I've been taking this for about 10 weeks now and I've been feeling great. Not a single side effect.
I've lost 20 lbs and I'm up at 6AM every morning. The results I've gotten are much more physical than mental. Between the weight loss, normal sleeping hours, and stabilized appetite, I couldn't be happier.
My issue is now I want to have a beer now and then. I KNOW that I shouldn't, and my goal at the time was to stop for 3 months until the football season started again, and I've done that. The reason why I feel I can do this is that I can simply start taking the antabuse again when I feel I want to stop again.
I haven't taken it in about 9 days and I'm slowly nursing a beer waiting to see if I've waited long enough for the drug to leave my system...

I have been drinking Vodka with no effects yet.
I have been on Antabuse for 2 weeks now. My doctor said I would get sick. What gives?

I rink slowly until the buzz, then wait about 1/2 hour before continuing to drink. I take it because of my PO but, the doctor said they can't make you take antabuse. He said the supreme court would have a fit.

I JUST started taking antabuse today....but, my doctor AND pharmacist both told me to ABSOLUTELY NOT drink on it. It's very dangerous, and you will find yourself extremely sick! I was also told by both Dr's you can start taking Antabuse 12 hours after your last drink. In regards when you can start DRINKING after your last Antabuse, I've heard anything from 4 days to 14 days. I would just take it VERY slow, and see what happens?

Good luck!! However, I say, ONCE YOU START TAKING IT, KEEP TAKING IT until you feel like you can kick this habit.

I can recommend a reputable pharmacy (Antabuse)- canada-express-mall.com/products/antabuse.htm... I received the order and it was on time and the pills work great.

Ive been taking antabuse and have been sober for 8 months. I decided to have a beer last night 48 hrs after my last dose of 200mg antabuse. Half way through the first beer and about 30 mins my face felt like it was on fire. I thought it may pass and continued to drink. I managed 2 beers over a space of about 2hrs (440ml 5%) and felt very disorientated. My heart was throbbing and my body was pounding. My face and chest felt like it was on fire at this stage. There was a distinct line around my body and arms where the redness ended and my eyes were completely blood shot and felt like they were going to explode. I was struggling to breath and had to make an effort. I felt so ill I ended up lying in my bed quivering. I woke up feeling ok this morning thankfully.

Disulfurin works. Dont test it.

I can't believe these posts! Alcohol is slowly (or quickly) killing you NOT antabuse! Get in a program and get some help, get some support. Don't blame everyone for your arrests: take some responsibility!

i took my last dose of antabuse 2 days ago (friday). it was 250 mg, and i had 125 mg the day before. before that, i had not had a 250 mg dose for a week. i plan to drink this friday, which will be a week after my last dose. it was not taken daily, usually two to three times a week of 250 mg. will a week be enough to get it out of my system? i read the vitamin c tip and i plan to take lots of vitamin c. i also have a fairly fast metabolism.

I came to this thread to see if I could sneak a beer tonight after missing a couple days worth of pills. I haven't been skipping them in order to cheat, just forgot them for the past couple of nights.

I haven't been able to find anything ANYWHERE that says that you can disregard the doctors advice and just drink when you want to, other than occasional anecdotes from what sound like severe alcoholics. I can't help but conclude that it must not be possible without severe consequences.

If you could cheat and drink without consequence, there would be hundreds of posts saying so. Poor David from the previous page seems to have suffered what I expect most/all of us will if we cheat.

Just to ensure that I don't drink tonight, I went and took my antabuse just now. I hope anyone reading this with the same questions I had, will do the same and kill the temptation right now, rather than risk the horrifying consequence of cheating.

Maybe you'll get away with it.... but what did you gain besides a step backward?

I drank on antibuse twice, the first time it didnt do anything, the second time my face got all red and I felt wierd, my heart was pounding really fast and it was pretty bad. I guess it has a different effect on everyone, I know some people who can drink while on it, some people get sick if they only eat something cooked with wine after taking the pill. It depends. A way to beat the system is to make urself throw up by sticking a finger in the back of ur mouth. If you throw up the pill before digesting it ur good.

I've been taking Antabuse for about a month and a half. My last dose was today at around 7 pm. I think I might try to go a few days without and try sipping a drink or two. Will keep everyone posted on any effects I experience ....

Had a few drinks of beer and a small drink of hard alcohol about half an hour ago. It had been slightly over 72 hours since my last dose. So far I have had no effects, with the exception of a slight cramping in my chest ( not sure if that is related to the drinking or just nerves ). The cramping lasted seconds and disappeared almost immediately . Going to proceed with extreme caution.

Marc is right. I've taken a 500 mg pill and drank the next night and was relatively fine. And when I say drink, I mean two bottles of wine. Did definitely get flush on face and chest, red eyes, slight headache, not really all that pleasant, but doable. Next morning however, terrible hangover 10 times worse than I would have had drinking two bottles of wine without Antabuse. Just remember, everyone is different. I'm sure if someone drank what I drank they might very well be in a world of hurt or dead. In summary, you're not going to get a bad reaction from mouthwash or perfume or alcohol cooked down in food. Total Hogwash. Also, I am not a doctor, please do not try this at home.

I need to ask a question, I started drinking wen ex wife 2 cheated and left. So I have been fighting the alcohol thing 10 years. Now I see posts that, "im not an alcoholic,". Dream on cupcake. U are otherwise u wouldn't be in front of a judge. Secondly, u belong in jail...never in a hundred years after my drunkest I never drank and drive because I never put the chance of me hurting anyone because I was not selfish...god for bid any of u who claim its not fair...grow the f%$k up or maybe your just that stupid..god forbid you could've killed a child u stupid selfish ass....think bout that..maybe everyone else is saying poor poor u..but if you want to shirk responsibility because your selfish then u think it's not fair and those with 2 now u deserve to be in jail. For the rest if your selfish acts..and almost never does the drunk die its everyone else's....if u want a hug go join the democratic power. Lastly, I probably won't check this again, and former military disabled from desert storm, I am not a coward, soy can email me acrnradio@yahoo.com, just be careful, if u don't like to have your feelings hurt, I don't play nice, think carefully before u respond cause I speak my mind...and for those who disagree shame on u. Daily Horoscope for June 4

Libra

Someone is convinced they're in the right under the Lunar Eclipse, and they don't care how they get their point across. If there's trouble in your neighborhood, get it sorted out by putting your thoughts down in a blog, or on paper. Don't let anyone, even siblings, treat you like this, even if you balk at standing your ground under this moody cloud. Travel plans may be upset, and spiritual pursuits, and dealings with foreigners or people of other cultures is subject to pressure too.
