I just heard today that they have a class action suit on Ambien. Has anyone heard of this? Yes I am one of those who walks, talks, eats, you name it in my sleep. I would like to hear if anyone has had the same problem. Now I am trying to come off Ambien, and it is a slow process. Anne

I have lost everything to Ambien. I was a Sr. Network Analyst at a major law firm in Dallas, Texas. I started on Ambien last summer at the maximum dosage for insomnia. I started having memory problems right away, along with severe diarrhea. The diarrhea physically wasted my energy and my body away to where I felt horrible all the time and did nothing but lay in bed.
As for the memory, my boss would stop by and ask me to come in his office when I had a moment, but I would totally forget. Also I would repeat myself often, because I literally had no memory. This went on for 8 months until I was severed from the company after 6 years. My boss could no longer depend on me and I was largely entirely in a loon state. I still have very limited memory. I was making right at $100,000 per year but am now on unemployment,$350 per week and soon to lose my home and vehicles.
My family life suffered severely also. With no memory, I soon lost the close bonds with my three step-daughters.

I had contracted Chronic Hepatitis C and could not sleep. My Primary Care Physician prescribed Ambien CR (she gave me some prior to getting the prescription filled). I have also been on Ambien (without the CR). I was up one night cooking, talking, eatin, throwing-up, etc. and do not remember anything. There should be a Class Action regarding this. But, who do you sue, doctors, company who manufatures, who? How do we get that life we missed back? Who is responsible? They stole a part of our lives and we are not testing material. YOU think about that Genocide. We didn't ask for this. Who stole what from whom? Get a life and stop trying to run others. Let me know about the law suit, as a matter of fact, I will look it up and get back to you.
Signed,

I had to go ER for a number of side effects, I only took Ambien CR for about 2 weeks, before nticing side effects. I had about 4 weeks worth and the last 10 days of it, I started with sleep disturbence and behavioral changes, finally ended up in ER with multiple symptoms that resembeled extrapyrimidal syndrom. This drug is dangrous!

Joe, How long did you allow such severe side effects to continue? Are you saying you were so addicted that you couldn't stop taking it? You also said you took the max dosage. Did you ever think that maybe this was not the proper medication for you? Did you discuss the problems you were having with your doctor?

read my post under hallucinations. Once you start taking ambien, it is difficult to get off it. Joe, you ask these questions as if you think there is something wrong with the person who is having the problems. Ambien IS very addictive, see my post, and once you take it for even a few weeks, it is very difficult to stop. I have to take a number of pain medications for my back and I have no real trouble managing them responsibly, but 10 days on Ambiena and I was unable to stop taking it until the bottle was empty and had severe withdrawal syumptom. What happens is you use it exactly as prescribed and then maybe you even try to stop, but when you do you try to stop, you cant sleep and start withdrawing and think "well, my doctor gave it to me and I can take it for just this one more night, I'll run out soon anyway". I am working with a sleep doctor now but when most people started taking ambien it was believed it was harmless. It is only recently has there been a lot of info about its potential harmful effects.

Guys, Im reading this, and I am totally apalled. I am reading poeople talking about wanting to sue people over their own drug addiction. No one forced you to take Ambien. You are an adult, you went to a doctor at your own free will, who prescribed you a medication that you abused, and now you want to sue someone. I would bet that the doctor prescribed it with certain usage mandates, and I bet you didnt follow-them. Two weeks is the maximum sustained period that the manufacturer suggests you take it, yet I am reading here that people are taking it for months??? There is a huge website with all this information that is freely available. There is also a phamplet that came with the medication that tells you of this. I bet the prescription notes the same constraints. You were warned, you abused it, you suffered consequences, and now its someone else's fault? Grow up. You are adults and responsible for your own actions.
I know insomnia sucks, because I am hyperactive and its been hard for me to sleep most of my life. But hey, life isnt always rosy.
I wouldnt be surprised if some of you bought it over the internet without a prescription also, because the Dr wouldnt continue to precribe it. If so, this is exactly why we require prescriptions in the US. If you did do this, you can kiss-off any hopes at getting rich off of Ambien's manufacturer.
I had some sleep issues, and I went to the doctor and got Ambien. I also did the responsible thing and read the information where it suggested 1-2 weeks maximum sustained usage...so guess what? I took it for less than a week, it helped, then I stopped, with no side-effects.
There is a wealth of information available on drugs, so if you choose to take them, read the information, follow the directions, and stop whining.

