It was an outstanding sleep medication for hundreds of thousands if not millions of Americans...and overnight was allowed to be altered to a non efficacious compound for which we are paying top dollar! screw 'em!

I have been taking brand ativan for several years and I have constant arguments with doctors about my inability to take many generics. The side effects and lack of medicinal value are great in many drugs I have tried. I have one doctor who refuses to prescribe brand because he has to pay over $500.00 per prescription and he does not believe other people should be able to take brand and get a waiver for lower price if he can't. It has been such a struggle to be well with post traumatic stress and all the things that come with it. I believe there was no warning or public notice when biovail changed formula. That is a crime. And I believe they have changed the formula again as this latest prescription is being sent back to them. If anything changes there should be laws to protect patients rights. Biovail did a merger with Valeant just recently and I wonder what that will mean to the recipe which seems to have changed since this merger.