Hmmm. Maybe i could sue to have my computer replaced. I have a laptop and i have a little tray that i use when i use my laptop in bed to surf the web and read emails. I took ambien, thinking that when i got drowsy, i would put the computer away, roll over and go to sleep. But instead, the medication caused me to pass out so suddenly that i don't remember falling asleep. I woke up laying on my side with the computer tray on my torso and my laptop on the floor, with the lid bent, permanently damaged. It never occurred to me that a medication would make me fall asleep that suddenly. I am a chronic insomniac who has always had trouble falling asleep, i've used other medications, barbituates and valium, over many years, and none of these ever caused me to change from a waking state to unconsciousness so suddenly that i had no memory of falling asleep, or would be unaware of my laptop sitting on me, or crashing to the floor. I have only taken ambien as directed, I've taken both 5mg and 10mg and have found that for me, 5mg works well enough so i don't take 10mg, i break my 10mg pills in half. I take it only after I'm in bed, ready to go to sleep, and relaxing, reading, and sometimes rather than a book, i will read stuff on the web or email, and that's how my laptop came to be damaged. this was not something i could anticipate. There was no warning on the label saying that unconsciousness could come so suddenly that one should be prepared for that.

You are very lucky. The identical negative side effects are from LSD bad trips. That happened decades ago. totally unpredictable outcomes...and doctors not informed about the severe reactions.

I havent heard anything about a class action suit but I can certainly understand it if is is true. I only took maybe 4 pills and at least twice did weird things that I had no memory of, posing in my underwear on web cam for my 2 youngest daughters, age 22 and 24, they thought it was hillarious, I thought it was scary, that certainly isnt something I would do for any reason. They cropped the picture and sent to my other daughter as a joke, but I wasnt laughimg. I fell once also and didnt remember it, when my daughtes asked me how I felt next morning I didnt know what they were talking about.

I took the medicine which was prescribed by my doctor, I took myself off of it after taking no more than 4 pills. I had memory loss and that scared me, I would rather have insomnia than temporary amnesia.

A) Don't bother with class action. Lawyers get ALL the money. You can sue independently regardless of any class actions and there are MANY against Sanofi. You don't need to participate to benefit.

B) Tell your doc and ask about Dalmane instead. It took me off the Ambien, has no weird side effects, and I didn't suffer withdrawal from Ambien as I did when I tried to stop it myself. Ask the doc if Dalmane would be ok for you. It takes a little longer than Ambien to start working so DON'T be tempted to take an Ambien also. When it kicks in you will be out for a good 6 or 7 hours and wake refreshed and feeling GOOD!!!

P.S.: Read my comment in Ambien Problems. I've been through the mill and have permanent scars on my body from sleep walking, cooking, etc. Burns, cuts, bruises, you name it. Read my story.

Oh for Pete's sake. Get off your high horse. That drug was advertised as safe and non addicting when it first came out. Over the years the information contained in the teensey weeny little print on the monograph changed little by little. I've yet to see a pharmacist fork over a monograph with a scrip other than birth control pills to begin with.

I am scarred for LIFE due to burns, cuts etc., from sleep walking/eating... you name it. I guess YOU'D say I got the life long punishment I deserve because I trusted a prescription drug.

Well, there are a whole bunch of us out there that probably DO deserve to get rich off that slime ball Sanofi company but it ain't going to happen (lawyers in C.A. suits get it all) but I, for one, will have scars forever and I know others who have ruined their lives in car accidents, etc. from this drug.

You are SOOOOOOO way out of line and off base it's almost sickening. Since the Ambien doesn't bother you why don't you take one, go to sleep and stay away from the puter where REAL LIVE PEOPLE are searching for help.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Pisces

Relationships are kind of shaky under this Lunar Cycle and you may even get the distinct impression you're heading for a major showdown with a certain someone. Although this feels like a crisis, don't let panic or desperation push you into decisions you would normally steer clear of. You may think you've reached the end of the road, but this isn't a good reason to go off the deep end and make drastic decisions. Proceed with caution!
